Don't Forget To Blink (DFTB)

Don't Forget To Blink (DFTB) was a community-operated discovery platform and daily newsletter dedicated to the Solana Blinks ecosystem. It launched in July 2024, coinciding with Solana's rollout of Actions and Blinks — a technology standard that embeds interactive blockchain transactions directly into social media platforms and websites, allowing users to swap tokens, mint NFTs, and execute on-chain actions without leaving their feed.

The project's mission was straightforward: serve as a central, curated hub for the rapidly expanding catalog of Blinks being built on Solana, so that users and developers could find and track new applications in one place rather than hunting across scattered sources. The tagline summarized it simply — "the ultimate directory for discovering Solana blinks."

The Directory

The core product was the website at dftb.xyz, which functioned as a searchable, filterable index of Solana Blinks. Users could browse by newest additions or most popular entries, and developers could submit their own Blinks for inclusion via a built-in submission form. The directory covered Blinks across categories including gaming, payments, social tools, and DeFi applications, reflecting the breadth of what builders were creating with the Solana Actions standard.

Alongside the directory itself, DFTB embedded a donation Blink on its own platform, allowing community members to support the project on-chain without leaving the site. This served as both a practical funding mechanism and a demonstration of the technology the project was promoting.

The Daily Wink Newsletter

The newsletter arm, branded "Wink by Don't Forget To Blink" and published through Beehiiv at wbdftb.beehiiv.com, was the project's most active output channel. It ran in a daily or near-daily cadence and reached at least 80 published issues between July and December 2024. Each edition featured:

  • A curated selection of newly launched or noteworthy Blinks, with descriptions and creator attribution
  • A "Wink of the Day" spotlight highlighting a single standout Blink with an explanation of why it merited attention
  • Educational resources for developers looking to build Blinks, including tutorials and technical guides
  • Listings of ecosystem events, including hackathons, buildathons, and competitions relevant to Blink developers
  • Funding and grant opportunities for builders in the Solana Actions ecosystem
  • Community updates and developer spotlight interviews

Issue topics ranged from gaming Blinks (SEND Arcade's on-chain games playable through Backpack's Blinks section), to social tools (Priority DMs allowing creators to monetize direct messages), to infrastructure coverage (Dialect founder Chris Osborn discussing Blinks adoption). The newsletter also tracked Solana's own holiday on-chain shop, which used Blinks for payments, as an example of enterprise-level implementation.

Community and Ecosystem Role

DFTB maintained a Telegram community at t.me/dftb_directory and an X account at @dftb_directory for real-time updates and community engagement. The project was a sister initiative to the Fomo Fix newsletter, with Fomo Fix subscribers receiving automatic enrollment in the DFTB newsletter. It was a community-published, independently operated project with no on-chain programs or tokens of its own.

In its operational period, DFTB served a genuine aggregation function at a moment when the Solana Blinks ecosystem was young and fragmented. The volume of new Blinks being shipped by developers in mid-2024 created a real discovery problem, and DFTB positioned itself as the index that would make the ecosystem navigable for both end users and builders tracking what was possible.

Current Status

As of mid-2026, DFTB appears to be inactive. The main directory website at dftb.xyz is unresponsive (connection refused), and the Beehiiv newsletter's last traceable publication was issue number 80 on December 13, 2024. No content from 2025 or 2026 has been found across any of the project's channels, and no formal shutdown announcement has been located. The project left no on-chain footprint — it held no programs, no tokens, and no protocol-layer infrastructure.
