Gate is a global cryptocurrency exchange and integrated blockchain ecosystem that has been connecting retail and institutional traders to digital asset markets since 2013. GateChain

Alongside the exchange, Gate operates GateChain, an EVM-compatible Layer-1 public blockchain designed for fast, low-cost settlement and on-chain asset security. GateChain's defining architectural feature is its vault account system: a purpose-built mechanism that provides a revocable clearing window for suspicious or accidental transactions, offering a layer of protection against asset theft and private key compromise not typically present on other chains.

GateChain uses a proof-of-stake consensus enhanced by a VRF (verifiable random function) algorithm that dynamically selects from a pool of 160 globally distributed consensus nodes at each round. This combination -- branded as GateMint consensus -- provides real-time block finality with no rollback risk. Blocks confirm in under five seconds, and gas fees average below $0.002, paid in GT, the network's native token.

The chain is fully EVM-compatible, meaning Solidity smart contracts and Ethereum-ecosystem tooling can be deployed without modification. In August 2024, GateChain adopted an EIP-1559 fee model, introducing a dynamic base fee that is burned and a tip directed to validators and delegators. In September 2025, the mainnet upgraded to versions 19 and 20, adding support for blob transactions per EIP-4844 to provide low-cost data availability for Layer-2 solutions built on top of the chain.

Ecosystem Products

The GateChain ecosystem includes a multi-chain Gate Wallet with support for more than 100 blockchain networks, Gate Scan (the native block explorer), a cross-chain swap integrated via Stargate Finance and LayerZero, Gate Perp DEX for on-chain perpetual trading, Gate Fun (a token launchpad), and Meme Go (a trending meme token tracker). Public RPC endpoints and testnet faucets are available for developers, and community members can participate as validators or delegators.

GT Token

GT is the native token of GateChain and plays a central role in the broader Gate ecosystem. It is used to pay transaction fees on GateChain, participate in consensus staking, and access benefits within the exchange. GT holders earn staking rewards of up to 20% by delegating to consensus nodes, and the EIP-1559 base fee burn mechanism reduces circulating supply over time as on-chain activity grows.

Solana Integration

Gate supports SOL trading across multiple pairs and offers a dedicated liquid staking product for Solana. When users stake SOL through Gate, they receive GTSOL, a yield-bearing certificate token whose price increases linearly as the underlying delegation generates staking rewards on the Solana network. GTSOL can be redeemed for SOL at the prevailing exchange rate at any time and can also be used as collateral or traded on the platform. Advertised APR for SOL staking through Gate stands at up to 8.50% with daily reward payouts. This product brings Solana's proof-of-stake staking rewards within reach of exchange users who would otherwise need to interact directly with Solana validators.

Security and Reserves

Gate has maintained a proof-of-reserves practice to provide verifiable evidence of solvency. As of January 2026, its published reserve coverage ratio stood at 125%, with total reserves of $9.478 billion -- meaning customer assets held on the exchange are fully backed with an additional 25% buffer. Merkle-tree-based verification allows individual users to confirm their funds are included in the reserve snapshot.

Regulatory Status

Gate has pursued regulatory licensing across multiple jurisdictions. Gate Technology Ltd in Malta received a MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) license from the Malta Financial Services Authority in October 2025, which passports across all 30 EEA member states and permits both crypto exchange and custody services. The same entity added a PSD2 Payment Institution license in February 2026. Gate Technology FZE, the Dubai-based subsidiary, obtained a full operational license from the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) in April 2025.

Ecosystem Fit on Solana

Gate functions primarily as a centralized liquidity gateway into the Solana ecosystem rather than a protocol native to Solana.
