Breakpoint 2024: Product Keynote: Birdeye (Kha Nguyen)
Birdeye, the leading analytics platform for Solana, drops bombshell announcements at Breakpoint 2024, promising to revolutionize how traders interact with on-chain data. ... At Solana Breakpoint 2024, Kha Nguyen, co-founder of Birdeye, unveiled three major upgrades set to transform the platform's user experience.
Birdeye
Birdeye (birdeye.so) is an on-chain market data platform for crypto traders and developers. It is not Birdeye.com, the unrelated review-management software company that shares the name. Birdeye launched on Solana in 2021 and, as of October 2026, its data API lists 17 supported networks. It has two products on one data layer: a free web terminal (with a paid Pro tier) for screening tokens, reading charts and tracking wallets, and Birdeye Data, a REST and WebSocket API that other apps build on. Its standout is depth on Solana DEX trading: new pools, trades, holders and wallet profit and loss, aggregated from what its X profile describes as 300+ exchanges.
How Birdeye works: one data layer for traders and apps
Birdeye indexes trades and liquidity from decentralised exchanges and launchpads, then decodes them into prices, candles, holder lists and per-wallet histories. On Solana that means venues such as Jupiter JUP$0.363-2.1%, Raydium RAY$2.35-0.4%, Orca ORCA$2.42+130,065.4% and Meteora MET$0.422+2.2%, plus launchpads: in September 2026 Birdeye added the Genius Terminal launchpad to its data, and its analysts have published StonkFun trader figures drawn from the same feed (Birdeye Data on X).
The same dataset serves both audiences. A trader sees it on a token page at birdeye.so. A developer pulls it through the Birdeye Data API. Birdeye's own docs say it is "the same data trusted by global leaders like Phantom, Raydium, Coinbase, and Bybit" (x402 docs). That is the company's claim, but it explains why Birdeye prices show up inside wallets and trading apps that never mention the name.
Birdeye token tracker and Find Gems screener
Every token page shows a live price chart, a trade tape, liquidity by pool, top holders and the most active traders. Find Gems is the screener. It filters tokens by market cap, liquidity, volume, holder count, mint and freeze authority status and social links, so a trader can cut thousands of pairs down to a short list that meets a set of risk rules. A trending list ranks tokens by price, volume and views.
Birdeye has since added a real-world assets view to Find Gems. The RWAs Dashboard ranks tokenized stocks, commodities and other assets and their issuers by trading volume, transaction count, value and asset class (birdeye.so). That follows the growth of tokenized equities on Solana, which Birdeye has tracked closely in its own research (see below).
Birdeye wallet tracker, smart money and top traders
Paste any wallet address and Birdeye shows its holdings, trade history and realised and unrealised profit and loss. The smart money views rank wallets with profitable early entries, and each token page lists its top traders, so you can see who bought, at what size and when.
The API side gained more here in September 2026. The wallet leaderboard endpoint can now rank wallets by realised PnL, volume or trade count, and a gainers and losers endpoint separates wallets that ranked through a few large trades from those with sustained volume (Birdeye Data on X). Treat these rankings with care: see the risk section.
Birdeye alerts and watchlists
Users can build watchlists of tokens and traders and set alerts on price moves, market trends and wallet activity. Pro users get expanded real-time alerts (Birdeye Pro). Alerts on a tracked wallet are the practical use: they tell you when a large holder starts selling, not only when a price level breaks.
Which chains does Birdeye support?
Birdeye's data docs list 17 networks as of October 2026: Solana, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Base, Robinhood Chain, Sui, Mantle, HyperEVM, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, Optimism, zkSync Era, Monad, Aptos, Fogo and MegaETH (supported networks). Recent additions include Robinhood Chain (July 2026) and Arc, the stablecoin-focused layer 1, which went live in Birdeye Data at its September 2026 mainnet with more than 50 REST APIs and 10 WebSocket subscriptions (docs changelog).
Solana is still the deepest coverage. Some features started on Solana and reached EVM chains later: wallet PnL APIs gained EVM support in April 2026, and several newer endpoints, such as liquidity OHLC by pool, are described as Solana-only in the docs.
Birdeye API: endpoints, API key and pricing
Birdeye Data is the developer product. Its docs describe it as a data platform covering "real-time prices, OHLCV, liquidity, and transaction flow to holder analytics, token and pair overviews, wallet portfolio and PnL, smart money, discovery, security, and blockchain-level utilities" (docs). The main groups are:
- Prices and OHLCV: current and historical prices, and candles by token, pair or base/quote.
- Trades and liquidity: tick-level trades, market lists per token, and pool liquidity history.
- Holders and security: top holders, holder distribution, and a token security endpoint for mint and freeze authority and other risk signals.
- Wallets and traders: portfolio, net worth, PnL and trader leaderboards.
- Perpetuals: a Perps Data API launched in May 2026 "starting with Hyperliquid support," with token open positions, liquidation maps and wallet positions. Trade fills and transfers for perps wallets were added in September 2026 (changelog).
- WebSocket streams: live prices, trades and token stats, now at intervals down to one minute.
To get a Birdeye API key, you create a free account at bds.birdeye.so and generate a key from the dashboard. The free Standard tier covers basic token price and token list endpoints. Paid plans, per the pricing page in October 2026, are:
| Plan | Price | Included compute units | Rate limit | WebSocket |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | $39/month | 2.5M | 15 rps | No |
| Starter | $99/month | 8M | 15 rps | Add-on |
| Premium | $199/month | 20M | 50 rps | 500 connections |
| Business | $499/month | 60M | 100 rps | 2,000 connections |
Growth Autoscale and Enterprise plans are priced on request, and longer billing terms carry discounts of up to 30%. Endpoints cost different numbers of compute units, so check the CU cost of the calls you need before picking a plan.
