Spritz is a decentralized, permissionless messaging and social platform designed for Web3 users who want communications infrastructure that cannot be censored or shut down through any single point of control. Built by Spritz Labs and delivered as a Progressive Web App (PWA) at app.spritz.chat, the platform routes messages through the Logos Messaging network — formerly known as Waku — a peer-to-peer relay protocol with no central server. Users can send encrypted messages, make HD video calls, broadcast livestreams, and deploy AI agents, all without registering an email address or phone number.
How It Works
The core of Spritz's censorship resistance is its messaging layer. Rather than routing communications through company-controlled infrastructure, messages travel through the Logos Messaging (Waku) network, a distributed relay system where no single node operator can selectively block or surveil conversations. Direct messages are encrypted using AES-256-GCM with keys derived via Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) key exchange. Each user has a deterministic public key generated from their identity, enabling peers to derive shared symmetric keys without any central key authority.
For reliability and offline access, Spritz optionally backs messages up to Supabase, a persistent database layer that complements the ephemeral nature of Waku's relay network. This hybrid approach lets users retrieve message history when reconnecting after going offline, while the primary routing remains decentralized.
Identity and Authentication
Spritz eliminates traditional credential requirements. Users establish a "Spritz ID" through any of several identity mechanisms: WebAuthn passkeys, EVM-compatible wallets via Sign-In With Ethereum (SIWE), Solana wallets via Sign-In With Solana (SIWS), email, World ID, or Alien ID. More than 300 wallets are supported through Reown's wallet connection infrastructure.
For Solana users specifically, Phantom and Solflare wallets can authenticate directly using SIWS, assigning the Solana address as the user's on-platform identity. This makes Spritz accessible to the Solana ecosystem without requiring users to hold or manage EVM assets. Passkey registration is required if a Solana-authenticated user wants to additionally access the platform's Smart Wallet functionality on EVM chains.
Communication Features
Messaging: End-to-end encrypted text messaging, voice messages, link previews, and group conversations are available across all authenticated devices. Users can exchange contact details via QR codes and customize their profiles with pixel art avatars.
Video Calls: HD video and voice calls are powered by Huddle01's decentralized real-time communications network, with optional end-to-end encryption. Huddle01 uses a distributed media server architecture rather than centralized WebRTC servers.
Livestreaming: Users can broadcast live to their followers using WebRTC/WHIP ingest to Livepeer's decentralized transcoding and delivery network. Streams are automatically recorded and available for replay via HLS playback. This positions Spritz as an alternative to centralized platforms for content creators who want platform-level censorship resistance over their distribution.
Smart Wallet
Users who register a passkey gain access to a Spritz Smart Wallet built on Safe's ERC-4337 account abstraction infrastructure. This supports gas-sponsored transactions on Ethereum Layer 2 networks (Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Unichain) and USDC-based gas payments on Ethereum mainnet. Token balances are indexed through The Graph. The Smart Wallet is EVM-only; Solana users can hold a Solana identity on Spritz but manage on-chain activity through their Solana wallet separately.
AI Agents
Spritz includes a beta AI agent system allowing users to deploy custom agents powered by Google Gemini 2.0 Flash. Agents can be configured with a custom knowledge base using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for domain-specific answers, and supplemented with live web search grounding for current information. Each agent can be monetized through the x402 micropayment protocol — an HTTP-native payment standard — enabling agent creators to charge per-query fees in supported assets. A built-in points and leaderboard system provides additional incentives for platform participation.
Technical Stack and Open Source Status
The Spritz application is built on Next.js 16 and maintained in a public GitHub repository at github.com/Spritz-Labs/spritz, which had accumulated over 1,280 commits as of mid-2026, reflecting sustained development activity. The repository is licensed under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0, making the source code available to inspect and run non-commercially while requiring a separate agreement for commercial use. Technical integrations include Google Gemini (AI), Livepeer (livestreaming), Safe and Pimlico (smart accounts), Reown (wallet connections), and The Graph (on-chain data indexing).
Solana Fit
Spritz sits within the broader decentralized communications (DeCom) category on Solana, targeting users who authenticate with Phantom or Solflare wallets. Its primary value to the Solana ecosystem is as a communications layer: wallet-to-wallet messaging, video, and live content distribution without platform custody of identity or content routing. Spritz does not use Solana for smart contract execution or on-chain messaging — Solana integration is at the identity and authentication layer via SIWS. The platform is multi-chain by design, with EVM chains handling the financial (Smart Wallet) side. There is no native token associated with Spritz.
