Solflare will pay stakers the rewards they missed since 26 October if they move their SOL to its new validator by 1 November 2026, the wallet says. The move is a one-tap "Move your stake" option that went live in the Solflare app on 29 October. According to Solflare's staking update, the compensation lands in wallets automatically during November, with nothing to claim.

The deadline falls on Sunday, 1 November, and most of the stake has not moved yet. Solana Compass data for epoch 1072 (30 October) shows about 1.47 million SOL still on the old "Solflare (Legacy)" validator. The new one held roughly 149,000 SOL. That leaves about 91% of the stake across the two where it earns nothing.

What Solflare's compensation covers and the November 1 deadline

Solflare says it will cover the rewards stakers missed in epochs 1068 to 1074, which it dates as 26 October to 1 November. The condition, in Solflare's announcement on X: "Move your stake from Solflare (Legacy) to the new Solflare validator by November 1 and you'll receive compensation for staking rewards missed since October 26."

CoinDesk reported the pledge on 29 October, citing Stakewiz data showing about 1.56 million SOL delegated to the legacy validator. Solana Compass shows 1,559,221 SOL active there in epoch 1070, in line with that figure.

Several details are still open. Solflare has not said whether "by November 1" means a move started by that date or stake already active on the new validator by then. As CoinDesk noted, stake changes on Solana take effect at the end of an epoch, so a move made on the last day may not be active until after it. Nor has Solflare said who funds the payments or on what date in November they arrive.

One cost is not covered. Solflare replied on X on 28 October: "We won't be covering instant unstake fees, but there's no need to use instant unstaking."

How to move your stake to the new Solflare validator

The Solflare app handles the move in three steps: update Solflare to the latest version, open Staking and tap "Move your stake", then review the details and slide to confirm. The blog says the screen shows the move from "Solflare (Legacy)" to "Solflare" before you confirm. Rewards restart once the stake is active on the new validator.

Solflare splits its advice by size. In a follow-up post, the company says stakers with more than 1 SOL should use the migration flow, while for less than 1 SOL "we'll recommend unstaking your SOL instead." The post does not say whether positions under 1 SOL still qualify for compensation.

For anyone delegating outside the app, the blog lists the new validator's vote account as 48Za4qpPrYz7v7aDhPhjHZwh7ahtWkye8vjqDYEUy9iV. Solflare also warns that it "will never DM you or send you a link" and that the move should happen only in the Solflare app.

Doing nothing leaves the SOL in place but unproductive. According to the blog, Solflare (Legacy) no longer earns rewards, and once it has been offline for five epochs Solflare will deactivate the remaining stake so it can be withdrawn or staked elsewhere. Stakers can also unstake at any time and pick a different validator; our validator rankings compare them by commission and performance.

Why delegated SOL stayed in stakers' own stake accounts

Staking on Solana does not hand coins to the validator. Your SOL sits in a stake account that your wallet's keys control, and the stake account only points at a validator, the computer that votes on blocks and earns rewards on your behalf. Whoever runs that validator cannot move the SOL. As Solflare put it in its first notice on 27 October, "the Solana protocol does not allow a validator, or anyone holding its keys, to move it."

So the damage from the incident was to rewards, and no staked SOL moved. Solflare's blog says the keys to the Solflare validator were compromised on 26 October at its previous staking provider, Blockdaemon, which notified Solflare the next day. Blockdaemon's incident report says operator keys for "a small set of our oldest running validators" were compromised between 26 and 27 October, and that "Delegated SOL stays in each delegator's own stake account, and none of it was moved." Blockdaemon says its investigation is ongoing.

Staking Facilities runs the new validator while Solflare keeps the controlling key

The replacement splits ownership from operations. Solflare says it holds the key that controls the new validator and receives its rewards directly, while Staking Facilities manages the machines with separate operational keys. In Solflare's words, Staking Facilities is "a team we've worked with since Solana Beach in 2020," and the arrangement is "Ownership and operations, separated."

In practice, Staking Facilities keeps the validator running day to day, while the key that controls it and the account that collects its income stay with Solflare. A company that rents a building but keeps the deed and the rent account is a fair comparison.

Solflare's 29 October blog puts the new validator's yield at around 4.69% APY and says it charges a lower commission than the legacy one. Solflare has not published either commission rate.

Solana Compass data: how much stake has left Solflare (Legacy)

Stake has drained from the legacy validator every epoch since 1069, and far less of it has arrived at the new one. Active stake on Solflare (Legacy) fell from 1,688,746 SOL in epoch 1069 to 1,472,491 SOL in epoch 1072, a drop of about 216,000 SOL or 12.8%, according to the legacy validator's page on Solana Compass. The new Solflare validator first showed active stake in epoch 1071 with 20,448 SOL, rising to 149,416 SOL across 701 stake accounts in epoch 1072.

Active stake on Solflare's legacy and new validators, epochs 1069-1072 (SOL)

As of epoch 1072 (30 October), about 1.47 million SOL was still active on Solflare (Legacy) against 149,416 SOL on the new Solflare validator, per Solana Compass.

The two figures do not measure the same flow. Stake leaving the legacy validator may have been unstaked or delegated elsewhere, and the in-app flow only opened late on 29 October. The next two epochs will show how many of the roughly 57,000 stake accounts Compass counts on the legacy validator switch before the 1 November deadline.
