weRate is a Solana-based social discovery and review platform that compensates users with crypto rewards for leaving verified, authentic reviews of restaurants, bars, cafes, gyms, and other local venues.

What weRate Does

The platform positions itself against incumbents like Yelp and TripAdvisor by redirecting value from the platform to the people who generate it. Its tagline — "Turn reviews into rewards" — captures the core premise: users who check in and leave quality reviews accumulate earnings rather than contributing unpaid labor to a centralized operator. According to weRate documentation, Yelp generated $1.3 billion in 2024 revenue without compensating a single reviewer; weRate frames its model as a direct reversal of that structure.

The app targets three user archetypes: Achievers focused on status and progression, Explorers interested in venue discovery, and Socializers motivated by community interaction. Venue categories currently include restaurants, cafes, bars, and gyms, with expansion planned.

Proof-of-Authenticity Mechanism

The platform's defining technical layer is its Proof-of-Authenticity framework, which attempts to solve the fake-review problem that plagues traditional platforms. Verification layers include GPS-confirmed check-ins proving physical presence at a venue, device and behavior validation that monitors usage patterns to flag anomalous behavior, optional receipt photo uploads confirming a transaction occurred, and AI-powered checks detecting GPS spoofing and synthetic text content.

Each contribution receives a transparent Trust Score reflecting its authenticity level. Users are not required to complete every verification step; the system rewards higher authenticity with proportionally higher earnings. On-chain storage for verified reviews is planned for 2026, which will anchor proof-of-presence records to Solana without exposing personal data.

Terries: NFT Avatars and Earning Multipliers

Central to the GameFi design is the Terries system — collectible NFT companion avatars that determine a user's earning potential and gameplay multipliers. Terries are purchasable on Solana NFT marketplaces and exist across seven rarity tiers: Basic (free, unlimited), Common ($25, targeting 79% of supply), Rare ($100, 16%), Epic ($400, 4%), Legendary ($1,600, 1%), and two fusion-only tiers called Mythical and Ultimate.

Each Terry carries four attributes — Ambition, Focus, Luck, and Influence — that shape how rewards accumulate. Ambition increases XP gain; Focus boosts leaderboard points earned from detailed reviews; Luck adds a 50% leaderboard-point bonus chance per qualifying action; Influence increases credit rewards directly. Players earn one additional attribute point per level, and maximum level caps scale with rarity: Basic tops at level 20, while Ultimate can reach level 140. A planned Fusion system will allow combining two Terries to produce higher-rarity versions.

SocialFi and Leaderboard Features

weRate incorporates SocialFi mechanics alongside the avatar progression system. Users can follow trusted contributors whose venue preferences match their own, upvote reviews (up to two per day, with receivers earning experience and wisdom points), and report inappropriate content. Weekly and monthly leaderboard competitions distribute prize pools to top contributors, with separate rankings by geography, venue category, and Terry rarity tier.

A rating-star system governs review frequency: new accounts start with one star, earn additional stars through activity, and stars regenerate at one per five hours. This mechanism rate-limits spam while rewarding consistent, active contributors.

$RATE Token and Tokenomics

The platform's native token is $RATE, an SPL token on Solana with a maximum supply of 1,000,000,000. During the current beta phase, users earn Credits — non-transferable in-app tokens — rather than $RATE directly. The tradable $RATE token will be distributed following the Token Generation Event (TGE).

weRate ran a pre-sale on the Tokero launchpad at $0.0125 per token for priority users and $0.015 for standard purchasers, raising $100,000 with a first-come-first-served allocation. Post-TGE tokens vest with a three-month cliff followed by eighteen months of linear release, producing two variants: RATE (unlocked) and RATE-L (locked). The whitepaper references a 2.5% daily burn on in-app transactions with a lifetime burn cap of 25% of total supply (250 million tokens). Full tokenomics allocation tables are not publicly detailed in available documentation.

$RATE utility includes funding leaderboard reward pools, serving as an alternative payment method for Terry leveling costs alongside Credits, and enabling future governance participation as weRate evolves toward a DAO model.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

weRate is purpose-built for Solana. NFT Terries trade on Solana marketplaces, $RATE is an SPL token, and the app embeds a web3auth non-custodial wallet allowing users to transact without prior blockchain experience. The project was backed by Solana Superteam, having won the Solana Founders Villa Season 2 competition. In July 2025, weRate joined the BWMD (BuildWithMonkeDAO) program, a Solana community builder network, ahead of its planned V2 release.

Audits and Security

No public smart contract audits have been disclosed in available documentation. The Proof-of-Authenticity system relies on off-chain AI and GPS validation during the beta phase, with on-chain anchoring deferred to 2026.
