Reown

Reown builds the infrastructure that blockchain applications use to connect with wallets, accept payments, and measure user behavior. The company incorporated in June 2024 as the rebranded successor to WalletConnect Inc., and it is the primary steward of the [[PROJECT:676]] protocol that underpins wallet connectivity across the industry. Its tools are in production across 70,000 apps, supported by 700-plus wallets and 20-plus network node operators, moving billions in value annually according to Reown's website.

AppKit: Developer SDK for Onchain Applications

The company's primary developer product is AppKit, an open-source SDK that handles wallet connections, user authentication, payments, and analytics through a single integration. AppKit connects to the WalletConnect Network, giving apps access to over 600 wallet integrations, alongside email and social login options for users who do not hold a self-custodied wallet.

Authentication covers Sign In With Ethereum (SIWE) and its multichain equivalent SIWX, which extends the same sign-in primitive beyond EVM-compatible chains. Smart account support ships as a standard feature, allowing apps to offer sponsored transactions or batched operations on chains that support account abstraction.

AppKit supports more than twelve development frameworks. Web options include React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, Nuxt, vanilla JavaScript, and Unity for browser targets. Mobile options include React Native, Flutter, Android, iOS, and Unity for native targets. Solana is supported across all web frameworks and React Native and Flutter; native Android and iOS builds currently use EVM and Bitcoin adapters only.

On the payments side, AppKit includes on-ramp services for fiat-to-crypto conversions and a swap interface. Swaps are currently scoped to EVM chains. The SDK also ships a built-in analytics layer that surfaces session data, wallet distribution, chain usage, and drop-off points, so product teams can instrument onboarding without adding a separate analytics stack.

WalletConnect Pay and Solana

Reown also operates WalletConnect Pay, a payments infrastructure layer that routes crypto payments from any of the 700-plus integrated wallets to merchants, without requiring merchants to integrate each wallet individually. In June 2026, Reown expanded WalletConnect Pay to support Solana, adding SOL, USDC, and USDT as spendable currencies at participating merchants. The expansion moved beyond WalletConnect Pay's initial EVM coverage and positioned Solana's native stablecoins alongside its base asset as practical spending instruments at merchant point-of-sale.

Payments through WalletConnect Pay flow through self-custodial wallets. The user's funds remain in wallet custody through the transaction rather than passing through a custodial intermediary.

Solana Integration History

Reown's relationship with Solana developed in stages. At Breakpoint 2024, WalletConnect CEO Jess Houlgrave outlined the network's Solana plans, covering decentralization of the WalletConnect relay network, an upcoming network token, and Solana integration as a priority chain. At Accelerate 2025, Reown announced that the WalletConnect Network's native token would launch on Solana, placing the network's incentive and governance layer on the same chain as one of its fastest-growing developer communities.

The AppKit Solana adapters followed from these commitments. Developers building on Solana now access the same SDK and modal interface as their EVM counterparts, with chain-specific adapters managing the differences in transaction signing, account models, and connection protocols under the surface.

Developer Tooling and Compliance Features

Beyond AppKit and WalletConnect Pay, Reown publishes developer tooling for wallet builders. WalletKit (referenced in documentation alongside AppKit) targets wallet developers rather than application developers, providing the client-side implementation that enables wallets to receive and respond to WalletConnect session requests.

Reown has also built compliance features into AppKit, including transaction screening. A blog post from mid-2025 addressed Travel Rule requirements, describing how AppKit can flag or block transactions that fail compliance checks. The company has positioned this capability for apps operating in regulated environments where basic wallet connectivity is not sufficient.

Recent Product Updates

Reown shipped a redesigned developer dashboard in May 2026 offering expanded visibility into session-level data, wallet distribution, and user behavior across integrations. The company published a State of DeFi 2026 industry report in March 2026 covering onchain user patterns and decentralized finance trends. Legacy pricing plans were retired effective June 30, 2026, moving the full customer base onto current plan structures. A July 2026 analysis examined which blockchain networks are suited for stablecoin deployment, reflecting Reown's increasing focus on stablecoin payment infrastructure.

Background and Network Architecture

The WalletConnect Network that Reown develops and maintains is a decentralized relay network built from 20-plus independent node operators. When a user connects a wallet to an app, the session is encrypted end-to-end and relayed through the network rather than through a centralized Reown server. Reown publishes the open-source client libraries (AppKit, WalletKit) that both sides of the connection use, and runs commercial services including the developer dashboard, on-ramp integrations, and the Pay merchant network on top of the underlying open protocol.
