Tensor
Tensor is a professional-grade NFT marketplace and trading infrastructure built on Solana. Launched in July 2022 by co-founders Richard Wu and Ilja Moisejevs, Tensor was designed from the start for active traders rather than casual collectors, bringing to NFT markets the kind of tooling that equity and derivatives traders take for granted. It has since grown to dominate Solana NFT trading, handling the majority of on-chain volume and supporting more than 30,000 collections at any given time.
From Challenger to Market Leader
Tensor entered a Solana NFT market then dominated by Magic Eden and quickly distinguished itself on execution speed, data density, and the depth of its order book. By 2023 it was regularly matching or surpassing Magic Eden on weekly volume during peak windows, and by the 2024 bull cycle it had captured 60–70% of all Solana NFT trading volume—touching 85% at peak.
The platform has facilitated more than $2 billion in cumulative trading volume since launch, a figure that reflects both the platform's growth and Solana's emergence as the most active NFT chain outside Ethereum. The combination of low transaction fees on Solana and Tensor's fast, composable interface made it the default venue for traders who move quickly and in size.
Pro Trading Infrastructure
Where other NFT marketplaces were built around browsing and discovery, Tensor was built around execution. Its interface offers real-time price charts, live floor-price feeds, historical sales data at the trait level, and a depth-of-book view that shows resting bids and asks across the collection. Traders can place collection-wide bids that match against any item in a collection, or narrow bids by specific traits — capabilities that were previously limited to custom scripts or third-party tooling.
Bulk sweeping and bulk listing allow users to execute many transactions in a single action, which matters when floor prices are moving quickly. Advanced order types are supported natively, and the interface offers both a pro mode with full data density and a simplified mode for less experienced users.
AMM and Liquidity Provision
Beyond the order book, Tensor operates an on-chain automated market maker (AMM) that lets users provide liquidity to NFT pools and earn trading fees passively. The modular smart contract architecture — covering distinct programs for Marketplace, AMM, Escrow, Fees, and Whitelist — is open and composable, meaning third-party frontends can tap into Tensor's liquidity pools directly.
One distinct product is Price Lock, a leveraged trading mechanism in which takers pay a 3–4% upfront fee to lock in a purchase price on an NFT for a defined period, and makers can earn up to 500% APY by underwriting that price lock. This adds derivatives-style functionality to the NFT market without requiring a separate protocol.
The fee structure for the base marketplace is 0% for makers and 2% for takers, with royalty payments handled at the collection level — either enforced on-chain or set as optional, depending on the collection's configuration.
Creator Tools and Launchpad
Tensor is not only a trading venue. Its Creator Portal gives NFT project teams direct control over collection metadata, allowing updates to names, descriptions, and on-chain parameters without requiring technical support from the platform. The Launchpad supports minting across multiple Solana NFT standards including pNFTs (programmable NFTs) and compressed NFTs (cNFTs), which dramatically reduce per-NFT storage costs and made mass-scale NFT distributions viable on Solana for the first time.
Tensorians, a 10,000-piece NFT collection released by the Tensor team, serves as a community membership token. Holders receive referral multipliers, early access to features, and enhanced participation in the platform's trading rewards program.
TNSR Token and Governance
In March 2024, Tensor launched the TNSR token, a Solana Program Library (SPL) governance and utility token with a total supply of 1 billion. The allocation was structured to favor community ownership: 55% (550 million TNSR) was designated for the community treasury, with 27% to core contributors, 9% to investors and advisors, and 9% held in reserve. Core contributor and investor allocations vest linearly over three years with a one-year cliff.
TNSR holders participate in Tensor DAO governance, voting on protocol fee parameters, incentive budgets, whitelist policies, and ecosystem development decisions. A seven-member Security Council provides oversight over time-sensitive governance actions.
Foundation Acquisition and Fee Restructuring
In November 2024, the Tensor Foundation announced the acquisition of the Tensor Marketplace and the Tensorians NFT series from Tensor Labs, the founding company. The transaction restructured how platform revenue flows: 100% of marketplace fees now accrue directly to the TNSR community treasury, up from the prior arrangement in which fees were partially retained by Tensor Labs.
As part of the same restructuring, 21.6% of the unlocked token supply — approximately 171 million TNSR — was burned, permanently reducing the circulating supply. Previously unlocked team and investor tokens were also relocked for an additional three years, structurally reducing near-term sell pressure and aligning long-term team incentives with the community treasury's growth.
The restructuring created a direct connection between on-chain trading activity and TNSR token value accrual: as platform volume grows, the treasury accumulates fees that the DAO controls.
Vector and Ecosystem Expansion
Tensor has extended beyond NFTs with Vector, a companion social trading application initially focused on cross-chain token trading. Vector allows users to broadcast trades publicly, follow other traders, and replicate strategies — a social layer on top of on-chain execution that brings a copy-trading dynamic to Solana. The Vector protocols share infrastructure with Tensor's core programs, and fees from Vector activity also flow into the TNSR treasury.
As of late 2025, Tensor continued operating its seasonal trading rewards program — Season 4 concluded on December 21, 2025 — distributing TNSR to active traders, liquidity providers, and referrers based on point accumulation over the season window.
Tensor's combination of professional execution tools, on-chain AMM liquidity, composable smart contract architecture, and community-owned governance through the TNSR token positions it as the most deeply integrated NFT trading infrastructure on Solana.
