Rarible is returning to Solana after a RARI DAO governance vote. Development, integrations, and security audits are underway with a four-week launch target.

Community Vote Sends Rarible Back to Solana: Development and Audits Begin

Rarible, one of the largest multichain NFT marketplaces, announced on July 31, 2026, that it will expand to Solana after its RARI community governance voted in favor of the move. The platform's official account posted on X: "The community has spoken. We're kicking off the work to bring Rarible to @solana. Development, integrations, and security audits start now. See you in 4 weeks."

The official Solana account quoted the announcement with its own comment, "All roads lead to Solana," a post that drew 627 likes and 75,000 views within hours.

Rarible: Multichain NFT Marketplace and RARI DAO Governance

Rarible, founded in 2019, is a multichain NFT marketplace and developer protocol. In July 2020, it became the first NFT platform to launch a governance token, RARI, giving holders a direct vote over protocol decisions through the RARI DAO. Governance participants lock RARI tokens to earn veRARI, which determines voting weight on proposals like chain expansions.

In its current form, Rarible operates across Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, and Polygon. The platform also runs Rarible Protocol, a developer-facing NFT API used by third-party applications to interact with NFT data across chains.

Rarible's relationship with Solana has history. The marketplace integrated Solana NFT support in 2022 via the Metaplex MPLX$0.023-3.7% Auction House protocol, allowing users to trade Solana-based NFTs alongside Ethereum, Polygon, and Tezos listings. That integration was later wound down as part of a platform restructure. Several Solana NFT collectors noted the history in their replies to the July 31 announcement, asking why Rarible had dropped Solana support after being an early adopter of the chain.

More recently, Rarible launched Gacha Station on Solana in June 2026, a physical collectibles product offering graded Pokémon, One Piece, and sports card packs via Collector Crypt, showing Solana had remained on the platform's roadmap before this larger announcement.

The RARI DAO Vote

Rarible's announcement was framed as the outcome of a RARI DAO governance decision. The exact proposal details (vote margin, quorum, or submission threshold) were not disclosed in the announcement, but Rarible's governance process requires community approval before major platform expansions begin. The phrasing "the community has spoken" is standard language the platform uses when a DAO vote has reached a decision.

The announcement drew 204 likes and nearly 55,000 views on X within hours of publication, with replies from Solana ecosystem participants, NFT collectors, and builders welcoming the return.

A Four-Week Build

Rarible's stated timeline is specific: development, integrations, and security audits are underway from July 31, with a four-week window. That puts the target launch at approximately late August 2026.

The compressed timeline implies significant prior preparation. Rarible's marketplace infrastructure (royalty enforcement, escrow, and collection management) must be adapted to Solana's Rust-based execution environment, and the inclusion of security audits within the same four weeks signals that pre-audit work is already underway. Rarible did not release further technical details in the announcement.

Metaplex Core: Solana's NFT Standard and Rarible's Next Integration

Metaplex, Solana's primary NFT infrastructure provider, replied to the announcement: "hugeeeeee - so like you're using Core, right?"

Metaplex Core is the current standard for NFTs on Solana, using a single-account design that lowers minting costs by more than 80 percent compared to earlier token metadata formats. All major Solana NFT marketplaces, including Tensor TNSR$0.031+1.2% and Magic Eden ME$0.059-2.2%, have fully integrated Core. A Rarible build on Core would align with where Solana NFT infrastructure has already consolidated. Rarible had not publicly confirmed the integration standard at time of publication.

Solana NFT Marketplace Competition: What Rarible's Return Means

A Rarible marketplace on Solana adds another major trading venue to an ecosystem that already includes Tensor and Magic Eden as dominant platforms. Rarible brings a distinct profile: a large Ethereum-native user base, a creator-focused rewards model funded by RARI, and developer API infrastructure through Rarible Protocol.

Whether Rarible targets existing Solana NFT collections, builds around Metaplex Core assets, or positions its marketplace API as a backend layer for Solana applications will determine the competitive shape of its entry. Those details await the four-week build window and any further announcements Rarible makes during development.
