UPROCK

TLDR: UpRock is a Solana-based DePIN that lets anyone monetize idle internet bandwidth. The resulting network of real consumer devices powers AI data collection infrastructure and a proactive AI assistant called Rocket. Contributors earn UPT tokens through a speed- and geography-weighted formula; the protocol self-funds buybacks from SaaS and pay-per-use subscription revenue generated by its AI products.

What UpRock Does

UpRock connects two markets that rarely meet: everyday smartphone owners with spare bandwidth, and AI companies that need diverse, real-world web data at scale. Rather than routing requests through server-based proxies—which are easily fingerprinted and blocked—UpRock routes them through real consumer devices running its app. The geographic and network diversity that results is something scraper farms and data-center proxies cannot credibly replicate.

The platform is designed around a closed loop: contributor bandwidth powers the network, the network powers AI features, and revenue from those AI features flows back to contributors through the token economy.

Three-Layer Architecture

The protocol's technical stack has three tiers.

The edge layer is the contributor network—Android, iOS, and desktop devices running the UpRock app. Each device acts as a browser-based relay, executing actual browser sessions rather than simple HTTP proxies. Because requests appear to originate from real consumer connections, they naturally bypass the anti-scraping and geo-restriction defences that frustrate server-based crawlers.

The Knowledge Acquisition Layer (KAL) is the middleware. When a data request enters the network, the KAL orchestrates which edge nodes handle it, runs the browser sessions, strips advertisements, applies ML-based image captioning, performs sentiment analysis, compresses the output, and passes it through LLM extraction. The result is structured, synthesized data rather than raw HTML—usable directly by AI pipelines without additional cleaning.

The AI Insight Exchange (AIX) dashboard is the customer-facing product layer. Businesses and AI developers access the network through a conversational interface, posing natural-language queries and receiving synthesized insights drawn from the distributed crawl across top industry news sources covering North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Rocket AI: The Proactive Agent

Since mid-2025, UpRock has shifted significant emphasis toward a consumer AI agent called Rocket, built directly on the UpRock network so that contributors and consumers share the same infrastructure. The team describes Rocket as a proactive agent rather than a prompt-response chatbot.

Instead of waiting for user commands, Rocket runs persistent background tasks: tracking topics, monitoring prices, following calendar events, and surfacing results only when something actionable appears. The stated rationale is that users will only trust AI agents with high-stakes decisions—finances, family logistics, critical research—after those agents prove themselves on small, repeated tasks first. Rocket is designed to earn that trust incrementally through recurring loops.

A specific capability shipped in 2026 is Video Semantic Search (VSS): users query video archives by natural language rather than by title metadata. Ask Rocket to find every goal from last night's match, locate what a coach said about a loss, or surface every mention of a player across multiple press conferences—and it searches the actual video content rather than title cards. UpRock positions VSS across verticals including sports, news, and long-form research.

The "Rocket Around the World" community series tasks the agent with exploring cities—London was the active stop in August 2026—simultaneously demonstrating platform capabilities and driving user-generated content across the network.

UPT Token and Reward Mechanics

UPT is UpRock's native Solana token. Total supply is capped at one billion, with 50% allocated to the contributor community as mining rewards.

Contributor earnings follow a weighted formula: reward rate equals upload speed factor multiplied by download speed factor, connection type factor, and freedom score factor, then multiplied by total mining time. Home broadband connections earn higher weights than mobile data connections, which rank above 4G. The Freedom Score Factor introduces a geographic dimension: the platform applies Freedom House internet-freedom country ratings to assign higher weights to connections originating in nations with broader, less-censored web access, on the theory that data routed through more-open networks better represents the unconstrained internet that AI training data should reflect.

Revenue from SaaS subscriptions and pay-per-use API access feeds a token buyback mechanism. The distribution formula varies by revenue source: bandwidth sales route 20% to buybacks, 40% to treasury, and 40% directly to network contributors; platform fees paid in UPT split evenly between burns and treasury redistribution; fees paid in USDC or SOL go 50% to buybacks and 50% to the company wallet.

Solana wallets generate automatically on account creation, with an option to link any preferred wallet. KYC verification is planned as a Sybil mitigation measure.

Network Scale and Status

UpRock's mainnet launched in early 2025. The network operates across more than 60 countries, with millions of registered devices and thousands of active daily nodes globally. As of August 2026, the project runs weekly community calls—call number 155 was held on August 20, 2026—and actively ships product features, indicating sustained development activity.

Privacy Model

The UpRock proxy operates as a standalone browser process that does not intercept the device's regular browsing activity. The app collects only the bandwidth shared during active sessions; it does not log personal browsing history, and the participant's IP address is not exposed to data buyers. Requests are distributed across multiple nodes so no single contributor sees a complete transaction.

Competitive Position

UpRock occupies the intersection of two growing categories: DePIN bandwidth marketplaces and consumer AI assistants. Its differentiation is the direct connection between the two. Contributors are not merely selling bandwidth into an abstract market—they are powering the specific AI products that UpRock sells to businesses and consumers. Token buybacks funded by AI subscription demand create a link between product traction and token economics that pure bandwidth-resale models lack.
