DeFi Land

DeFi Land is a farming game on Solana that turns decentralized finance (DeFi) into mini-games. You run a small farm in your browser. Swapping tokens happens at the market, yield farming looks like planting seeds, and staking sits in the bank. The game is made by Kind Knight Studios. It uses two tokens: DFL, the main token, and GOLDY, a reward currency used inside the game.

The game is free to start. Owning a Gen-0 NFT, such as a fishing rod or a pet, unlocks the "Play and Earn" tier with regular token rewards. In 2025 the team added OnlyFarms, a phone farming game, and Alpaca Dash, a racing game. The official X account last posted on 28 March 2026.

How the DeFi Land game works: a farm as a front end for Solana DeFi

DeFi Land is a game layer on top of other DeFi apps. It does not run its own exchange or lending market. The DeFi Land docs say the DeFi features in your village are "powered by existing protocols", so the game only serves the front end. Each farm building stands in for one financial action.

The docs list Serum, Raydium RAY$1.65-4.9%, Orca ORCA$1.35-10.1%, Tulip TULIP$0.020-0.4% and Saber as integrations, with Tulip supplying the auto-compounding farms. The buildings page quotes a 0.07% fee on swaps made at the market. That list was written around the game's launch, so check that a given integration still works before you rely on it.

The game is built in Unity and runs in the browser. Game accounts and rewards run on DeFi Land's own servers on Amazon Web Services, per the technology page. That split matters. Your NFTs and tokens live on Solana, but your game progress and unclaimed rewards live with the studio.

DeFi Land gameplay: fishing, shooting, harvesting and pets

DeFi Land gameplay is a set of short skill games plus an idle pet mode. The official site lists fishing, a shooting gallery and crop harvesting as the active games. Pets (cows, ducks, chickens, dogs and cats) earn rewards over time if you look after them.

Around those games sit crafting and forging, where you combine NFTs to make better tools. There is also a marketplace for trading tokens, crops and items. Seasonal leaderboards pay prizes in DFL, SOL and NFTs to top players, according to the site.

Each NFT tool has energy and health. Every session uses one point of each, and an NFT holds between 2 and 25 energy, depending on its attributes. Energy refills on its own, in roughly 24 to 36 hours. Health does not: you pay to repair the NFT at the vet or the mechanic, and its reward potential drops 10% for every 10 health points lost, per the attributes docs. A better tool lets you play more sessions a day, and heavy play carries a running repair cost.

Free players get a free NFT for each mini-game. It earns experience points and a rare chance at GOLDY, and the best free players can win seasonal DFL, GOLDY and NFT prizes on the leaderboard, per the gameplay docs. Regular token rewards need a Gen-0 NFT.

Gen-0 NFTs and the DeFi Land NFT marketplace

Gen-0 NFTs are the tools and animals that unlock Play and Earn in DeFi Land. There are four kinds: fishing rods, shooting guns, harvesters and pets. You need at least one to earn regular token rewards. Each tool has four parts that set how rare it is and how much it can earn. A fishing rod, for example, has a body, reel, hook and float.

The collection began as a mint of "NFT seeds" on 9 February 2022. The seeds grew into Gen-0 NFTs a month later, per the Gen-0 docs.

Those docs put the number of Gen-0 NFTs in circulation at about 21,000. They range from cheap starter items to rare one-of-a-kind pieces.

DeFi Land runs its own NFT marketplace. The marketplace docs state that NFTs listed in DFL carry no trading fee, while NFTs listed in SOL carry a 1% fee.

You can also rent an NFT to another player instead of selling it. The docs put the commission on rentals at roughly 5% to 10%.

DFL token (the DeFi Land coin): supply, utility and DFL staking

DFL is the main DeFi Land token. It is a Solana token with a maximum supply of 10 billion, per the tokenomics page. You use DFL to buy and upgrade NFTs, to boost energy in the game, to stake, and to vote on how the game develops.

DFL staking runs on a separate staking portal and through the Bank in the game. It is single-sided, meaning you deposit DFL alone rather than a pair of tokens. At launch in February 2022 you could stake with no lock or lock for up to 104 weeks, with longer locks earning more, and claim rewards once every seven days, DeFi Land announced. Neither that announcement nor the docs give a fixed yield.

The DFL token page lists three benefits for stakers. Larger stakes get earlier access to whitelists. Long-term stakers can earn community NFTs. Stakers also share revenue from the DeFi Land treasury, though the docs give no schedule or formula for that share.

DFL staking is separate from staking SOL with a validator. It is a token program run by the game, and its rewards depend on the game earning revenue.

The token went on sale on 24 November 2021. DeFi Land sold 100 million DFL, or 1% of the supply, through Raydium, Gate.io and Solanium. DFL began trading the same day on FTX, Gate.io, Raydium and Serum, according to the project's sale announcement. The token widgets on this page show current supply and trading.

GOLDY (DeFi Land Gold), the in-game reward currency

GOLDY, listed on exchanges as DeFi Land Gold, is the second DeFi Land token. Players use it to upgrade, craft and repair their NFTs, FinanceFeeds reported when Play and Earn opened. The DFL token docs describe GOLDY as minted only to pay player rewards, with some burned on every transaction.

The two-token design keeps day-to-day game spending apart from DFL. You earn GOLDY by playing with a Gen-0 NFT, then spend it to keep that NFT working.

