Three years ago, Solana SOL$75.77-0.6% Solana held roughly $1.5 billion in stablecoin supply. As of August 9, 2026, that figure stands at $16.7 billion, an 11x increase at a time when the global stablecoin market grew approximately 2.5x over the same period, per on-chain analysis by blockchain researcher @solana_sailor citing Artemis data. The gap in growth rates positions Solana behind only Ethereum and Tron in total stablecoin supply across all blockchains.

How Solana's Stablecoin Supply Climbed From $1.5B to $16.7B

Growth was not gradual. Solana's stablecoin supply held in single-digit billions for most of 2024 and into early 2025, then accelerated sharply as institutional demand, payment integrations, and DeFi activity drew more capital to the chain. The supply crossed $16 billion in early July 2026, according to CryptoBriefing, and the current tally stands at $16.7 billion.

USDC (USDC) drives roughly 75% to 80% of that supply, representing more than $10.5 billion of the total, per Artemis. USDT (USDT), PayPal's PYUSD (PYUSD), and yield-bearing options including Ondo's USDY (USDY) make up most of the remainder. Circle USDC$1.0000.0% Circle has expanded USDC minting activity on Solana alongside institutional payment integrations, which accounts for much of USDC's outsized share.

At $16.7 billion, Solana's supply base has pulled ahead of BNB Chain, Base, Arbitrum, and every other network except Ethereum and Tron.

Solana Stablecoin Transfer Volume: $500B+ in July, Per Artemis

Supply is a stock. Transfer volume measures flow, the amount of stablecoin value moving through the chain each month. Artemis Artemis tracked more than $500 billion in stablecoin transfer volume on Solana for July 2026. That figure is sourced from Artemis directly and does not have independent confirmation from a second analytics provider; it should be read accordingly.

The order of magnitude aligns with Solana's earlier trajectory. Per Artemis, the network recorded roughly $650 billion in stablecoin transfer volume during February 2026, briefly surpassing Ethereum in that metric for the month. July's $500 billion-plus figure sits below that February high but remains at the scale of a primary settlement rail.

USDC Concentration and a Broadening Stablecoin Base

The concentration of supply in USDC reflects Solana's deep integration with Circle's payment infrastructure. Visa and Mastercard have used USDC on Solana for native on-chain settlement, and that institutional anchoring explains much of USDC's share of the total.

The base is diversifying. PYUSD has expanded its Solana presence as PayPal pushes into crypto payments. Yield-bearing stablecoins are growing as DeFi participants seek returns while remaining denominated in dollars. The share of supply outside USDC and USDT has grown faster proportionally than the headline figure suggests.

Why Institutions Choose Solana: The Stablecoin Liquidity Argument

The $16.7 billion supply figure gives concrete grounding to Solana's recent institutional activity. Western Union's USDPT-backed Stablecard, launched on Solana in early August 2026, enables payments at 175 million merchant locations across 37 countries, per the company's announcement. BlackRock's BRSRV and BSTBL tokenized money market funds launched on Solana this month alongside a broader push from institutions seeking on-chain treasury products.

Those decisions do not happen on a chain without liquidity. The stablecoin supply that Solana has built over three years is the foundation for the payment rails, tokenized asset products, and DeFi settlement flows that make the network viable for institutional use cases. Solana's tokenized equity market hit $1.45 billion in July volume, capturing 82% of global market share, and the stablecoin settlement capacity underpins those flows. Third place globally, against chains that have held that ground for years, reflects how far the supply base has come.
