Dialect

Dialect is a developer platform that gives Web3 applications a complete UX stack: embeddable on-chain actions that can be triggered from any platform, and a multi-channel notification system that reaches users wherever they are. Its tagline — "The UX Stack for Web3" — captures the scope: Dialect does not build end-user apps but provides the infrastructure layer that makes other applications easier to use.

The Problem

Crypto's usability gap is largely a distribution problem. Executing a token swap, staking transaction, or governance vote typically requires a user to navigate to a specific dApp, connect a wallet, and step through several confirmation screens. Notifications work no better: most protocols rely on users checking dashboards manually, with liquidations and governance deadlines going unnoticed until it is too late. Dialect treats both issues as infrastructure problems with infrastructure solutions.

Blinks: Blockchain Links

Blinks — short for Blockchain Links — are Dialect's answer to in-context transactions. A Blink is a URL that, when rendered in a compatible environment (wallet browser extensions, mobile wallets, social feeds, or embedded in a web page), surfaces a ready-to-sign transaction interface. The user never leaves the surface they are on.

Developers register an on-chain action with the Dialect API and receive a shareable Blink URL. That URL can be placed in a tweet, a Discord message, a dApp's own UI, or anywhere a link can live. When a supported client encounters it, the client renders interactive controls — swap tokens, stake SOL, purchase an NFT — and passes the resulting transaction directly to the user's wallet for signing.

The platform provides multiple integration paths: a Standard Blinks Library with ready-to-use React components, headless API access for any tech stack, and a no-code dashboard for teams that want to deploy notifications without writing code. Dialect reports more than 600 Blinks live on mainnet, with integrations at Phantom, Jupiter, Backpack, and Tensor among others.

Alerts: On-Chain Notification Infrastructure

Dialect's Alerts product allows protocols to send event-driven notifications across multiple delivery channels — in-app, email, browser push, and mobile push — from a single API. Developers define triggers (a wallet position crosses a liquidation threshold, a governance proposal goes live, a token price moves more than X percent) and Dialect handles fan-out delivery.

For end users, Dialect offers a Universal Inbox where notifications from multiple integrated protocols arrive in one place. For developers, the platform abstracts away per-channel delivery plumbing and provides a no-code dashboard for composing and scheduling notification campaigns.

At Accelerate 2025, founder and CEO Chris Osborn unveiled an expanded mobile-native alert stack targeting Swift, Kotlin, and React Native developers, bundled with Firebase messaging for both push and in-app alerts. Osborn cited engineering-time reductions of up to 95% compared with building equivalent notification infrastructure from scratch.

Markets and Positions

A third product line surfaces real-time lending rates, market data, and position tracking for Solana's leading lending protocols, delivered with pre-built Blinks so users can act on the data directly. This component targets trading and DeFi interfaces that want live market context without building their own data pipeline.

Origins: Smart Messaging Standard

Dialect was founded in 2021 by Chris Osborn and placed fifth in the web3 track at Solana's IGNITION hackathon. The project's original framing was the Smart Messaging Standard — a protocol for wallet-to-wallet messaging that Multicoin Capital described as enabling "address-to-address communication" as a foundational blockchain primitive.

The core idea was that every on-chain identity should be able to send and receive messages the same way it can send and receive tokens, with messages optionally carrying embeddable, interactive payloads. Encrypted wallet chat, governance notifications, DeFi liquidation alerts, and pseudonymous job matching were all envisioned as use cases on top of this substrate. That composable, interactive-message architecture became the conceptual foundation for what is now the Blinks product.

Team and Funding

Chris Osborn holds a PhD in Atomic Physics from Columbia University. He leads the team alongside Dylan Hattem (head of business development) and Nick Zhelezkov (head of engineering). In March 2022, Dialect raised a $4.1 million seed round co-led by Multicoin Capital and Jump Crypto, with participation from WAGMI Ventures, Heroic Ventures, Solana Ventures, and angel investors including Austen Allred and Joe McCann.

Ecosystem Fit

Dialect is a utility layer rather than a protocol with its own token or financial primitives. Its program is deployed on Solana mainnet and classified by the Solana ecosystem's own taxonomy as developer tooling on the SPL standard. The platform now supports both Solana and EVM chains, allowing teams building on either ecosystem to use a consistent notification and action-distribution API.

For the Solana ecosystem specifically, Dialect's Blinks infrastructure became tightly integrated with the Solana Actions specification — the standard that allows any Solana transaction to be packaged as a shareable link. Dialect provides the developer tooling, hosting, and wallet-side rendering that makes the Actions standard practically useful for the majority of teams.
