What is the true potential of NFTs with Vibhu from Drip Haus

The True Potential of NFTs: Insights from Vibhu of Drip Haus ... In a recent episode of The Cove Podcast, host Matt sat down with Vibhu, co-founder of Drip Haus, to explore the evolving landscape of NFTs and digital collectibles.

About

DRiP Haus

DRiP Haus is a digital collectibles distribution platform built on Solana that connects creators with collectors through free, recurring NFT drops. Rather than relying on auction mechanics or high mint prices, the platform is designed around accessibility: creators distribute digital works to their subscriber base at no cost to recipients, with the platform economics structured around a points-based system rather than upfront payments. Since launching in 2022, DRiP Haus has grown to over 500,000 collectors and has facilitated the minting of more than 36 million collectibles.

How It Works

The platform's core mechanism centers on an in-platform currency called Droplets. Users earn Droplets by engaging with the platform — those who reach at least bronze XP status can claim Droplets every six hours for free. Users who want faster access can also purchase Droplets directly. Spending Droplets mints a collectible as a Solana NFT, giving the holder verifiable on-chain ownership and the ability to trade or resell on compatible secondary markets.

The XP system resets monthly, but badges earned by reaching higher rank tiers remain permanent. Higher tiers unlock greater Droplet rewards, creating an incentive structure that rewards consistent engagement over time.

Content on DRiP Haus spans art, music, comics, and mini-games. Payment settlement and wallet interactions occur on Solana, while content data is stored on Arweave for decentralized persistence. DRiP Haus does not issue a native token and has stated no plans to do so.

Creator Economics and Tools

For creators, DRiP Haus provides a distribution channel that reaches a large base of active Solana wallets without requiring collectors to pay per drop. The platform offers a "thank you" mechanism that allows collectors to tip creators directly, and a feature called Perks through which creators can deliver exclusive content, early access, or other benefits to their top supporters.

The model distinguishes itself from traditional content subscription platforms by giving collectors permanent ownership of the content they receive. Collected items remain in the holder's wallet regardless of whether they continue engaging with the platform, in contrast to Web2 subscription services that revoke access when a subscription lapses.

DRiP Haus expanded its content scope in 2024 by acquiring Vault Music, a limited-edition music NFT platform on Solana, broadening its reach into the music creator segment.

Platform Metrics and Scale

By 2024, DRiP Haus had recorded more than 36 million collectibles minted and over 1.2 million sales on secondary markets, with a community of 500,000 collectors. At its peak in early 2024, the platform reached 160,000 daily active wallets. Following significant network congestion on Solana in April 2024, activity declined to around 100,000 daily active wallets. That congestion also prompted a structural change: the platform shifted from automatic airdrop delivery to a manual minting claim model, which reduced on-chain minting volumes but gave users more control over when they claimed.

Minted collectibles are tradeable on Tensor and other major Solana NFT marketplaces. The platform supports Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, and TipLink wallets.

Mobile App

In mid-2024, DRiP Haus co-founder Vibhu Norby announced plans to release a mobile app for Android and iOS, initially targeting July 2024. A key design choice in the app was a natively embedded wallet created automatically for new users, intended to lower the barrier to entry for collectors who do not already hold a Solana wallet. The app was in alpha testing as of June 2024, with final timing subject to app store approval processes.

The platform also indicated plans to expand content types beyond visual collectibles and music to include podcasts, news, and video, accessible directly in the app or through compatible third-party wallets.

Acquisition by Jupiter

In April 2025, Jupiter — Solana's leading decentralized exchange and DeFi aggregator — acquired DRiP Haus in an all-cash transaction. The purchase price was not disclosed publicly; industry estimates placed it at approximately twice DRiP's total venture funding raised, which was approximately $11.5 million, implying a deal value in the range of $23 million.

Under the acquisition structure, DRiP Haus's eight-person team was split: half continued operating the DRiP distribution platform independently, while the other half joined Jupiter to build NFT capabilities into Jupiter's existing product. Vibhu Norby, DRiP's co-founder, took on an executive and strategic oversight role within Jupiter, with a specific focus on developing an improved NFT experience within Jupiter's mobile app.

The DRiP Haus brand remained separate following the deal, though the platform was expected to undergo visual identity updates to align with Jupiter's branding. Jupiter's stated rationale was to expand from its core DeFi offerings toward a broader Solana super-app model, with NFT trading integrated via a swaps router on Jupiter's platform.

Background

DRiP Haus traces its origins to an earlier Solana retail store project that did not advance. The project pivoted to focus on creator-driven digital collectible distribution, officially launching in 2022. The founding team raised approximately $11.5 million from venture investors prior to the Jupiter acquisition.

The platform's approach — free collectibles, no speculative token, recurring drops rather than one-time mints — positioned it as one of the more active distribution-focused NFT platforms on Solana, accounting for a significant share of non-spam NFT minting activity on the network by early 2025.
