On-chain activity
Moonshot
Moonshot is a mobile wallet interface enabling meme coin trading through Apple Pay and fiat payment methods, supporting curated Solana token listings with self-custodial architecture and biometric authentication.
Moonshot
Moonshot is a mobile-first, self-custodial platform for discovering, launching, and trading Solana-based memecoins — and increasingly a broader on-chain trading app that now spans tokenized equities and leveraged perpetuals alongside its original meme coin focus.
Background
Moonshot launched in June 2024 as a product of the DEX Screener team, the widely used on-chain analytics platform. The corporate entity operating the app is Buy Moonshots, Inc. The founding premise was straightforward: take DEX Screener's existing data infrastructure and add a direct trading layer that removed the friction keeping retail users from participating in Solana's fast-moving token markets. The platform targets complete newcomers — onboarding the world to decentralized finance is the stated mission — while remaining useful to experienced traders through routing efficiency and broad DEX coverage.
Since launch the platform has expanded well beyond its memecoin launchpad roots, adding tokenized stocks, leverage trading, multi-chain support, and a developer SDK. As of April 2026, Moonshot reports more than two million registered users.
Token Launch Mechanics
Moonshot's original and most distinctive feature is its fair-launch token creation tool. Anyone can deploy a new token in seconds for approximately 0.02 SOL in gas — there is no upfront listing fee. Tokens are created with a fixed supply of one billion and trade along a bonding curve within the Moonshot interface. No insider allocations, venture pre-sales, or team reserves are permitted at launch; the platform's smart contracts are described as fully audited and designed to prevent front-running or insider activity.
Once a newly launched token accumulates 500 SOL in its bonding curve pool — roughly equivalent to a $60,000 market cap at the time the mechanism was designed — liquidity automatically migrates to [[PROJECT:287]] (Raydium), Solana's leading automated market maker DEX. At migration, between 150 million and 200 million tokens are permanently burned, removing them from circulating supply. The remaining liquidity is locked in the contract post-migration, making post-launch rug pulls structurally difficult. This model is comparable to Pump.fun but with the added distribution surface of DEX Screener's existing analytics audience.
The token launch tool also integrates with Meteora's liquidity infrastructure as an additional destination for migrated pools, depending on the project configuration.
Mobile App and Self-Custody Architecture
The core Moonshot product is a mobile app available on iOS and Android. Its key differentiator from exchange-based alternatives is non-custodial design: users never surrender control of their keys. The app implements Multi-Party Computation (MPC) key management through Turnkey's infrastructure, allowing login via email and biometrics without requiring users to write down or manage a seed phrase. The practical result is a consumer-friendly onboarding experience — closer to a fintech app than a crypto wallet — while maintaining genuine self-custody.
Trades are routed on-chain through Solana DEXs including Raydium, Jupiter, Pump.fun, and Meteora, depending on available liquidity. Users keep tokens in their own wallets throughout; Moonshot never takes custody of funds between trades.
Fiat deposits are supported through more than 180 payment methods, including Apple Pay and major debit cards, making it possible to move from a bank account to an on-chain position without interacting with a centralized exchange first.
Fee Structure
Moonshot charges a tiered service fee on each swap. As of 2026, trades under $250 carry a 2.5% fee; trades over $250 pay 1%. A minimum charge near $0.99 applies on small transactions. Additional costs include Solana's base transaction fee, an optional priority fee for faster block inclusion during congestion, and fiat on-ramp fees charged by the payment provider. The fee model is transparent and disclosed within the app, though notably higher than raw DEX fees — a trade-off for the mobile UX, self-custody, and fiat on-ramp convenience.
The $TRUMP Moment
Moonshot reached mainstream visibility in January 2025 when President-elect Donald Trump's official $TRUMP memecoin launched on Solana and listed Moonshot as its featured purchase method alongside cryptocurrency. The token's website directed buyers to use Moonshot for credit card and Apple Pay purchases. The resulting traffic was substantial: in the twelve hours following the $TRUMP announcement, Moonshot processed nearly $400 million in volume, brought more than 200,000 new users on-chain, and set records for its fiat on-ramp throughput by a wide margin.
App Store rankings reflected the demand spike. Moonshot rose from 309th in the US finance category on January 1, 2025, to the number-one finance app on the US Apple App Store within days of the $TRUMP launch, and reached the overall top-ten free apps across all categories. The episode demonstrated both the platform's ability to serve sudden mainstream demand and the outsized influence that a single high-profile token launch can have on a mobile-first trading platform.
Expanding Product Suite
Moonshot has since evolved from a pure memecoin venue into a broader on-chain trading app. Key additions as of 2026:
xStocks — Tokenized equity exposure is available directly within the app, allowing users to hold positions in stocks alongside their memecoin holdings without leaving the Moonshot interface or switching to a separate brokerage.
Leverage trading — Through an affiliated entity called Moonshot International, users in eligible jurisdictions can trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana with up to 250x leverage using Jupiter Perpetuals as the underlying infrastructure. This product was integrated in March 2026 and is not available to users in the United States, United Kingdom, or several other restricted regions.
Multi-chain support — Moonshot extended beyond Solana to support Base and Polygon, broadening the token universe available within the app.
Developer SDK — A programmatic interface for token minting and trading allows projects and developers to integrate Moonshot's launch and routing infrastructure directly.
Referral rewards — The app includes a referral program where sponsors can fund memecoin bonuses for referred users, incentivizing organic growth within the platform's network.
Solana Ecosystem Fit
Moonshot occupies a meaningful position in Solana's memecoin infrastructure layer. Its DEX Screener lineage gives it credibility with on-chain traders who already use the analytics platform, and its mobile-first, self-custodial design addresses a genuine gap — most users who arrive at memecoin trading from social media or news coverage are not ready to manage raw wallets, but centralized exchanges impose KYC delays and custody risk. Moonshot sits between those poles.
The platform's integration with Raydium and Jupiter, two of Solana's most liquid venues, means that token launches and post-migration trades benefit from deep on-chain liquidity. The bonding curve and burn mechanics align with the broader Solana fair-launch culture that emerged through Pump.fun and similar platforms, while the audited contract templates reduce the most common attack vectors — rug pulls and insider dumps — that have plagued open-launch ecosystems.
With two million users, a verifiable spike to the top of the App Store during the highest-profile memecoin event of 2025, and a product line now spanning stocks and leverage, Moonshot has established itself as one of the more durable consumer-facing applications built on Solana.
