Fuse Wallet
Fuse is a Solana smart wallet, designed to enhance digital asset management with multifactor authentication and programmable smart accounts. By leveraging Solana's Squads Protocol, Fuse eliminates traditional seed phrases, utilizing a multisig approach that requires 2 out of 3 keys for transactions. It enhances security while offering features like spending limits, social recovery, and gas abstraction for a seamless user experience.
Fuse Wallet
[[PROJECT:727]] is a mobile wallet for Solana that replaces the conventional seed-phrase model with programmable smart accounts built on [[PROJECT:234]] Protocol. Developed by Squads Labs, the company behind the smart account infrastructure that the team claims secures more than $10 billion in assets on the Solana Virtual Machine, Fuse targets consumers who want everyday financial utility rather than a general-purpose onchain tool. Founded in December 2022, the app launched on the Apple App Store and remains iOS-only.
Smart Accounts Instead of Seed Phrases
The wallet's core distinction is its security architecture. Rather than generating a single private key whose loss or theft destroys access to funds, each Fuse wallet deploys a smart account on Solana that requires approval from two independent key sources for every transaction.
The first is a Device Key, stored locally on the user's phone and protected by biometric authentication (Face ID). The second is a 2FA Key, stored in iCloud by default but upgradeable to a hardware wallet such as a Ledger device. Both must authorize each transaction, removing the single point of failure present in standard wallet designs.
For account recovery, Fuse supports up to three Recovery Keys with restricted authority. These exist solely to restore access if a primary key is lost, and are separate from the transaction keys. The wallet also offers key rotation, allowing users to replace a compromised key without moving funds.

This architecture trades ecosystem breadth for security predictability. Fuse deliberately does not support external dApp connections, so users cannot plug the wallet directly into DeFi protocols or NFT marketplaces. The wallet's own blog acknowledges this tradeoff, suggesting users keep a separate wallet such as Phantom for broader ecosystem interactions.
Fuse also abstracts transaction fees: the app covers SOL network costs on behalf of users, so stablecoin holders do not need to maintain a separate SOL balance for gas.
Financial Features
Fuse groups its financial tools around four use cases: earning yield, staking, swapping, and spending.
Fuse Earn lets users deposit [[TOKEN:EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v]] (USDC) to earn yield. The underlying venues have included Drift protocol, and in March 2025 Fuse added Lulo Protect as an additional yield source. Independent reviews as of mid-2025 cited yields of up to 7%, though rates vary by underlying protocol and market conditions.
For staking, users can stake SOL natively through the app. Fuse also offers a liquid staking option via fuseSOL, which lets users accumulate staking rewards while retaining the ability to swap or use the position.
Token swaps within the app route through [[PROJECT:219]] and carry no additional fee from Fuse itself, though standard DEX execution economics apply at the protocol level.
Fuse Card is a virtual Visa debit card that lets users spend stablecoin balances at any merchant accepting Visa across 18 or more countries. In the United States, the card is available except in New York, Louisiana, Florida, and Alaska. The card is issued by Lead Bank, with Bridge Ventures LLC as Program Manager. Fuse also generates virtual US bank account details supporting ACH and SEPA transfers; converting USDC to fiat takes one to two days and carries a fee of approximately 0.5 percent plus one dollar. A paid subscription tier, Fuse Plus, raises the free transfer cap to $25,000 per month.
Fuse applies token-level spending limits: users can set a cap for a specific asset over a defined timeframe, an additional control layer beyond the two-key transaction authorization.
Squads Labs and the Broader Context
Squads Labs built Squads Protocol as multisig and smart account infrastructure for Solana teams, then applied that architecture to a consumer product. The Compass library covers the Breakpoint 2024 keynote where Squads Labs introduced Protocol V5 alongside early Fuse payment features, as well as a Lightspeed podcast in which the team described their smart account strategy for Solana. Both trace how the consumer wallet grew from infrastructure built for institutional and developer use cases.
Availability
As of mid-2025, Fuse is available only on iOS via the Apple App Store. Android support has not been announced. The absence of external dApp integration is a stated design decision, positioning Fuse as a financial account rather than a generalist crypto browser. Users who need access to the broader Solana DeFi and NFT ecosystem require a second wallet alongside it.
The geographic restriction on Fuse Card in four US states traces to the regulatory requirements of the banking and program management partners handling card issuance.
