About

Mallow

Mallow is a next-generation digital art marketplace built on Solana, designed to give creators and collectors a dedicated home for 1/1 works, open editions, and curated drops. Its core premise is that art-focused platforms require a richer toolkit than general-purpose NFT exchanges — one that goes beyond simple buy-now listings to include novel distribution formats, enforced royalties, social discovery, and a token economy that rewards ongoing participation.

Filling a Meaningful Gap

Mallow emerged to address a specific vacancy in the Solana art ecosystem. When Formfunction — Solana's dominant 1/1 art marketplace — shut down in March 2023 citing a high burn rate and lack of clear road map, independent artists were left without a curated venue to reach collectors. Mallow stepped in to occupy that space, drawing on Formfunction's community roots while building additional creator tools and a longer-term economic model around its own native token. It describes its mission as showcasing the next wave of Solana artists and providing them with the resources and community tools they need to grow.

Selling Mechanisms

One of Mallow's clearest differentiators is the range of sale formats it offers creators. Rather than limiting sellers to a single listing type, the platform provides several distinct mechanisms suited to different distribution goals:

Gumball is a randomized sale format in which every item in a batch is priced identically and buyers receive a random piece from the set. The mechanic creates suspense around collection reveals and incentivizes repeat participation. Artists can package a series of unique works and let buyers take their chances on which piece they receive.

Jellybean offers tiered rarity sales across multiple master editions. Each tier can carry a different supply level, allowing creators to structure scarcity without running separate drops. Collectors can select a tier based on their preferences for rarity and price.

Fixed Price Sales support both singular 1/1 works and open or limited-edition collections, offering the most straightforward listing path for artists who want predictable pricing.

Auctions allow time-limited bidding on individual pieces. Artists regularly run 24-hour auctions with open starting bids, covering both emerging and more established creators.

Raffles let creators set up ticket-based sales with randomized winner selection, broadening access to high-demand works beyond pure price competition.

Tiered Editions support multiple price points within a single drop, either for the same artwork at different tiers or for distinct pieces bundled together.

Creator Tooling and Access

Mallow operates as a curated platform: artists must complete a Creator Application to unlock minting capabilities. This curatorial layer is designed to maintain a baseline quality standard while still supporting a broad range of styles and emerging talent.

Once approved, creators can access additional features beyond standard listings. The platform supports exclusive locked content — digital files, assets, or media — that become accessible only to verified holders of a given NFT. Physical artwork support extends this further, allowing creators to pair digital tokens with physical pieces that include shipping logistics and an unlock-priced redemption flow.

The platform also provides airdrop functionality for distributing tokens or NFTs directly to a target list of wallets, and it offers free core mints for new users who qualify through the application process.

A developer API is available for builders who want to display or sell Mallow artworks programmatically, enabling integration into external galleries or tooling.

Cross-Platform Aggregation

A notable technical feature is Mallow's cross-chain portfolio layer. Listings from supported Solana, Ethereum, and Tezos marketplaces aggregate automatically on a creator's Mallow profile. This means an artist active across multiple chains can present a unified portfolio to collectors visiting Mallow without manually duplicating listings. The aggregation effectively turns creator profiles into cross-chain storefronts.

Social Features and Community

Mallow incorporates social layers directly into the marketplace rather than treating community as an external add-on. The platform's Talkboard feature functions as a community discussion forum embedded within the product. A separate timeline-style feed lets users follow artists, receive updates on new releases, and engage with posts — closer in feel to a social network than a traditional NFT exchange.

This social architecture aligns with Mallow's stated focus on sustained artist-collector relationships rather than one-off transactions.

SMORES Token and Ecosystem

Mallow's native token, SMORES, is central to its long-term platform economics. Unlike tokens that are pre-mined and sold at launch, SMORES can only be earned through active participation on mallow.art — it is not purchasable directly from the protocol.

Two mechanisms generate SMORES: Protocol Points accumulated through marketplace activity and Staking Points from locking tokens in the protocol. Distributions occur weekly, with allocations weighted by a user's activity level relative to the platform overall.

The token's funding comes from three revenue streams: 15% of mallow.art marketplace revenue, 90% of royalties earned by the Mallow Monkeys NFT collection, and 100% of revenue generated by SMORES-denominated products. This creates a self-reinforcing loop where platform growth generates more SMORES incentives for participants.

SMORES carries practical utility across the platform. It can be used to purchase the Cream product, which reduces minting and printing fees to zero — a material benefit for high-volume creators. SMORES also enables governance participation through MallowDAO, staking for additional rewards, merchandise purchases through an in-app shop, and trading on the Jupiter aggregator.

The platform previously used an earlier token (XNU) before migrating to SMORES and provided a token-swap mechanism for existing holders.

Mallow Monkeys is the platform's companion NFT collection. Holding a Mallow Monkey provides a 10% multiplier on weekly SMORES point distributions, creating additional upside for long-term community members. Mallow Monkeys trade on the Tensor marketplace.

Royalty Enforcement

A consistent theme throughout Mallow's positioning is creator royalty enforcement on secondary sales. The platform guarantees that artist-set royalties are honored when works change hands on Mallow — a meaningful commitment in an ecosystem where many aggregators and trading venues opt out of royalty collection to attract volume.

Solana Ecosystem Position

Mallow occupies a distinct niche within Solana's NFT landscape. Where large-volume platforms like Tensor and Magic Eden focus heavily on collection-floor trading, Mallow orients itself around individual artists and curated digital art. It competes more directly with Exchange.Art than with the dominant floor-trading venues.

The platform's cross-chain aggregation layer, its novel drop formats, and the SMORES incentive structure collectively aim to make Mallow a durable destination for both serious digital artists and the collectors who follow them. As of mid-2026, the platform remains actively used, with artists running live Gumball drops, edition sales, and auctions on a regular basis.
