UpRock Mining App
UpRock Mining App enables device owners to contribute bandwidth and computing resources to a decentralized network, earning UPT tokens as rewards. The system operates in the background without disrupting device performance.
UPROCK
UpRock is a mobile-first decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) on Solana that converts smartphone users into paid network nodes, collecting real-world web data at global scale to fuel AI intelligence products and APIs.
What It Does
UpRock operates on two sides of a data marketplace. On the supply side, smartphone users install the UpRock app, which runs a background browser proxy that contributes their internet connection to the network. On the demand side, businesses and AI developers subscribe to data APIs that draw on that distributed bandwidth to gather geo-specific, real-time intelligence — everything from regional sentiment analysis on trending topics to site-specific discussion monitoring that would otherwise require expensive commercial feeds from Twitter, Reddit, or Weibo.
The pitch for everyday users is simple: share unused bandwidth, earn $UPT tokens passively. No crypto knowledge is required — the app auto-generates a Solana wallet on first run.
How the Network Works
UpRock's infrastructure is built across three layers.
The Edge Layer is the decentralized peer network itself — real devices distributed across the globe, each providing local IP addresses and authentic browsing fingerprints. Unlike datacenter proxies or third-party scrapers, the network uses genuine mobile and home connections, which means collected data reflects real geographic access conditions.
The Knowledge Acquisition Layer (KAL) sits on top of the edge peers. It orchestrates web crawling jobs, routes requests intelligently through the peer mesh, performs initial data cleaning (removing ads, preparing pages in reader mode), runs ML-based image captioning, and applies LLM agents — currently running on GPT-3.5-Turbo, Bard, and Bing — to extract sentiment, correlations, and viewpoint summaries from raw content. The architecture uses ReAct and MRKL frameworks for agent reasoning. Processed feeds are stored in a Vitess-based distributed database, with object storage handling raw KAL output.
The AI Insight Exchange (AIX) Dashboard is the consumer-facing product: a query interface that delivers processed intelligence to subscribers without requiring them to interact with raw data.
Earning Rewards
Miner rewards are determined by a transparent formula:
Reward Rate = (Upload Speed x Download Speed x Connection Type x Freedom Score) x Total Mining Time
Upload and download speed factors reflect the quality of the contributed connection. The connection type factor assigns different weights to home broadband, 4G, and 5G connections. The Freedom Score applies a country-level multiplier sourced from Freedom House's internet freedom index — higher freedom scores produce higher rewards, which the team argues correlates with higher-value data for buyers needing uncensored access.
During the project's beta phase, $UPT earnings accumulate but are locked pending the full token launch.
API Products
UpRock sells three classes of data subscriptions to business customers:
Topic-Specific APIs allow subscribers to track keywords or tags across the web, with regional sentiment scores and "topic velocity scores" that measure virality. These are positioned as lower-cost alternatives to brand monitoring and social listening tools.
Site-Specific APIs follow conversations on particular platforms, offering a drop-in replacement for expensive first-party APIs from social networks.
Archival Service provides historical page reconstruction — recreating a URL at a specific past timestamp including embedded media — useful for research, compliance, and AI training data pipelines.
Revenue from these subscriptions and pay-per-use fees funds an on-chain $UPT buyback mechanism, creating a demand-side token sink and reward liquidity for contributors.
Token: $UPT
$UPT is the native utility and reward token on Solana. Key parameters as of mid-2026:
- Contract: UPTx1d24aBWuRgwxVnFmX4gNraj3QGFzL3QqBgxtWQG
- Max supply: 1,000,000,000 UPT
- Circulating supply: approximately 161.4 million UPT (16.1% of max)
- Holders: approximately 131,000
- Market cap: approximately $795,000
The token launched in May 2024 and reached an all-time high of $0.3566 on June 1, 2024. It has traded significantly lower since then as broader market conditions and post-launch selling pressure affected price. The project's stated tokenomic mechanism — using subscription revenue to buy back tokens on-chain — is intended to create long-term price support tied to actual network utilization.
Network Scale and Activity
UpRock's mainnet launched in January 2025. Since then, the network has grown to more than 4,200 nodes spanning over 60 countries, with daily active node counts more than doubling in the months following launch.
The project remains actively developed as of 2026. Recent initiatives include the "Swarm Cup," a World Cup-themed competitive event offering a prize pool exceeding 1,000,000 UPT distributed across 48 national node swarms over six weeks, as a mechanism to drive node uptime and geographic expansion. The team also launched an UpRock MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, allowing users to extend large language models — including ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini — with live web search, video understanding, and real-time intelligence capabilities drawn from the UpRock data network.
A separate consumer product called "Rocket" is in development: a single AI personal assistant that aggregates multiple underlying agent capabilities, positioning UpRock as both an infrastructure layer and a consumer AI product company.
Target Markets
UpRock cites the Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) market at $7.7 billion, the Business Intelligence market at over $25 billion, and the data API market at over $45 billion as its serviceable opportunity. Demand-side customers are primarily blockchain data teams, AI training operations, and market intelligence firms that need real-world, geo-distributed web access rather than datacenter-routed requests.
Solana Ecosystem Fit
UpRock is a native Solana project in both infrastructure and design. Wallet creation is handled automatically via Solana keypairs, reward distributions settle on-chain, and the $UPT buyback mechanism uses Solana's low transaction costs to make frequent on-chain operations economically viable. The project sits within Solana's growing DePIN vertical alongside other bandwidth and resource-sharing networks, contributing to the thesis that consumer mobile devices can form a credible infrastructure layer for AI and data applications.
