ZetaChain holders are voting until Nov 7 on a plan to make ZETA a native Solana token on Dec 9. Governance Proposal 2 (on-chain proposal 70) went live on ZetaHub on 4 November 2026 with a 72-hour vote, ZetaChain announced on X. If it passes, ZetaChain's own layer-1 chain stops producing blocks and every ZETA balance converts 1:1 into an SPL token on Solana, the standard token format on the network.

This is the follow-through on the direction holders backed in September, when Proposal 68 passed with 99.4% support after ZetaChain first put the move to a vote. Proposal 68 settled whether ZetaChain would move. Proposal 2 sets the dates, the conversion mechanics and the holder protections, and nothing moves until it passes.

What ZetaChain Proposal 2 approves if the vote passes

A Yes vote approves a fixed shutdown date and a single snapshot. According to ZetaChain's announcement blog, the ZetaChain L1 would halt at block 20,755,000, "expected around Dec 9, 2026", and every balance would be recorded at that height. The ZetaChain Foundation would then mint the snapshot total on Solana as a native SPL token with 9 decimals, no freeze authority, and "no mint authority once the snapshot total is minted". A token with no mint authority cannot have new supply created by anyone.

ZetaChain set out the same terms in the thread's voting post, which links the proposal on ZetaHub and adds that "A No sends ZetaChain back with a revised proposal." The blog spells out the fallback: the direction approved in Proposal 68 stands, and "nothing moves on these terms." The full terms sit in a whitepaper published with the proposal.

How the ZETA claim to Solana works on Dec 9

ZetaChain's plan asks holders to do nothing before Dec 9 and one thing after it. From Dec 9, according to the blog's FAQ, a holder connects the wallet that held ZETA at hub.zetachain.com/migrate, signs a message naming a Solana wallet, and receives the full balance there. There is no fee, no SOL is needed to claim, and the minimum is 10 ZETA at the snapshot.

Most holders in special positions are covered automatically, per ZetaChain's FAQ:

  • Staked and unbonding ZETA is credited in full at the snapshot along with unclaimed rewards, so nobody needs to unstake. Staking rewards stop at the snapshot height.
  • ZETA held on an exchange converts without holder action, and each exchange announces its own conversion window to its users.
  • Wrapped ZETA and ZETA inside liquidity pools are the exception. ZetaChain says holders should unwrap and exit pools before the snapshot, because "ZETA inside contracts and pools cannot be claimed by a key."
  • Other assets bridged onto ZetaChain and still held as ZRC-20 tokens (ZetaChain's format for bridged coins) at the snapshot can be claimed back on their original chain at hub.zetachain.com/bridged-assets from Dec 9, with a minimum of $5 per token.

ZETA on Ethereum, the ERC-20 version, is untouched; the blog says the proposal "does not change" it. Claims are checked against the published snapshot rather than the live chain, so they keep working after the halt.

ZETA supply after the Solana move: a 55 million burn spread over 2027

ZetaChain says ZETA's supply will fall during 2027. The blog puts the cap at 2.1 billion ZETA "less the burned amount" and says about 55 million ZETA of validator emissions that were never paid out will be burned through 2027. That 55 million is the total for the year; the FAQ breaks it into "twelve monthly burns of about 4.6 million ZETA each." By our arithmetic, the total is about 2.6% of the 2.1 billion cap.

The reasoning, per ZetaChain, is that a retired chain has no validators to pay, and burning on the original monthly emission schedule leaves the published release schedule unchanged. The thread adds "No inflation on Solana": ZETA's staking emissions end with the chain. On the selling side, ZetaChain says purchaser and core contributor vesting completes on 1 January 2027 and that "no newly released ZETA is sold in 2027."

ZetaLabs, the private AI app ZETA will power on Solana

ZetaChain plans to launch ZetaLabs the same day. ZetaLabs is a private AI chat app for people who follow markets, built on Anuma Chat, ZetaChain's existing AI chat product. ZetaChain's blog lists four launch features: Chat, for plain-language questions about crypto, perps, prediction markets, stocks and commodities with live data; Radar, a live list of what is moving; Bloom, a private memory of a user's onchain activity; and a ZETA Dashboard showing supply, locked ZETA and every burn.

Privacy is the pitch. ZetaChain says chats, research and memory are encrypted by the user. Anyone can pay in ZETA, USDC or card. Holding ZETA adds a discount on AI usage, a vote on what the product supports, and, from Q1 2027, access to ZetaLabs Premium for users who lock ZETA, which ZetaChain says "stays yours."

ZetaChain's case for picking Solana is in the thread: Solana "already has the users, payment rails and agent infrastructure a private AI app needs." The move is a change of business as much as a change of chain. In ZetaChain's own words, it "was built to solve interoperability. First it connected blockchains. Now it connects AI." An app that charges in USDC and sells ZETA-locked subscriptions is easier to run where those stablecoin payments already settle than on a chain of its own.

Akash and ZetaChain: a second chain in a week votes on moving to Solana

ZetaChain's vote opened on 4 November 2026, two days after Akash Network holders passed Prop 346, which authorises a 1:1 SPL version of AKT and a one-way portal. The two plans differ on timing. Akash's marketplace cutover needs a separate later proposal, while ZetaChain's Proposal 2 sets a hard halt date and a single snapshot in one vote. If ZetaChain's proposal passes, the L1 is expected to produce its last block around Dec 9.

What to watch before Dec 9: the Hacken review and the official ZETA mint

The migration portal and the program behind it are under independent security review by Hacken, according to ZetaChain's blog, and the portal opens only after the review is complete and its report is published. Before Dec 9, ZetaChain says it will publish the security review report, the SPL mint address and the migration program address. The final post in the thread says the next posts, if the vote passes, will be the security review report and a portal walkthrough, and warns that anything below the thread claiming to be ZetaChain is spam.

Until that mint address appears on ZetaChain's own channels, no ZETA token on Solana is the official one. Solana Compass's token index already lists a token named "ZetaChain" with the ZETA ticker, created on 21 September 2026 with 6 decimals, where the official token will have 9. It is not the official mint, and we do not link it.

The items to check over the next five weeks are the Nov 7 result, the Hacken report, the published mint and program addresses, and each exchange's conversion window. Zeta Markets, a separate Solana project with a similar name, is not part of this migration.
