X Cashtag Trade Button Goes Live in US, Routing $SOL and Stocks to Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini

X's official account posted three words on the evening of September 21: "timeline. ticker. trade." The phrase marked the platform's formal promotion of its US Cashtag Partner Program, a feature that attaches a Trade button to supported tickers inside posts. By September 22, CoinDesk confirmed the program is live.

SOL is among the supported assets. Tapping $SOL in a post now surfaces a live price chart and related discussion inside X, then offers a Trade button that routes the user to one of three crypto exchange partners: Coinbase cbBTC$85,971.10+3.0%, Kraken, or Gemini. X does not execute orders, hold funds, or act as a licensed broker. The order is placed, settled, and custodied by whichever partner the user selects.

How the Cashtag Trade Button Works

The flow keeps users inside X until the moment they commit to placing an order. Tapping a cashtag opens a panel with a live price chart and related posts. Selecting Trade redirects to the chosen partner's platform, where the user logs in or signs up, completes know-your-customer checks, funds the account, and places the order.

Five Partners Split Across Crypto and Traditional Brokerage

The program launched with five partners, grouped by asset class:

SOL, the native token of Solana SOL$117.03+1.9%, is supported across all three crypto exchange partners. Coinbase and Kraken both list it on their core platforms; Gemini names it in its launch lineup. Interactive Brokers and Moomoo cover stocks and ETFs only. Availability at each partner reflects its own product lineup and customer eligibility rules, so not every ticker is accessible at every partner.

$SOL Among Five Cryptos Named on Gemini at Launch

Gemini's launch integration covers five named cryptocurrencies: ZEC, HYPE, BTC, ETH, and SOL, according to Glitchwire. Users who select Gemini from the Trade panel are routed to Gemini's platform to complete the transaction.

The feature is US-only and mobile-only at launch. X does not publish a full list of supported tickers; the scope of what each partner will accept depends on that partner's US licensing and product decisions.

Mert Mumtaz, CEO of Helius, reacted publicly to the announcement on September 21: "actually zolana... incredible... trillions." The official Solana account posted "Ayo." Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana co-founder, also responded publicly the same day.

The platform where SOL is most actively discussed now connects directly to an order ticket. X reaches 132 million daily mobile users and 245 million users globally, according to Cryptonomist. For many of those users, tapping $SOL in a post while following a trade or an ecosystem discussion is a shorter path to a live account than opening a separate exchange app.

US-Only at Launch, Expansion Signaled

The Cashtag Partner Program is restricted to US users on mobile at this stage. X has stated plans to extend X Money to the UK and EU; no timeline for the Cashtag program to follow has been confirmed.

The X integration lands as Solana's retail and institutional distribution has grown considerably. US spot Solana ETFs logged 12 consecutive weeks of net inflows totaling $1.4 billion as of September 20. Tokenized equity volume on Solana crossed $6 billion via xStocks earlier this month.
