Solana Token Holder Count Reaches Record 176.5 Million as SOL Trades 68% Below All-Time High
Solana's token holder count hit a new record of 176.5 million on August 23, 2026, per Token Terminal — up 5.7% from April's prior record of 166.9 million.
Solana's total token holder count has reached 176.5 million, a new all-time high for the network, according to data published by Token Terminal on its Solana metrics dashboard. The figure was shared by Token Terminal's official @tokens account on X on August 23, 2026, and surpasses the previous record of 166.9 million set in April 2026, a gain of 5.7% in roughly four months.
How Solana's Holder Base Grew from 154 Million to a New Record
Q1 2026 alone produced an 8.2% gain, lifting the count from 154.2 million at year-end 2025 to the April record, according to Investing.com. August's figure extends that growth by a further 5.7%, pushing the holder base above 176 million for the first time.
Token Terminal's leaderboard puts Solana fourth among major blockchains by total token holder count. BNB Chain leads at 364.4 million, followed by Ethereum at 327.7 million and Tron at 182.9 million. TON sits fifth at 152.3 million, 24 million behind Solana's current total.
The holder count has grown continuously across market cycles, through the meme-coin activity of late 2024 and the price drawdown that followed.
More Wallets Holding, Fewer Transacting Each Month
Record total holder counts sit alongside softer on-chain activity figures. Monthly active addresses on Solana stood at approximately 33.9 million in April 2026, down from 40 million in March 2026, according to Investing.com citing Token Terminal data.
The two metrics measure different things. Token Terminal's holder count reflects unique addresses with non-zero SPL token balances at the time of measurement; monthly active addresses count only wallets that signed a transaction in the period. The two can diverge when addresses accumulate tokens without transacting, or when previously active wallets go quiet.
SOL Price Context: 68% Below the All-Time High
SOL traded around $95 as of August 23, 2026, approximately 68% below its all-time high. Capital outflows tracked by Investing.com's April 2026 analysis show Realized Cap fell from $96.9 billion in October 2025 to $78.5 billion by April, reflecting net selling by holders who entered at higher prices.
A growing unique address count alongside a declining Realized Cap suggests newer holders entering at current prices are offsetting realized losses from those who bought closer to the peak. Holder count reflects exposure; Realized Cap reflects cost basis, and the two can move in opposite directions.
No independent outlet had published the 176.5 million figure at the time of publication. Token Terminal used identical methodology for the April 166.9 million count, which Investing.com confirmed and multiple specialist publications subsequently reported.
