TotalSig Wallet

TotalSig Wallet implements Multi-Party Computation multisig technology enabling threshold signature schemes for collaborative asset management across various blockchain networks. The wallet supports customizable approval configurations from 2-of-2 to complex multi-signer arrangements, facilitating secure transaction authorization without exposing complete private keys. The system provides unified interface architecture across heterogeneous blockchain protocols including Bitcoin P2SH implementation and Ethereum smart contract integration while maintaining Web3 compatibility for decentralized application interaction.

TotalSig

TotalSig is a non-custodial, MPC-powered multisig wallet delivered as a Chrome extension that enables individuals, teams, and businesses to manage shared crypto assets across 11 major blockchains — including Solana — without deploying on-chain smart contracts or paying the fees that come with them.

Core Mechanism

Traditional on-chain multisig wallets enforce approval thresholds through smart contracts deployed to a blockchain. That approach requires paying a deployment fee (often $15–$20 or more on Ethereum-compatible chains), exposes the multisig logic publicly, and limits the wallet to a single chain's rules. TotalSig takes a different path: it applies Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC) at the cryptographic layer rather than the protocol layer.

Under MPC, private key material is split into shares distributed among co-signers. No single party ever holds a complete private key, and the key is never reconstructed at any point — not during setup, not during signing. Instead, co-signers compute a valid transaction signature collaboratively using their respective key shares, with the protocol guaranteeing that the full key is never exposed in memory or in transit. This approach produces a standard single-signature transaction on-chain, indistinguishable from a transaction signed by a single key. There is no on-chain multisig program to deploy, no contract to audit separately, and no chain-specific smart contract overhead.

TotalSig's implementation supports up to 32 co-signers with user-defined approval thresholds, such as 2-of-3 or 3-of-5. Because the signing logic lives off-chain, the same threshold mechanism works identically across all supported blockchains — users manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana treasuries under one unified interface without learning chain-specific multisig quirks.

Key Features

Multi-chain coverage: TotalSig currently supports 11 blockchains — Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, Solana, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Bitcoin Cash — with over 1,000 assets supported including ERC-20, BEP-20, TRC-20, TRC-10 tokens, and NFTs.

Self-custody: Users retain complete ownership of their key shares. TotalSig's servers facilitate communication between co-signers during the signing ceremony but never hold the private key or any single share that could recreate it.

Group control tools: The wallet is built with team and business use cases in mind. Multiple wallets can be created within a single account, co-signers can be added or replaced through a re-keying process, and approval workflows are customizable. DAOs, investment clubs, and businesses using shared treasuries are the primary target audience.

Chrome extension only (for now): At launch, TotalSig is available exclusively as a Google Chrome browser extension. Mobile apps for Android and iOS are listed as planned but had not shipped as of the time of this writing.

No subscription fees: TotalSig charges per-transaction network fees rather than a monthly subscription. Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Solana transactions are listed as free of TotalSig's own fee layer; Bitcoin transactions carry a $0.12 fee per operation. The company positions these rates as substantially below competitors that charge separate deployment or management fees.

Solana Integration

TotalSig's Solana support reflects the core MPC advantage: because there is no on-chain multisig program to deploy, setting up a Solana multisig wallet on TotalSig avoids the one-time deployment cost that traditional on-chain Solana multisig solutions require (historically around $20). The ongoing per-transaction fee TotalSig charges on Solana is listed as less than $0.01, compared to figures above $3 cited for some competing services.

The wallet supports the full SPL token standard, meaning any fungible SPL token and Solana NFTs are eligible for storage in a TotalSig multisig vault. The wallet also includes an automatic fee calculator that adjusts Solana transaction fees in real time to improve inclusion probability during periods of network congestion — a relevant consideration on a network capable of 65,000 transactions per second with variable priority fee markets.

TotalSig positions its Solana product at teams building shared treasuries: DAO multisigs, co-investment structures, business operating accounts, and NFT-holding group wallets.

Security and Audits

TotalSig states on its website that its codebase is "fully audited" and that it has "securely managed millions in assets without a single breach." However, the company does not publicly name the auditing firm, link to a published audit report, or specify the scope or date of any completed audit. There is a public GitHub repository (TotalSig/MultisigEthereum) covering an older Ethereum multisig contract related to the WhalesHeaven trading platform, but no published MPC cryptography audit is accessible. Independent third-party audit evidence is not publicly verifiable at the time of writing.

The wallet uses 256-bit encryption for local data and relies on standard MPC cryptographic guarantees for key security. The Chrome extension is listed on the Chrome Web Store and has drawn generally positive user reviews.

Team and History

TotalSig was founded in late 2022 by Max Zab, who serves as CEO. Zab has a background in web development — previous positions include roles at Swiss companies Local.ch and DeinDeal AG as well as international tech firms — and holds a Bachelor's degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Manchester. The company's X account (@totalsig_wallet) was created in December 2022, consistent with the founding date. The project's GitHub organization shows the codebase has older roots in a Ethereum multisig contract deployed for the WhalesHeaven exchange platform, suggesting Zab and team built shared-custody infrastructure before launching TotalSig as a standalone consumer product.

By mid-2026, TotalSig reports over 10,000 active users across premium, corporate, and white-label service tiers, more than $25 million in assets under management across its supported chains, and over 600 transactions processed daily. No external funding rounds have been announced publicly; the company appears bootstrapped or privately financed. There is no native TotalSig token.

Ecosystem Position

Within the Solana ecosystem, TotalSig occupies a niche that sits between consumer wallets and institutional custody solutions. On-chain Solana multisig programs such as Squads Protocol offer richer on-chain governance primitives, proposal queues, and programmable program upgrade controls — features that DeFi protocols and on-chain organizations require. TotalSig's MPC approach trades that on-chain composability for simplicity of setup, lower fees, and a unified multi-chain interface. A team that holds SOL and ETH alongside BTC in a shared treasury can manage all three under a single co-signer policy without learning chain-specific multisig implementations.

The Chrome extension distribution model means TotalSig is accessible to users comfortable operating through a browser without requiring mobile infrastructure or hardware wallet integration. For teams whose primary use case is secure shared storage and spending rather than on-chain protocol interaction, TotalSig offers a pragmatic starting point.
