Rarible's Solana Marketplace Goes Live with Claynosaurz as First Featured Collection
Rarible launched on Solana August 6 with Claynosaurz as the first featured collection, bringing royalty enforcement to the Tensor and Magic Eden market.
Rarible's consumer NFT marketplace went live on Solana on August 6, 2026, six days after a RARI DAO governance vote authorized the expansion. As we covered when that vote passed, Rarible had set a four-week build target. The actual sprint was shorter: the team had been building in advance of the formal authorization, and the launch landed well ahead of schedule.
Claynosaurz is the first featured collection on the new marketplace. Claynosaurz is a 10,000-piece Solana NFT collection of animated 3D dinosaur characters, per Crypto Briefing, that sold out in three minutes when it launched in November 2022 and debuted its animated characters on Amazon Prime Video in July 2026, reaching 245 million subscribers across three micro-episodes. Selecting it as the opening collection is a deliberate signal: Claynosaurz sits at the intersection of Solana's NFT history and its current push into mainstream entertainment.
Royalty Enforcement Sets Rarible Apart from Solana's Dominant Marketplaces
Rarible enters a Solana NFT marketplace space dominated by Tensor TNSR$0.034-0.6% and Magic Eden ME$0.062-6.4%, both of which moved to optional royalties during the 2022-2023 marketplace wars as platforms competed for volume by cutting creator fees. Rarible's position is that royalty enforcement belongs at the protocol level: secondary sales on its platform require creator royalties to be paid, enforced through escrow infrastructure rather than left to buyer discretion, according to Crypto Briefing.
That commitment carries a real tradeoff. Collections that choose Rarible gain guaranteed royalty income on every secondary sale; buyers and traders lose the option to skip creator fees available elsewhere. The distinction matters most to projects that saw meaningful revenue erode during the optional-royalty period. Collections indifferent to that distinction have less reason to divert attention from Tensor and Magic Eden's existing liquidity. What Rarible is betting is that enough projects care about the revenue guarantee to anchor the ecosystem it is building.
The platform also plans to deliver collection-specific marketplace experiences, presenting projects through tailored interfaces built around each collection's identity and community rather than a uniform listing view, according to crypto.news. Rarible says it consulted Solana NFT projects during the preparation period to develop those experiences before launch.
A Second Solana Chapter, Built on Metaplex Core
Rarible first integrated Solana in 2022, when Metaplex MPLX$0.033-0.3% became the technical foundation for the connection between the multichain marketplace and Solana's NFT ecosystem. That integration was wound down as the company restructured. The 2026 return builds on Metaplex Core, the current Solana-native NFT standard, which has become the basis for how new collections and marketplaces interact with the chain.
Earlier this year, Rarible brought its Gacha Station product to Solana, a randomized digital pack-opening feature separate from the consumer NFT marketplace. That June 2026 launch gave Rarible operational infrastructure on Solana before the marketplace opened. The consumer marketplace launch this week completes the Solana buildout: Rarible now has both its collectibles product and its core NFT trading venue live on the network.
How RARI DAO Governance Authorized the Solana Return
The RARI token, Rarible's community governance mechanism, gave holders the vote that authorized this expansion on July 31. The six-day gap between that approval and the August 6 launch reflects a pattern common to DAO-authorized product decisions: teams build to near-readiness before presenting a formal proposal, so approval unlocks publication rather than triggering development from scratch.
Rarible continued building across Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, and Polygon after its 2022 Solana exit before the community voted to return here. The multichain footprint means the Solana marketplace shares a codebase and brand with an already-operating platform, rather than launching from nothing.
Rarible Plans More Solana Collections After Claynosaurz Launch
Rarible has not named which projects are next in the onboarding queue beyond Claynosaurz. The team says additional collections will follow over the coming days and weeks, alongside community activations and editorial content built around each project.
Whether Rarible builds meaningful volume on Solana will depend on where creators and collectors direct their attention alongside Tensor and Magic Eden. The royalty enforcement argument gives Rarible clear positioning, but positioning converts into activity only when the collections that care about enforced royalties choose to deploy there, and buyers follow. The Solana NFT market Rarible is re-entering in 2026 is substantially more developed than the one it left four years ago.
