Backpack Securities Drops Stock Trading Fees to Zero Through July as Brokerage Platform Accelerates
Backpack Securities is waiving all US stock trading fees through July 2026, citing brokerage acceleration and a broader tokenized securities roster on Solana.
Backpack dropped trading fees to zero on all US stocks through the end of July, framing the move as part of an accelerating brokerage buildout.
"No fees on stock trading through July," the company posted on June 30. "We're keeping access to US stocks frictionless as Backpack Securities accelerates, with major brokerage upgrades and more tokenized securities on the way."
The announcement arrives as Backpack has established itself as the dominant venue for tokenized equity trading on Solana. The platform accounts for the majority of the $1.36 billion in weekly tokenized stock volume on Solana, per Dune Analytics data, across a base of more than 262,300 unique addresses holding tokenized positions.
Fee Waiver Targets Backpack's Growing Tokenized Equity User Base
The timing is deliberate. Solana's tokenized equity market has been growing fast enough that tokenized assets flipped memecoins in Solana spot volume on a daily basis, with the $644 million daily all-time high set on June 24. Removing trading commissions for July extends that momentum without any change to the product itself.
Backpack co-founder buffalu set out the platform's structural position the day before the fee announcement: tokenized stocks on Backpack Securities are backed 1:1 by real shares held in custody, and positions are redeemable for the actual stock โ not synthetic price exposure. That structure has driven adoption among users seeking genuine equity exposure rather than a derivative wrapper.
Solana as a whole now captures roughly 95% of global on-chain tokenized equity trading volume, per Dune Analytics. Backpack's share of that total is the largest of any single venue on the network.
What Backpack Securities Offers: 1:1-Backed US Stocks on Solana
Backpack Securities operates as a registered US broker-dealer offering roughly 1,000 US equities and ETFs with 24/5 trading hours, per platform documentation. Each tokenized share is backed 1:1 by a real share held in custody, making positions redeemable for the underlying equity, a structure distinct from synthetic tokenized stock products that track price without conferring the underlying security.
The platform has been expanding its tokenized securities roster consistently. In the past two weeks, it added SanDisk (SNDK launched June 24) and the Roundhill memory chip ETF ($DRAM listed June 26). The June 30 announcement promises more tokenized securities alongside "major brokerage upgrades" โ language pointing toward infrastructure improvements rather than simply listing additional assets.
On the product side, as covered on June 26, Backpack shipped a dividends tracking tab, USDT0 deposits via Tempo, and light mode in a single-day sprint, illustrating the pace of platform development running in parallel with the securities expansion.
Solana's Tokenized Stock Volume Milestone Sets the Context
Raydium crossed $3 billion in cumulative tokenized equity volume on June 27, with the most recent $1 billion added in a single month โ a benchmark that reflects how quickly the sector has scaled on Solana. Backpack's 262,300+ unique address count and $1.36 billion in weekly volume, per Dune Analytics, are the current measures of the ecosystem Backpack leads within xStocks AAPLx$334.64-0.1%.
The "major brokerage upgrades" teased in the announcement have not been detailed publicly. July's zero-fee window gives users a frictionless point of entry while the platform's next product phase takes shape.
