MoonPay Adds Kamino Finance to PayBox, Bringing Solana Lending and Yield to Claude and ChatGPT
MoonPay adds Kamino Finance to PayBox, letting eligible users lend, borrow, and earn yield on Solana by issuing natural-language commands in Claude or ChatGPT.
MoonPay has added Kamino Finance KMNO$0.027-2.0% to its PayBox payment vault, letting eligible users supply tokens for yield, borrow against crypto collateral, and manage Solana lending positions through a conversation with Claude or ChatGPT. The feature went live August 27.
Kamino holds around $1.3 billion in total value locked and $1 billion in active loans, per DeFiLlama, making it Solana's largest lending protocol by deposits. Adding it to PayBox extends MoonPay's July-launched payment vault from payments and token swaps into Solana-native collateralized credit.
Lending and Yield via Natural Language
The integration does not create a new loan product. It replaces Kamino's standard web interface with a text prompt handled by the AI assistant. A user could tell Claude to supply USDC (USDC) on Kamino for yield, or borrow USDC using SOL (SOL) as collateral; PayBox prepares the transaction and the user approves it before on-chain execution, Blockster reported.
Kamino's markets work through shared pools. Suppliers deposit assets; borrowers pay interest distributed back to suppliers, with rates adjusting to utilization.
Transaction Controls and Liquidation Risk
Users set how much authority the AI receives. PayBox offers an "Always Ask" mode that requires passkey confirmation before every transaction, and an "Autonomous" option that lets the AI execute within limits the user defines. Either setting can be revoked at any time.
The AI interface does not remove the underlying DeFi risk. If the value of deposited collateral falls far enough, a position can cross Kamino's liquidation threshold, and liquidators can repay the debt and claim a portion of the collateral. CoinDesk noted that AI tools remain prone to execution errors, which can carry costs when handling live positions.
Wallet keys are protected through threshold cryptography and secure enclaves. Neither the AI assistant nor MoonPay receives a complete private key, the company said.
The Kamino integration is unavailable in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, and Australia. Access may vary by asset within supported jurisdictions, per CoinDesk.
