Western Union Taps Noah to Pay Remittances Into Stablecard as USDPT on Solana
Western Union picked Noah to power Receiver Redirect, which will pay money transfers into Stablecard as USDPT, its Solana stablecoin. No launch date yet.
Western Union has picked stablecoin infrastructure company Noah to run Receiver Redirect, a payout option that will deliver a Western Union money transfer to the recipient as USDPT, Western Union's dollar stablecoin on Solana, straight into a Stablecard wallet. Noah announced the partnership in a blog post on 20 October 2026, and Western Union's own post on X the same day said customers "in eligible markets will soon be able to receive Western Union money transfers directly into Stablecard in USDPT." Neither company has published a launch date, a list of markets, or fees.
How Western Union's Receiver Redirect will pay out in USDPT
Receiver Redirect changes the last leg of a remittance. According to Noah's blog, a sender will be able to pay at one of Western Union's more than 500,000 agent locations, and the money will arrive as USDPT in the recipient's wallet instead of as local cash at a counter. Noah says it will supply "the underlying on-chain banking network" for the service, which it describes as covering more than 60 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories. Western Union's own wording is narrower: "eligible markets", with no list yet.
For the person receiving the money, the change is that they will not have to convert it into local cash straight away. Stablecard, which Western Union launched with Rain in August and which we covered at launch, is a USDPT wallet paired with a Visa card. American Banker reported that it went live in 37 markets with a plan to reach more than 60 by year end, and that holders can spend by card or withdraw cash at Western Union locations. A family receiving money from abroad could hold it in dollars and spend it as needed.
Malcolm Clarke, Western Union's Global Head of Digital Assets, said in Noah's announcement that "customers increasingly want greater flexibility in how they receive, hold and use money," and called the capability "a global first, taking a Western Union money transfer and delivering it directly into the customers' stablecard wallet in USDPT stablecoin." The "global first" label is Western Union's claim.
USDPT on Solana: Anchorage Digital issues it, Western Union distributes it
USDPT is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., the federally chartered bank of Anchorage Digital. Western Union launched it on Solana on 4 May 2026, describing it as "an always-on settlement asset". In the same release, Solana Foundation President Lily Liu said Solana's "high-throughput, low-latency design enables assets like USDPT to move with the speed and reliability required for real-world financial settlement."
Since May the token has been building distribution one venue at a time. Mexican exchange Bitso listed USDPT in Mexico in October, and Western Union signed on to the Solana Foundation's enterprise developer platform in June. Receiver Redirect is different in kind. It would route Western Union's own customer transfers into the token, rather than adding another place to trade it.
USDPT is still a small token. Its Solana Compass token page showed a supply of about 19.5 million USDPT, a market value of roughly $19.5 million, across more than 350 holder accounts on 21 October 2026. Most of that supply sits with exchanges: according to our holder data, a Bybit bbSOL$122.43+1.3% exchange wallet held about 30% and a wallet labelled as a Kraken hot wallet about 16%, while the ten largest holders together held about 76%.
Who is Noah, the stablecoin firm behind Receiver Redirect
Noah describes itself as an "API-first platform that allows businesses to accept local fiat currencies, convert them into stablecoins and settle payments across borders in real time," according to Crypto Briefing, which reported on 7 October 2026 that the company had raised a $16 million extension, bringing its seed round to $38 million. Crypto Briefing named Endeit Capital, FJ Labs, LocalGlobe and Felix Capital among the investors. Shah Ramezani is chief executive and Thijn Lamers is co-founder and president.
Ramezani was blunt about the incumbents. "The international movement of money through traditional banks is slow, expensive and no longer fit for purpose," he said in the announcement, calling the Western Union deal "a watershed moment for the future of stablecoin." Noah's announcement cites World Bank figures of $905 billion in annual remittance flows and bank fees of around 6% of the amount sent.
Receiver Redirect launch date, markets and fees: what Western Union and Noah have not disclosed
Western Union and Noah have not disclosed the commercial details. There is no launch date beyond "soon", no list of countries or currency corridors, and no fees, exchange-rate terms or transfer limits. Noah's blog says recipients collect funds "into a Western Union wallet" while Western Union names Stablecard, and neither says whether a recipient without Stablecard can use the service. The blog states that USDPT is issued on Solana, but it does not say which network Noah's own side of each transfer settles on.
Those answers will decide how much of Western Union's remittance traffic reaches Solana. For now, a company serving more than 150 million customers, by Noah's count, has named its infrastructure provider and its payout token, and that token runs on Solana.
