ZetaChain's ZETA token is moving to Solana SOL$89.47-1.2%. Holders passed Proposal 2, the vote on how the migration works, when voting closed on 7 November 2026. That locks in a halt of the ZetaChain L1 expected around 9 December and a 1:1 conversion of ZETA into a native Solana token, with no new ZETA minted after that.

This was the second and final governance step. ZetaChain holders approved the direction on 20 September, when Proposal 68 passed with 99.44% in favour, as the Proposal 70 text records. Proposal 2, numbered Proposal 70 on-chain, set the dates, the snapshot and the holder protections that we laid out when the vote opened. In its post-vote thread, ZetaChain said "Holders don't need to do anything until then."

ZetaChain Proposal 70 tally: 313.6 million ZETA yes, 420.5 ZETA no

ZetaChain Proposal 70 passed almost unopposed. The final tally in the chain's governance module shows about 313.63 million ZETA voting yes and 420.5 ZETA voting no, with no abstentions and no vetoes. The chain records the proposal as passed with a voting end time of 16:12:51 UTC on 7 November, and ZetaChain posted five minutes later that "ZETA holders have approved the plan."

The yes votes equal about 83% of the roughly 376.7 million ZETA bonded in the chain's staking pool when we checked after the close. That share is our own calculation, and the bonded total shifts as holders stake and unstake.

What happens to ZETA balances at block 20,755,000

The proposal sets the snapshot and the halt at block 20,755,000, "expected around Dec 9, 2026". At that block the chain records every address's liquid, delegated and unbonding ZETA, plus unclaimed staking rewards, and then stops. "No one needs to unstake," the proposal says, and staking rewards end at the same block.

On Solana, ZETA becomes a classic SPL token (Solana's standard token format) with 9 decimals and no freeze authority, according to the proposal. Once the token vault is funded and checked against the snapshot, the mint authority is revoked.

Claims open on 9 December at hub.zetachain.com/migrate, ZetaChain's migration announcement says, with "No fee, no SOL needed, and never a seed phrase." An address needs at least 10 ZETA at the snapshot to claim.

A few positions need action before the snapshot:

  • ZETA held in smart contracts, module accounts and pool contracts, including wrapped ZETA and liquid-staking pools, "cannot be claimed", per the proposal. Holders need to unwrap and exit those pools before block 20,755,000.
  • Bridged assets still held as ZRC-20 tokens on ZetaChain at the snapshot can be claimed back on their original chains at hub.zetachain.com/bridged-assets from 9 December, with a minimum of $5 per token, according to the ZetaChain announcement.

ZetaChain's post-vote thread also told holders to trust only its own zetachain.com addresses and to treat any reply claiming to be ZetaChain as spam. ZetaChain says ZETA is minted on Solana on 9 December, so no Solana token carrying the ZETA name before that date comes from the migration.

Coinbase converts ZETACHAIN to Ethereum-network ZETA from Dec 7 to 10

Coinbase customers holding the chain-native token get an automatic conversion, but to a different destination. Coinbase cbBTC$75,767.21-0.1%'s asset team said on 6 November that it "will support the migration of ZetaChain (ZETACHAIN) to ZetaChain (ZETA) on the Ethereum network from December 7-10, 2026." The notice does not mention Solana.

The conversion runs at about 1:1 with no transaction fees, according to Coinbase, and customers who want to opt out must withdraw ZETACHAIN to a self-custody wallet before 7 December. ZETACHAIN order books are already limit-only, and trading, sends and receives are disabled from 7 December. Coinbase says holders of ZETA on the Ethereum network are not affected and that it will keep supporting ZETA trading.

ZETA supply on Solana: a revoked mint authority and 2027 burns

With the mint authority revoked, no ZETA can be added on Solana once the snapshot total is minted. ZetaChain's announcement says "About 55 million ZETA of undistributed validator emissions" are burned through 2027, and the proposal spreads the burn as one twelfth each month from January to December 2027, on a fixed day. Purchaser and core contributor vesting completes on 1 January 2027, per the announcement.

The token also gets a product on day one. ZetaChain says ZetaLabs, a private AI app built on Anuma Chat with ZETA as its token, launches on 9 December alongside the migration. ZetaChain's stated reason for picking Solana is that the network "already has the users, payment rails and agent infrastructure a private AI app needs."

ZetaChain follows Akash in moving an app-chain token to Solana

ZetaChain is the second standalone chain in a week whose holders have voted to move their token onto Solana. Akash Network's holders passed Prop 346 on 2 November, approving a 1:1 move of AKT to a Solana SPL token with 97% support. In ZetaChain's case the chain stops at the snapshot block, so the move to Solana and the end of the L1 happen on the same day.

The next markers before 9 December are the official Solana mint address, which ZetaChain has not yet published, and Coinbase's 7 December cutoff for ZETACHAIN transfers. The halt is tied to block 20,755,000, so it lands whenever the chain reaches that height, which ZetaChain expects around 9 December.
