Play Solana

Play Solana is a gaming company on Solana. It makes the PSG1 (Play Solana Gen 1), a handheld games console with a crypto wallet built in. The console has shipped since October 2025 and is sold on the Play Solana website. The team also runs a game store, PlayVerse, and a portal where studios submit games, PlayGate. Players earn the PLAY token by completing quests. Few Solana teams build their own hardware, and this is the one built for games. In October 2026 the company is still active. It sells consoles from stock and keeps adding tools for game makers.

What is the PSG1 console?

The PSG1 is a small handheld that looks like a retro games console. It runs Android, and it is also a Solana hardware wallet. You play games on it. You also approve payments with your fingerprint, and your keys never leave the device.

The Play Solana litepaper lists the hardware:

The device runs EchOS, Play Solana's own layer on top of Android. Some early press reports gave a larger 5-inch screen. The litepaper and the website both give the smaller size, so trust those.

PSG1 price, editions and how to buy

The standard PSG1 costs $329 on the official store. The Pudgy Penguins edition costs $349. The early sale rounds are sold out. The current round, Wave 2, ships from stock, so you are not pre-ordering.

The site lists more than a dozen designs, including BONK, JUP and PUDGY editions. For the Pudgy Penguins PENGU$0.00639-12.3% edition, Play Solana said it would buy and burn PENGU tokens with every PSG1 sale, eGamers reported in September 2026.

Shipping costs vary by region. Play Solana does not promise to ship everywhere. If it cannot reach your country, you get a full refund, Forklog reported.

A referral scheme opened on 29 September 2026. Anyone who qualifies gets a code that gives buyers 10% off. The person who shared the code earns PLAY on each sale. Play Solana said on 9 October 2026 that it had paid out more than $20,000 this way. So look for a code before you pay full price.

How the PSG1 hardware wallet works: SvalGuard and Jupiter Wallet

SvalGuard is the PSG1's built-in wallet. It keeps your private keys in a locked part of the hardware. The games run elsewhere, on Android. A game can ask you to sign, but it can never read the key.

The litepaper says SvalGuard uses two pieces of hardware. One is a walled-off zone inside the main chip. The other is a separate security chip. You approve each payment with the fingerprint sensor. The CTO, Sandro Pinto, is a security researcher who works on this kind of chip design, per the team page.

The website calls Jupiter JUP$0.239-8.2% Wallet "the only native wallet experience on PSG1". So swaps, staking and Jupiter's other tools run on the device. If you prefer a different wallet app, the PSG1 is not built for it.

PSG1 games: PlayVerse and Play Solana: Origins

PlayVerse is the PSG1's game store. Only games Play Solana has approved will install, much like on a Nintendo or PlayStation. The website lists more than 20 games, such as Eggy League, To The Grave, Timebent and Portal Hunter.

The house game is Play Solana: Origins, which the litepaper calls a "Pokémon-inspired adventure". You collect characters and finish quests linked to real Solana apps. Along the way it shows you how to stake, swap and use NFTs. That makes it a gentle way in for new users.

Because the store is closed, you only get what Play Solana approves. That keeps junk out. But the library is small next to a mainstream handheld's.

Building games for the PSG1: Unity SDK, PlayGate and the PlaySolana MCP

Studios make PSG1 games with three tools. There is a free Unity SDK, the PlayGate portal, and an AI helper called the PlaySolana MCP.

The PlaySolana Unity SDK is open source. It maps the PSG1's buttons into Unity. It also has a simulator that copies the console's screen and controls, so you can test without a device. The developer docs also cover a PSG1 DevKit and a hackathon.

PlayGate is where you send a game for review. The portal claims more than 10,000 devices sold. That number comes from Play Solana itself.

The PlaySolana MCP launched on 26 June 2026. It plugs into AI coding assistants, so you can go from a prompt to a game running on the PSG1. On 13 October 2026 it was linked to PlayGate. From the same chat you can now set up a team, submit your game and fix the reviewers' notes.

