Tether and Circle Mint $750M in Stablecoins on Solana in Single Session
Tether minted $500M USDT on Solana in under 60 minutes, while Circle simultaneously issued $250M USDC — a $750M combined stablecoin injection into the network.
On September 19, Tether USDT$0.999-0.1% minted $500 million in USDT on Solana in under 60 minutes, while Circle USDC$1.000+0.1% simultaneously issued $250 million in USDC on the same chain, a combined $750 million stablecoin injection in a single session, per Crypto Briefing. PANews, citing Whale Alert on-chain monitoring, independently confirmed the USDC minting activity on Solana with a transaction hash for the issuance.
What Simultaneous Mints From Two Issuers Signal
Stablecoin issuances originate from demand, not issuer initiative. When Tether executes a $500M mint, a counterparty (an exchange, a trading desk, or a large protocol) has already deposited collateral and requested the tokens. The same logic applies to Circle. Both issuers acting on the same day, within hours of each other, points to converging demand for stablecoin liquidity on Solana from multiple participants independently.
USDT and USDC on Solana: Supply and Holder Base
Solana Compass analytics show USDT's circulating supply on Solana at $3.84 billion as of September 19, held across 3.04 million wallets. USDC on Solana has a circulating supply of approximately $7.7 billion across 9.08 million wallets. Together the two tokens represent over $11.5 billion in combined stablecoin supply on the network, per Solana Compass analytics.
Tether first deployed USDT on Solana in September 2020. While Tron still holds a larger share of overall USDT circulation globally, Solana's USDT presence has grown consistently in the following six years.
Solana Stablecoin Throughput Reached $20B Annualized Before Today's Mints
Today's mints fit a pattern of growing stablecoin activity on Solana. Earlier today, Altitude reported reaching $20 billion in annualized stablecoin transfer volume on Solana. As transfer throughput grows, exchanges and protocols need larger on-chain stablecoin buffers to avoid liquidity gaps at peak demand.
Daily stablecoin active addresses on Solana hit 888K earlier in September, up 269% year-over-year, a usage measure running beneath the supply figures. Fresh issuance from both Tether and Circle on the same day reflects that demand reaching the issuance layer.
