NEAR Launches Confidential SOL Yield on Kamino via Gauntlet Vault as NEAR Token Lists on Solana Through Sunrise
NEAR launched confidential SOL yield on near.com via a Gauntlet-curated Kamino vault on Oct 15, the same day NEAR began trading on Solana through Sunrise.
On October 15, 2026, NEAR Protocol launched confidential SOL yield on near.com, its wallet and trading app. Users deposit SOL from a confidential account into a vault on Kamino Finance KMNO$0.039+5.4% curated by Gauntlet, and both NEAR and Kamino say the vault receives the deposit without ever seeing the depositor's wallet address. The same day, the NEAR token itself began trading on Solana through Sunrise, with NEAR Intents acting as the bridge.
NEAR's launch post pitched the product as a privacy upgrade for an activity that is normally fully public on-chain: "Your SOL can earn yield in a dozen places. All of them public, until now." Kamino's own announcement confirmed its side, describing a Gauntlet-curated Kamino vault that users reach "directly on near.com, without exposing their wallet address to the vault."
The near.com SOL vault page adds the product terms: no lockup, the balance can be swapped or spent while it earns, and users sign in with a wallet or a passkey.
near.com SOL vault terms: variable rate and stated risks
near.com showed an example rate of 5.12% APY on SOL at launch, and the same page states that "yield is variable and not guaranteed." The rate is lending yield. Gauntlet describes its Kamino vaults as supplying deposits across Kamino lending markets, with "real-time monitoring," "dynamic allocations" and "risk-off automation," so the return moves with demand to borrow SOL. That makes it a different product from the network rewards paid when you delegate SOL to a validator.
The risk text on near.com is plain: deposited SOL "is exposed to market and protocol risk," and deposits "route into third-party smart contracts." NEAR also says the vault is built on "the same confidential infrastructure that moved $1.29 billion in the last 30 days." That is NEAR's own, unaudited figure, and it covers confidential activity across near.com, not deposits into this vault.
How NEAR confidential accounts hide a SOL depositor's wallet
NEAR's confidential system routes activity through a private shard of the NEAR network running the NEAR Intents engine, according to Aurora's NEAR Intents documentation. The docs say any swap or transfer inside that shard "is not visible to the outside world," which hides the origin wallet and the link between where funds came from and where they went. The destination side stays public: the transaction, the asset, the amount and the recipient on the destination chain.
Applied to Kamino, that design implies the vault sees SOL arriving from an address other than the user's own wallet. Neither NEAR nor Kamino has said which address that is, who holds the vault position on the user's behalf, which Gauntlet vault receives the SOL, or what fees apply. The privacy comes from near.com's side of the flow. The Kamino vault itself is an ordinary on-chain lending vault.
Gauntlet and Kamino vaults reach users through outside apps
Gauntlet launched curated Kamino vaults for USDC and SOL on November 11, 2025, and said at the time that its curated vaults held over $2 billion in total. NEAR's launch is the latest case of a third-party app routing its users into Kamino vaults: Kamino said in September that over $100 million had been deposited into Kamino vaults through Binance Wallet, which we covered at the time.
Each integration brings Kamino deposits from users who never open the Kamino app. What near.com adds, as NEAR describes it, is SOL lending without the user's own wallet on the depositor list.
NEAR token goes live on Solana via Sunrise and NEAR Intents
Sunrise, a Solana listing gateway from the team behind Wormhole W$0.015-5.3%, announced on October 15 that it is partnering with NEAR Intents to "establish liquid markets for NEAR Intents assets on Solana," starting with NEAR. NEAR Intents said that it "serves as the canonical bridge" for those assets and that more will follow. Both teams say Sunrise plans to integrate NEAR Intents directly into its app next, a plan NEAR Protocol repeated in its listing post.
Sunrise launched in November 2025 with MON as its first asset and has kept adding outside tokens, including ASTER earlier this month.
At 20:24 UTC on October 15, about six hours after Sunrise's announcement, NEAR on Solana had 18,918 holders, about $13.0 million in 24-hour trading volume and about $615,000 in on-chain liquidity, according to Solana Compass token data. These are intraday, first-day snapshots.
Why Solana sits at the centre of NEAR's two launches
NEAR built the privacy layer and the app, but the yield it offers comes from Kamino's lending markets and Gauntlet's curation on Solana, and the venue it chose for its own token's new markets is Solana. Neither launch has more than a day of history. The open question is how much SOL near.com users route into the vault once the 5.12% launch rate starts to move.
