Don't Forget To Blink (DFTB)

Don't Forget To Blink (DFTB) was a curated discovery platform for Solana Blinks, combining a searchable directory at dftb.xyz with a daily email newsletter called "Daily Wink." The project launched in July 2024 to address a gap that emerged when Solana Blinks were first introduced: a large and quickly growing set of blink-enabled applications with no central place for users to find or evaluate them. As of late 2024, the project appears to have gone offline — the primary website returns a connection error, the newsletter publication has been deleted from Beehiiv, and the Twitter account has been inactive for an extended period.

Background: Solana Blinks and Actions

Solana Blinks (blockchain links) were introduced in June 2024 as part of the Solana Actions standard, developed by the Solana Foundation in partnership with [[PROJECT:394]]. Blinks transform on-chain operations — token swaps, NFT mints, staking, governance votes, donations, and more — into ordinary shareable URLs that can be embedded anywhere on the web, including social media posts, websites, and messaging apps. When a user clicks a blink-enabled link in a compatible wallet or browser extension, they can sign and execute the transaction directly without leaving the page they are on.

The launch of Blinks created an ecosystem of dozens of small applications within weeks. Trading platforms, NFT projects, gaming protocols, and charitable causes all began publishing blinks almost immediately after the standard was released. DFTB was built to serve as the organizational layer for that emerging ecosystem — a place where users could browse what existed and where builders could register their work.

What DFTB Offered

The core product was a directory at dftb.xyz where users could browse live Solana blinks by category. Blink creators could submit their work through a public form at dftb.xyz/form, making the directory community-contributed rather than editorially curated. The site was designed as a lightweight, browsable index covering the range of blink types appearing in the early ecosystem: trading and swap blinks, NFT minting interfaces, gaming blinks, donation mechanisms, and developer tooling built on the Actions standard.

Alongside the directory, DFTB published "Wink by Don't Forget To Blink," a daily newsletter distributed through Beehiiv. Each edition — titled "Daily Wink No. [N]" — highlighted a selection of new or notable blinks. The newsletter described itself as delivering "your daily dose of all things Solana Blinks." At least 38 numbered editions were published, and community references suggest the count reached beyond 70 issues before activity ceased.

The project also maintained a Telegram community channel at t.me/dftb_directory and an X account under the handle @dftb_directory for announcements and ecosystem updates.

Creator and Structure

DFTB was created by Daniel Akang, who also publishes the "Fomo Fix" newsletter on Substack covering broader crypto topics. When announcing DFTB in August 2024, Akang described it as a sister brand to Fomo Fix, focused entirely on the Solana blinks vertical. New DFTB subscribers were automatically enrolled in Fomo Fix as well, with an opt-out option available.

No team size beyond Akang was documented in available sources. The project was entirely editorial and curatorial in nature — there were no associated on-chain programs, protocol tokens, external investment rounds, or smart contracts. DFTB was infrastructure for discovery and awareness, not a DeFi or NFT protocol.

Timeline and Discontinuation

DFTB launched in approximately late July 2024, shortly after the Solana Actions and Blinks standard was publicly announced by the Solana Foundation. The project was active through at least late October 2024, based on the most recent tweet IDs indexed by search engines from the @dftb_directory account.

As of September 2026, the project shows no signs of active operation:

• The primary website dftb.xyz returns a connection-refused error, indicating the server is no longer running.
• The newsletter publication at wbdftb.beehiiv.com returns HTTP 404 across all pages, including the main landing page — indicating the Beehiiv publication was deleted rather than simply paused.
• The Twitter account @dftb_directory has posted no content in the past 72 hours and has been inactive for an extended period.

No shutdown announcement was found in available sources. The project appears to have wound down quietly without a formal closure notice.

Ecosystem Context

DFTB operated in a very specific early-adopter window: the first months after Solana Blinks were launched, before official tooling for discovering blinks had matured. The Solana developer ecosystem subsequently developed its own blink discovery resources, including the community-maintained awesome-blinks repository on GitHub, which took on some of the aggregation function that DFTB had served.

The project filled a real gap at an early moment in the Blinks ecosystem and published consistently for roughly three months. Its operation was brief but purposeful — a community-built newsletter and directory that tracked a new Solana primitive during the period when the ecosystem around it was first being assembled.
