OpenSea Restores Solana NFT Trading After Four Years, Adding Mad Lads and Claynosaurz to OS2

OpenSea OpenSea added Solana NFT trading to its OS2 platform on August 31, 2026, restoring support the company first introduced and then discontinued four years earlier. Four collections went live at launch: Claynosaurz Claynosaurz, Mad Lads Mad Lads, Collector Crypt, and Phygitals. Solana now joins more than 25 blockchains supported across OS2.

Claynosaurz, Mad Lads, and Two Other Collections Go Live on OS2

The four launch collections cover different segments of Solana's NFT ecosystem. Claynosaurz is a 3D animated dinosaur collection that debuted on Solana in November 2022 and has since expanded into gaming, animation, and physical merchandise. Mad Lads is a collection of approximately 10,000 NFTs launched in April 2023 by Backpack Backpack, the crypto wallet and exchange, per crypto.news. Collector Crypt and Phygitals complete the initial set, with additional collections expected to follow without a confirmed timeline from OpenSea.

OpenSea's original Solana integration launched in April 2022 through work built with Metaplex MPLX$0.036+6.0% Metaplex, the NFT infrastructure protocol underlying most Solana NFT creation. That beta covered roughly 165 collections before being discontinued. Pedro Miranda, a former Metaplex developer who worked on the original integration, commented on the return: "We're so back. I worked on this integration in 2022(!!!) at @metaplex. OpenSea is the home for collectibles for the mainstream audience. They finally have what they deserve. Solana."

OS2 Puts Solana NFTs and Tokens in a Single Multi-Chain Interface

OS2 moved out of beta in May 2025 as a redesigned platform combining NFT trading, fungible token trading, cross-chain swaps, and portfolio management in a single interface. In the month of its public launch, the platform recorded 467,322 monthly active addresses, up 44% from the prior month, with monthly trading volume at approximately $81 million at that point.

OpenSea had added Solana fungible token trading in April 2025; NFT support in August 2026 completes full Solana coverage on OS2. A collector can now hold Solana NFT positions alongside SOL and other Solana tokens within a single account, without switching wallets or platforms.

CEO Finzer has confirmed that OpenSea is also building perpetual futures trading on Hyperliquid infrastructure. A SEA governance and utility token, introduced in February 2025 and originally planned for March 2026, remains delayed; Finzer cited market conditions at the time of the postponement.

Magic Eden Retreats from Multi-Chain While OpenSea Expands Across Chains

The two platforms have landed on opposite sides of the same strategic question. Magic Eden ME$0.073+9.7% Magic Eden, which built the dominant position in Solana NFT trading over several years, closed its Bitcoin and EVM-based NFT marketplaces in March 2026, pulling resources back to Solana. OpenSea added Solana as one more chain in a 25+-chain offering rather than treating it as a primary market.

Tensor TNSR$0.038+8.0% Tensor continues to operate on Solana, maintaining a position focused on professional NFT traders with tooling that distinguishes it from both Magic Eden's collector base and OpenSea's broader marketplace model.

The wider NFT marketplace sector has contracted sharply since OpenSea first attempted a Solana integration. Binance closed its centralized NFT service in June 2026, following earlier shutdowns of Nifty Gateway, Kraken NFT, and X2Y2, per blockonomi. Monthly marketplace volumes across the industry now run at roughly a few hundred million dollars, compared with billions during the 2021-2022 peak.

OpenSea's return comes 25 days after Rarible's own reentry to the chain. Rarible launched its Solana NFT marketplace on August 6, 2026 with Claynosaurz as its first featured collection, differentiating from existing Solana venues through mandatory royalty enforcement. Two multi-chain NFT platforms chose the same collection as their Solana reentry signal in the same month.
