Phoenix Trade Launches Flight Club With $420,000 USDC in Rewards After Crossing $1 Billion in Unincentivized Perpetuals Volume
Phoenix Trade's Flight Club pays out $420,000 USDC over 28 days, the first incentive program from Ellipsis Labs' Solana perps exchange after $1B in volume.
Phoenix launched Flight Club on July 27, its first-ever trader rewards program, one day after the platform crossed $1 billion in cumulative perpetuals volume on Solana. That volume came entirely without token incentives of any kind.
The program runs from July 27 through August 23, distributing USDC at $15,000 per day across 28 consecutive days for a total of $420,000, according to the official @PhoenixTrade announcement. The daily reward window closes at 19:00 UTC, with payouts distributed to eligible traders within the following 24 hours. There is no vesting: rewards are withdrawable as straight USDC.
How Phoenix Flight Club Rewards Are Calculated
Traders earn a share of the daily pool based on four activity types: trading volume, open interest, referral volume, and activity streak bonuses. The weighting rewards both active trading and position-holding, so traders who carry open positions through the daily window accumulate points alongside those turning over raw volume. Referrals add a third stream for users who bring new traders onto the platform.
Trades routed through Imperial, a Solana perps terminal that aggregates order flow across multiple venues including Phoenix, also qualify for Flight Club rewards per the program terms. Imperial routes trades to Jupiter Perps, Flash Trade, Phoenix, and GMTrade depending on execution parameters; Flight Club creates an additional pull for activity that lands on Phoenix through that funnel.
No access codes are required to participate. Phoenix dropped its waitlist for the Flight Club launch.
$1 Billion in Volume Before the First Incentive
The milestone Phoenix is celebrating preceded the incentive program. @0xShitTrader noted on July 27 that the platform had crossed $1 billion in all-time perpetuals volume "all unincentivized," adding: "A big milestone, and obviously still a very long way to go. Thanks to all the traders that make Phoenix what it is today. Now it's time to turn on the spigot."
The distinction matters. Protocols that bootstrap volume with token rewards routinely see that volume disappear when the incentives stop. Phoenix had no governance token to distribute. Its users arrived and traded because the product delivered the execution they needed. The $1 billion reflects demand the platform did not manufacture.
Anatoly Yakovenko quote-tweeted the announcement with "First rule of fight club," a brief nod from Solana's co-founder that signals the milestone registers within the ecosystem.
Phoenix's On-Chain Architecture and Asset Roster
Ellipsis Labs built Phoenix Perpetuals on the foundation of the Phoenix spot orderbook it launched in 2023 and the SolFi AMM introduced in 2024. The derivatives platform uses a proprietary AMM mechanism optimized for perpetuals liquidity, allowing market makers to update quotes more cost-efficiently than a traditional on-chain limit orderbook.
The platform targets tighter price impact than competing on-chain venues, per the Ellipsis Labs product introduction. Retail traders pay no gas fees while maintaining fully on-chain, self-custodied execution. Margin stays in a trader's wallet throughout, not on a platform balance sheet.
Phoenix's perpetuals catalog covers crypto majors including SOL, BTC, and ETH, plus a growing roster of tokenized equity perpetuals: Alphabet, Tesla, Micron, AMD, Intel, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, SanDisk, and CoreWeave, as covered when those stock listings launched in June. Commodity perpetuals are also available. All markets run 24/7 with no exchange-hours restrictions.
In June, Phoenix hit $8.8 million in open interest at an all-time high on DeFiLlama and launched mobile browser access without requiring an app download.
On July 27, the day of the Flight Club announcement, 786 unique wallet addresses signed transactions on the Phoenix Perps program, up from 402 the prior day and roughly nine times the ~87-per-day average the program was logging in late June while still in private beta, per Solana Compass program analytics.
Daily signers on the Phoenix Perps program hit 786 on July 27 when Flight Club launched, near the prior high of 849 on July 16 and above the 340β580 range that marked most other days in the two prior weeks.
View on Solana Compass βWhere Phoenix Fits in Solana's Perpetuals Market
Solana's perpetuals DEX sector logged $183.2 billion in Q2 2026 volume per SolanaFloor, its strongest quarter. Jupiter Perps runs the sector's largest liquidity pool. Drift operates the largest orderbook-style perpetuals venue on Solana, with markets across BTC, ETH, SOL, and 30-plus assets. Flash Trade V2 launched with MagicBlock-powered execution in late June.
Phoenix occupies a distinct position in that competitive field. Its on-chain orderbook model prioritizes execution precision and tight spreads over maximum leverage, and its equity and commodity perpetuals catalog puts it alongside other venues building 24/7 access to traditional-market assets. Flight Club is its first move to compete directly on incentives.
The $420,000 allocation, around $15,000 per day for four weeks, is modest against the multi-billion-dollar pools competitors maintain. What it reflects is sequencing: Phoenix grew the volume first, then decided to pay for more of it. That order is somewhat unusual in a market where incentive-first programs are the default.
