Bitwise's Onchain Solutions validator closed August as the fifth-largest on the Solana SOL$99.18-2.8% network, crossing that rank after drawing 1.27 million SOL in net staking inflows during the month, the most the division has logged in any single month since it launched, according to data reported by CryptoBriefing on September 1.

The validator's total active stake reached approximately 9.455 million SOL by the end of August, up from roughly 8.3 million SOL in mid-July when it ranked sixth. That 14% increase in six weeks moved it into the top five, positioning a single ETF product as a systemically significant staking node on the network.

How BSOL's August Staking Inflows Drove the Validator Rank

Almost all the stake behind the validator flows from one source: Bitwise's BSOL ETF. The fund holds 9.33 million SOL and actively stakes roughly 96% of it through the Onchain Solutions validator. When investors buy BSOL shares on NYSE Arca, the fund purchases SOL on-market and delegates it to that same validator, converting every dollar of ETF inflow directly into the node's stake weight.

The sharpest single day came on August 27, when BSOL recorded $60.91 million in net inflows per the same CryptoBriefing report, its largest one-day figure since the fund launched in October 2025. BSOL crossed $1 billion in assets under management in late August, the first US Solana ETF to reach that figure. The fund currently offers a 5.8% net staking yield after fees, with rewards accruing to NAV daily rather than paying out as cash dividends.

SOL gained roughly 46% during August, per CryptoBriefing's reporting, amplifying dollar-denominated AUM growth while fresh SOL inflows added new stake volume on top of the price effect.

BSOL's 80% Share of US Spot Solana ETF Flows

The broader US spot Solana ETF category has now accumulated more than $1.3 billion in cumulative net inflows since launch. Bitwise accounts for roughly 80% of that total, a share that has held consistently since the category opened. The last week of August alone saw record weekly inflows of $153 million across all US Solana ETFs, with BSOL taking the majority.

The top-five result follows directly from BSOL's category dominance: one product capturing most of the ETF inflows and routing them all to a single node. The validator's rank reflects that structural concentration, with near-total delegation from a single fund, rather than independent delegators selecting it on its own merits.

Chorus One Acquisition Provided the Validator Infrastructure

Bitwise built the validator operation by acquiring Chorus One in February 2026. Chorus One had been operating across more than 30 proof-of-stake networks with over $2.2 billion in staked assets at the time of the acquisition, making it one of the largest independent institutional staking providers. The acquisition gave Bitwise operational validator infrastructure, allowing it to run enterprise-grade nodes directly rather than outsourcing delegation to a third-party operator.

The Ledger wallet validator network, previously branded "Ledger by Chorus One," was rebranded to "Ledger by Bitwise" in July 2026 as integration continued, extending Bitwise's staking footprint beyond the BSOL-specific validator to a broader set of delegator relationships.

ETF-Driven Validator Concentration: A New Pattern for Solana Staking

A single ETF product commanding roughly 9.5 million staked SOL inside the top five validators is a stake distribution pattern that did not exist before US spot staking ETFs launched. Traditional validator funding flows from many independent delegators who spread stake among multiple operators for yield, reliability, and decentralization reasons. The BSOL structure concentrates all of that delegation into one node controlled by one asset manager. That shift is arriving against a backdrop of shrinking validator participation: active validators on Solana have declined roughly 34% year-over-year, per CryptoBriefing, making a new top-five entrant driven entirely by ETF flows an unusual addition to an already-contracting set.

For investors the arrangement is efficient: consolidated yield, institutional-grade operations, no independent validator selection required. For the network, the effective staking weight of BSOL shareholders sits with a single entity's operational continuity. Weekly BSOL inflows had reached $20 million for the week ending August 21 (double the prior week's pace), and the August total of 1.27 million SOL confirms that acceleration held through month-end, reshaping the composition of Solana's top-tier validators.