The reward model has changed since launch. The earning docs say that from Season 2 the game moved away from token cash-outs. Rewards shifted toward raffles and loot crates, with prizes of NFTs, DFL and partner rewards. Older guides that describe farming GOLDY to sell no longer match how the docs describe the game.

Rewards sit in a "gaming wallet" held on DeFi Land's servers until you move them to your own Solana wallet.

OnlyFarms: the DeFi Land mobile game on Solana Mobile

OnlyFarms is a farming game for phones from the DeFi Land team. It went live on 13 August 2025, available only through the Solana Mobile dApp Store, DeFi Land announced on X. That means you need a Seeker or Saga phone to play it. You raise animals, fish, hunt and trade, much as you do on the browser farm.

OnlyFarms adds a learning layer. A virtual university teaches crypto basics, and quizzes pay in-game rewards and experience points, SolanaFloor reported. The same report says the game connects to Jupiter JUP$0.240-8.2% and Raydium for swaps. It also runs weekly raffles for SOL and Solana NFTs.

SolanaFloor reported a planned Android and iOS release by the end of 2025. On 28 March 2026, DeFi Land's X account still pointed players to Solana Mobile devices.

Alpaca Dash, Paca Tales and other Kind Knight Studios games

Alpaca Dash is a racing game from the DeFi Land team. You race alpacas from the Almighty Alpacas NFT collection against other players. The Kind Knight Studios site calls it a racing game of skill, with live races, power-ups and NFT skins.

Each alpaca has five stats, including speed, handling and endurance, and races cross deserts and mountains in changing weather, per SolanaFloor. Entry fees are pooled and split among the top three finishers, with half going to the winner. You can try a tutorial before you own an alpaca, and the NFTs trade on Magic Eden ME$0.046-10.6% and Tensor TNSR$0.023-19.3%.

Alpaca Dash launched with more than $10,000 in seasonal prizes, according to game tracker PlayToEarn, which dates that news 22 July 2025. SolanaFloor described a $10,000 USDC prize pool for the season in October 2025.

Paca Tales is a cartoon series for children, starring alpacas named Mica, Luca and Bica. It began on 23 September 2025 with weekly episodes, DeFi Land posted.

The studio site lists four games. Besides DeFi Land and Alpaca Dash, there is Alpaca Run, an endless runner for mobile. The fourth is Crypto Farm, a mobile game the studio calls "the next evolution of DeFi Land".

Is DeFi Land worth playing? Who the game is for

DeFi Land suits a newcomer who wants to see how swaps, liquidity pools and yield farming fit together. The free tier needs only a Solana wallet. The docs also include a plain education section on topics such as impermanent loss, which is the cost of prices moving while your tokens sit in a pool.

If you own a Seeker or Saga phone, OnlyFarms covers the same ground with quizzes and raffles on top.

DeFi Land is a weak fit if your goal is income. Regular token rewards require buying a Gen-0 NFT. The reward model moved from cash-outs to raffles, and repairs cost GOLDY.

It is also a weak fit if you already use DeFi. You get more control by using an exchange or lending app directly.

If you want a farming game with collectible tools, DeFi Land offers that. Go in expecting a game, and treat any tokens you earn as a bonus.

Is DeFi Land safe? Risks, audits and activity

The main risk with DeFi Land is that the project has gone quiet. The official site still links to the public beta, but its footer carries a 2025 copyright. The DeFi Land account on X last posted on 28 March 2026, more than seven months before our check on 3 November 2026.

A quiet game can still run, but support and fixes are less likely.

We found no public audit of DeFi Land's on-chain programs. The docs have no security or audit page, and no audit report turned up for the staking or marketplace programs. We also found no reported exploit of either program. We could not confirm who controls upgrades to those programs.

Game rewards sit in a wallet on DeFi Land's servers until you withdraw them. If the game goes offline, unclaimed rewards may be out of reach.

FTX, one of DFL's launch exchanges, collapsed in November 2022. FTX and Alameda Research were also investors, per the investors page. Check the live figures on this page before you assume you can sell DFL at a quoted price.

Parts of the docs are out of date. The FAQ still describes plans for early 2022. The multichain page promises versions on Terra, Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche and Ethereum layer 2s, and the docs show no live version outside Solana.

DeFi Land history, funding and team

DeFi Land raised $4.1 million in a round announced on 9 September 2021, CoinDesk reported. Backers included Animoca Brands, Alameda Research, Jump Capital, the Solana Foundation and Gate.io, per Crowdfund Insider. The docs also name Sebastien Borget of The Sandbox as a backer.

Key dates since then:

• 24 November 2021: DFL token sale and first listings.
• 9 February 2022: NFT seed mint, which grew into the Gen-0 set.
• 19 May 2022: Play and Earn opened to Gen-0 NFT holders, per FinanceFeeds.
• July 2025: Alpaca Dash launched with a prize season.
• 13 August 2025: OnlyFarms went live on the Solana Mobile dApp Store.
• 23 September 2025: the Paca Tales cartoon series began.
• 28 March 2026: the most recent post on DeFi Land's X account.

The team uses pseudonyms. The lead goes by DFL Erwin, and the team page lists 15 people. They work on design, game code and the blockchain side.

The official site credits the game to Kind Knight Studios. In November 2026 the site said 450,000 people had played. It put the total number of mini-games played at 7.5 million.
