Solana Mobile Names Ledger Its First Hardware Expansion Partner, Preinstalling the Seeker App on Ledger Atom
Solana Mobile named Ledger its first hardware expansion partner on Oct 15. Ledger Atom will ship with the Seeker app and dApp Store, targeting summer 2027.
Solana Mobile named Ledger its first hardware expansion partner on October 15, 2026, live on stage at Ledger Op3n in Paris. Under the deal, the Seeker app comes preinstalled on Ledger Atom, a new Android-based security device that Ledger plans to ship in summer 2027. The Seeker app combines the Solana dApp Store and wallet. It is the first time Solana Mobile's store and wallet will reach a device it did not build itself, according to Solana Mobile's announcement.
What the Seeker App Does on Ledger Atom
On Ledger Atom, the Seeker app sits on the home screen and opens the Solana dApp Store's catalogue to Ledger users. Ledger's own post says the app comes "preinstalled and featured on Ledger Atom's home screen, putting 1,500+ apps in front of Ledger users, with signing and approvals happening on the Secure Screen."
That last clause is the part that matters for security. Apps run on the Android side of Ledger Atom, while Solana Mobile's announcement says the device's display and touch controls are physically isolated from Android. The app requesting a signature does not control the screen where the user approves it.
For people who already own a Seeker, Solana Mobile says nothing changes. "If you own a Seeker, nothing changes, Seeker will stay fully supported," the company wrote on X. "If you build for Solana Mobile, the same Solana dApp Store submission now reaches an expanded audience across multiple devices." Emmett Hollyer, general manager of Solana Mobile, made the same pitch to developers in a clip filmed at the Paris event and posted by the Solana account.
Ledger Atom Specs, Price and Release Date
Ledger Atom runs a hardened version of the Android Open Source Project alongside Ledger OS on a Common Criteria EAL6+ certified secure element, according to Ledger's product page. In Secure Mode, Ledger OS takes over the whole display and turns off the camera, microphone and other sensors. A physical privacy switch cuts the camera and microphone at the circuit level.
The hardware is a large phone in everything but name: a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen, a 50MP camera, a 4,000mAh battery, 5G via eSIM only, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth and NFC, at 250 grams. It is a data-only device. Ledger's page states it does not support cellular voice calls or SMS and cannot call emergency services such as 112 or 911. Anyone hoping to replace a phone with it will still need a phone.
Ledger lists shipping as "summer 2027," with delivery conditional on regulatory sign-off: FCC equipment authorization in the US and conformity assessment under the EU's Radio Equipment Directive. Buyers pay a deposit now and the balance later, and the deposit is refunded in full if they cancel before paying the balance. The Block reports a Founders Edition price of $849 with a $100 refundable deposit, and a regular price of $899 after launch. The device is sold only through Ledger's official website, per the joint press release.
Why Solana Mobile Is Taking the dApp Store Beyond Seeker
The Ledger deal is the first result of a strategy Solana Mobile laid out in March 2026, when it opened the Solana Mobile Stack to Android manufacturers at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Hollyer had described hardware partnerships and a wider device network as the long-term plan in a 2025 Lightspeed interview on Solana Mobile's 10-year vision.
Solana Mobile's announcement puts Seeker at more than 200,000 devices sold, $13 billion-plus in transaction volume and 154 million transactions, with over 1,500 apps on the dApp Store. Those company-reported figures have so far been capped by how many Seekers Solana Mobile itself can sell. Putting the same store on a second manufacturer's device raises that ceiling without asking developers to do anything new.
Ledger, in turn, gets a ready-made app catalogue for its first Android device. Ian Rogers, Ledger's Chief Human Agency Officer, said in the release that "Seeker made self-custody feel natural on mobile."
SKR Rewards and the Breakpoint Tease
SKR, Solana Mobile's token, sits at the centre of the expansion pitch. Solana Mobile's blog post says SKR rewards users for participating, developers for building and hardware manufacturers for integrating, and that Seeker owners earned 100 million SKR during Seeker Summer, the reward rounds Solana Compass covered through August. Neither company has said what Atom owners will receive.
The SKR holder base was already growing before the Ledger deal. Wallets holding SKR rose from roughly 41,000 on July 18 to about 51,000 on October 14, according to Solana Compass's SKR holder data, with most of the gain arriving in steps through August and early September before levelling off near 51,000 in October.
Wallets holding SKR grew by about a quarter between mid-July and mid-October, from roughly 41,000 to about 51,000, before Ledger Atom adds any new devices.
View on Solana Compass โBoth sides pointed to Solana Breakpoint for more. Ledger's post ends "More to come at Solana Breakpoint," and a post from @m_it, the account the official Solana account cited for Solana Mobile's full announcement, promised "more to come regarding SKR and some exciting new developments at Breakpoint in a few weeks."
Ledger's Reseller Tampering Investigation
The partnership lands days after Ledger began investigating devices tampered with by a third-party seller. According to Ledger statements reported by BleepingComputer, Ledger opened an investigation on October 9 into reports of drained wallets and asked the Malaysia-based reseller CryptoBilis to stop selling. On October 10, Ledger confirmed that one affected user's device contained an unauthorized hardware implant. The company later said all reported drains were linked to devices sold through CryptoBilis and that the affected volume was limited. The Block reports onchain researchers have linked more than $86 million in suspected losses to the incident, a figure Ledger has not confirmed.
Solana Mobile addressed the timing directly. In its full announcement on X, @m_it wrote that "this past week has heightened anxiety across the hardware industry," but that the company is "committed to our expansion plans and our first partner."
The same @m_it post notes Ledger's plan for anti-tampering and tamper-evident measures from the packaging to the device. The Block describes Atom's design as detecting removal of the screen or enclosure, pairing the back cover to the device, and running tamper sensors on a separate battery when the device is off. Selling only through Ledger's own site also removes the reseller channel at the centre of the investigation.
What Changes for Solana dApp Store Developers
For developers on the Solana dApp Store, the change is distribution: one submission now targets Seeker and, once it ships, Ledger Atom. For Ledger users, Atom puts Solana apps one tap from a hardware-protected signer. The open questions are commercial ones neither company has answered yet: how many Atoms Ledger expects to sell, what SKR incentives Atom owners will see, and which manufacturer comes second.