PLAY token: Play Solana's token, XP and seasons

PLAY is Play Solana's token. Its official mint address is PLAYs3GSSadH2q2JLS7djp7yzeT75NK78XgrE5YLrfq. The litepaper gives it three uses: paying for things, rewards and voting.

You earn points, called XP, by doing quests. At the end of each season, XP turns into PLAY. Season 1 began on 28 November 2025, PlayToEarn reported. Buying a console earned 1,000 XP. The rate for turning XP into PLAY was not published.

Play Solana set aside 56% of PLAY for its community, Bitget reported. The litepaper does not give the total supply or when team tokens unlock. Check the live price and trading depth on this page's token widget.

Player 1 and Player 2 NFTs

Play Solana has two NFT collections. Both work like passes. Player 1 was the first, a set of 2,000 NFTs. Holders got money off the PSG1 and early access to it. Player 2 came next and has XP built in. Play Solana NFTs are listed on Magic Eden ME$0.046-10.6%.

Before the token launch, both sets of holders got a one-off XP bonus, per the Bitget report. Player 1 holders got the bigger share. Each NFT is also a character you can play in Origins.

Who the PSG1 is for

The PSG1 suits Solana users who want a games device that also guards their keys. It suits small studios too, if they want a closed store full of crypto users. It is a poor fit if you want mainstream games, or a wallet other than Jupiter's.

Say you already use Jupiter. The PSG1 gives you one device to play, earn PLAY and sign payments. For a game maker, the draw is reach. PlayGate puts your game in front of console owners, and the free SDK makes porting cheaper.

If you mostly want a Solana phone, or games from big app stores, look at the options below.

Is Play Solana safe? Risks and audits

Play Solana has not published an outside security audit of its wallet, its software or the PSG1 itself. That is the biggest gap for a device that holds your keys. The design keeps keys in locked hardware. But no outside firm has said in public that it was built right.

Other risks to weigh:

• Play Solana lists no on-chain programs, so there is no upgrade key to check. The website and litepaper do not say who controls the PLAY token's mint.
• One company runs every layer: the device, the software, the wallet choice and the store. If Play Solana changes its rules or fails, all of it is affected.
• PLAY has had very little trading in 2026, and its price is far below its 2025 level. Rewards you earn may be worth little.
• The XP-to-PLAY rate is not set in advance, so you cannot value rewards ahead of time.
• The project's MiCA whitepaper page (playsolana.com/mica-whitepaper) was offline in October 2026.

The company behind it, Play Solana LTD, is based in the RAK Digital Assets Oasis in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, per the litepaper.

PSG1 vs Solana Seeker and other alternatives

The closest rival is the Seeker phone from Solana Mobile. Seeker is a full Android phone. It has a secure wallet and its own app store. Pick Seeker if you want one device for everything. Pick the PSG1 if games come first. It has real buttons, a games-first system and a picked game library.

A normal retro handheld plus a separate wallet gives you more games and your choice of wallet. But nothing links those games to Solana. If key safety is all you care about, a Ledger or similar wallet is the better pick. It does one job.

Play Solana team and history

Play Solana has three founders. Jorge "0xJay" Vidal is CEO, Sandro Pinto is CTO and Vítor Ribeiro is COO. The litepaper says the team has 15 people.

• September 2024: PSG1 pre-orders opened at $199, per Forklog. NFT holders got first access. Shipping was due in Q2 2025.
• July 2025: the Pudgy Penguins edition went on pre-order.
• 6 October 2025: the PSG1 began shipping, Esports Insider reported. That was a few months later than first planned.
• October 2025: the PLAY token launched.
• 28 November 2025: Season 1 of XP quests began.
• 26 June 2026: the PlaySolana AI MCP launched.
• 29 September 2026: the referral scheme opened.
• 13 October 2026: the MCP was connected to PlayGate.

The website names its top partners as FORJ, Bonk Bonk$0.00000277-10.3%, Pudgy Penguins, Jupiter and MoonPay. Magic Eden, Metaplex, Helio, SNS and MonkeDAO are among the others. The litepaper's roadmap includes a Play Solana liquid staking token, more validator work and support for more chains. These are plans.
