Solana Processes 5.2 Billion Non-Vote Transactions in August, Surpassing All Other L1s and L2s Combined
Solana's 5.2 billion non-vote transactions in August 2026 beat all other L1s and L2s combined. Validator fee revenue climbed 80% over three months.
Solana SOL$102.06-0.4% processed 5.2 billion non-vote transactions in August 2026, its highest monthly total on record and, for the first time, more than all other L1 and L2 networks combined, according to CryptoBriefing. The figure was reported September 1 as the monthly close became available, establishing a new benchmark for application-layer activity across any public blockchain.
Non-vote transactions exclude the validator consensus messages that inflate Solana's headline totals. They measure actual application usage: DeFi swaps, transfers, stablecoin settlements, payments, and similar interactions. Because other networks do not include equivalent consensus overhead in their published counts, the non-vote methodology produces a fair basis for cross-chain comparison.
July had set the previous monthly record at 4.2 billion non-vote transactions, up 91% from December 2025. August added roughly another billion and a quarter on top of that, pushing the monthly total beyond what all other major blockchains processed together. SolanaFloor reported the milestone on September 1:
SIMD-0286 Added the Block Capacity
The structural driver was SIMD-0286, which activated on July 29 and raised Solana's per-block compute limit from 60 million to 100 million compute units. Our coverage of the SIMD-0286 activation covers the technical prerequisites in detail: over 70% of mainnet stake had to be running XDP kernel-bypass networking before the limit could safely expand. The result was a 66% increase in how much compute a single block can carry.
More compute per block means more transactions clear per slot. The 171.9 million daily peak on August 10 was followed by sustained high throughput through the rest of the month. The week of August 17 through 23 set a weekly record at 1.318 billion non-vote transactions, the fourth consecutive week above one billion. All of it accumulated into the 5.2 billion August total.
Fee Revenue Climbed 80% Over Three Months
The throughput increase translated directly into higher validator income. Seven-day average fee generation reached approximately 9,200 SOL as of August 27, an increase of more than 80% compared to three months earlier, per The Block.
Validator tip revenue from Jito JTO$0.435-2.5% averaged 2,073 SOL per day over the same seven-day window, up 26% week-over-week, per The Block. The seven-day daily average for non-vote transactions reached 191 million by late August, more than double the 88 million recorded during the comparable period one year earlier, also per The Block. Applications competing for blockspace drive priority fees upward, and validators capturing that competition see correspondingly higher income.
Solana Compass analytics tracked daily fee revenue (priority fees plus Jito tips) across August, with most days above 8,000 SOL and peaks of 11,315 SOL on August 19 and 11,537 SOL on August 27.
Validator fee revenue (priority fees plus Jito tips) averaged roughly 8,500 SOL per day in August 2026, peaking above 11,300 SOL on August 19 and August 27, per Solana Compass analytics.
View on Solana Compass โThe August 28 passage of SGP-0002, which doubled Solana's annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%, adds long-run relevance to those fee figures: as issuance falls, fee revenue carries more weight in total validator economics. The full governance outcome and its context, alongside August's price performance and ETF inflows, is covered separately.
Solana's Cross-Chain Lead on Non-Vote Transactions
Solana's August figure exceeded the combined non-vote transaction count of every other L1 and L2, on a methodology that excludes consensus overhead and allows direct comparison across networks. That result is a statement about where application demand is concentrating.
SIMD-0286 built the capacity, but capacity only produces records when applications fill it. At 5.2 billion non-vote transactions, August shows they did. Slot time fell to 350 milliseconds on August 28, and the 200ms roadmap extends that work into subsequent upgrades.
