About

AgriDex

AgriDex is a blockchain-based agricultural commodity trading platform built on Solana. Founded in 2020 and described by its team as "built by farmers, for farmers," the platform targets what it describes as the $2.7 trillion global agricultural market by replacing traditional commodity brokers with smart-contract-based settlement and NFT-recorded trade documentation.

What AgriDex Does

The platform connects agricultural producers, cooperatives, and buyers across 34 markets for direct peer-to-peer commodity and farmland transactions. Sellers list agricultural goods — including grains, oilseeds, coffee, wine, and sugar — or fractional farmland ownership stakes, and buyers settle trades using USDC stablecoins. Each completed transaction is recorded as an NFT on Solana, capturing product details, pricing, payment terms, and counterparty information.

Settlement converts fiat via Stripe's Bridge technology, supporting 22 currencies. The platform routes cross-border payments in 2–4 hours compared to the weeks-long settlement times typical of traditional commodity trading. One user testimonial cited on the platform reports a wire arriving "in seconds rather than days" at a cost of £5.

AgriDex integrates AI-based document scrapers to automate verification of trade documents and reduce fraud. The platform also offers modules for crop insurance, trade finance, and ESG disclosure reporting.

Token: $AGRI

AgriDex launched its native token, $AGRI, on December 4, 2024, via an IEO on Gate.io (December 2–17, 2024) at a price of $0.065 per token. The IEO raised $9.05 million. Total supply is fixed at 1,000,000,000 AGRI tokens.

Token allocations include ecosystem development (30%), investors (27%), treasury (15–18%), team and shareholders (10–22.5%), liquidity (8%), and partners (8%). The next major vesting unlock is scheduled for December 4, 2028.

Token utility includes governance voting, fee payment discounts, liquidity rewards, and planned staking for sustainability project funding. AgriDex commits 50% of platform profits to token buybacks and donates 5% of profits to the AgriDex Foundation.

As of early 2026, $AGRI trades well below its IEO price, with current market capitalization in the low hundreds of thousands of dollars range.

Team and Funding

AgriDex was co-founded by Henry Duckworth (CEO), a former Trafigura commodities trader, and Russell Duckworth (Executive Chairman), an early investor in DeepMind and former Head of Global Equity Research at Deutsche Bank. The broader team of 15-plus members includes regional leads across Africa and APAC with backgrounds at Citadel, Goldman Sachs, Google, and Deutsche Bank. David Campbell OBE chairs the AgriDex Foundation. Advisors include Fiona Hill CBE and Dr. Edem Adzogenu.

Funding rounds include a $5 million pre-seed in May 2024 from investors Endeavour Ventures, Parrogate, Oldenburg Vineyards, African Crops, and Hank Oberoi. A $4 million strategic round closed in December 2024, led by Portal Ventures, at a reported post-money valuation of $28.5 million.

Geographic Reach and Traction

AgriDex operates across 34 markets: East Africa (Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia), Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Mauritius, DRC), West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso), Europe (UK, SEPA Euro Zone, Switzerland, Iceland), and APAC (Singapore, Indonesia), with settlement support extending to Brazil and India.

Reported trade volume includes 100,000 tonnes of wheat, 20 million litres of olive oil, and 45,000 tons of sugar processed through the platform. AgriDex has also facilitated a $165,000 farmland sale in Zambia, wine and olive oil shipments from South Africa to London, and coffee trades between the UK and South Africa with rand-to-GBP currency conversion. Its Loam trade finance module targets $40 million in transaction volume.

Sucafina Coffee's Head of African Treasury has cited the platform as "the future of African money transfer." Nick Ducoff, Head of Institutional Growth at the Solana Foundation, has named $AGRI alongside Ondo Finance as a key Solana RWA project.