Birdeye MCP and x402 pay-per-request access
Birdeye has two options aimed at AI agents. The Birdeye MCP server connects Claude, Cursor and other Model Context Protocol clients to Birdeye Data with an API key; the docs mark it as beta (MCP docs). Since April 2026 the REST API also accepts x402 payments, so an agent can pay per call in USDC on Solana or Base without a subscription. The docs quote $0.003 per request, and WebSocket streams are not available this way (x402 docs).
Birdeye Pro pricing: is Birdeye free?
The web terminal is free to browse. Birdeye Pro costs $45 a month, $120 per quarter ($40/month) or $360 a year ($30/month) as of October 2026 (Birdeye Pro). Pro lifts the trending list from the top 10 to the top 100 tokens, opens all historical chart data (free users get the last 30 days), adds up to 100 CSV downloads a month, shows a token's active traders across all timeframes rather than the last 24 hours, and removes ads. Pro does not include API access; that is billed separately through Birdeye Data.
Birdeye also has a free Android app on Google Play, listed as "Birdeye – Crypto Data Tool".
Birdeye Solana reports and research
Birdeye publishes regular data reports on the Solana economy. Its H1 2026 Solana report covered Solana's DEX share, tokenized equity growth and perps volume. Its Q3 2026 report, released on 24 September 2026, found the number of wallets holding SOL up 20.5% in the quarter to 8.38 million and tokenized stock holders past one million (our coverage). Birdeye also posts shorter data threads on X, for example on tokenized stock trading at Raydium RAY$2.35-0.4% and Meteora MET$0.422+2.2%, and its figures are widely cited in Solana coverage, including ours.
Who Birdeye is for
- Active Solana DEX traders, especially memecoin and new-launch traders, who want holder lists, top traders and wallet PnL on the same page as the chart. The free tier covers most of this; Pro matters mainly for full chart history and CSV exports.
- Developers building wallets, bots, dashboards or trading terminals who need decoded DEX data rather than raw RPC. Birdeye fits when you need prices, candles, trades and wallet PnL across many tokens; it does not replace an RPC provider for sending transactions.
- Researchers and analysts who want quick holder and volume figures for Solana tokens, or the quarterly reports.
It suits casual holders less. Someone checking one token's price now and then gets the same answer from a wallet app, and the screener and smart-money views reward users who already know how to read on-chain activity.
Is Birdeye safe and legit? Risks and limitations
Birdeye is a data provider, not a DeFi protocol: it lists no on-chain programs in our records, and its core risk is the quality of the data and the decisions you make from it, not custody of your funds.
- Smart-money lists can be gamed. Wallet rankings are only as honest as the wallets in them. A widely shared 2024 thread on r/solana titled "Most profitable traders on Birdeye are all scammers" described scammers spreading funds across bot wallets to build fake profitable histories. A wallet that ranks high may be a deployer or insider, not a skilled trader to copy.
- Token listings are not endorsements. Birdeye shows any token that trades on a covered DEX, including rugs and honeypots. Mint and freeze authority filters help, but they do not catch every scam.
- Phishing and look-alike domains. In October 2024 Birdeye warned users about phishing emails sent in its name and said it only emails users for registration verification and reward notifications (Bitget News report). The ANY.RUN malware sandbox has flagged the look-alike domain birdeye.cx for malicious redirects. Use birdeye.so directly.
- Name confusion. Searches for "Birdeye reviews" or "Birdeye pricing" mostly return the unrelated Birdeye.com business software company. Its pricing and reviews have nothing to do with birdeye.so.
- API dependency. For builders, Birdeye is a centralised, paid dependency. Compute-unit pricing varies by endpoint, plans cap monthly usage, and newer tools such as the MCP server are still in beta.
Birdeye vs DexScreener, GMGN and other alternatives
- Solscan is a block explorer for Solana transactions and accounts. Use it to verify a transaction; use Birdeye to analyse a token's market. (Birdeye's founder previously worked at Solscan.)
- DexScreener is the closest rival for charts and new-pair discovery. It keeps its core features free and covers many chains; Birdeye goes further on Solana holder, trader and wallet PnL data, and puts some of it behind Pro.
- GMGN combines wallet tracking with a trading terminal for fast memecoin execution. Birdeye is mainly a data and research tool rather than a place to trade.
- Helius hSOL$131.05+0.8% is primarily RPC and developer infrastructure. Teams that need DEX market data (prices, candles, PnL) tend to use Birdeye Data; teams that need to read and write chain state use an RPC provider, and many use both.
Solana Compass's view is that Birdeye is the stronger pick when the question is who is trading a Solana token, and DexScreener is quicker when the question is simply what is moving.
Who founded Birdeye? Team and history
Birdeye was founded in 2021 by Kha Nguyen, previously head of product at Solscan, who discussed the project on the Solana podcast and serves as CEO. The operating company is Singapore-based Wings Lab Pte. Ltd. Birdeye has said it is funded but has not published round details.
Key steps:
- 2021: launches as a Solana token data aggregator.
- 2024: at Breakpoint 2024, Nguyen presented a faster interface, personalised dashboards and a mobile app (talk).
- 2026: adds x402 pay-per-request access (April), a Hyperliquid perps API (May), Robinhood Chain (July) and Arc (September) to Birdeye Data, and publishes H1 and Q3 Solana reports.
