Background

Reusable Digital Identity and the Solana Integration

The Solana-specific implementation, publicly demonstrated at the Solana Accelerate conference in New York in May 2025, integrates with the Solana Attestation Service (SAS) — an open, permissionless protocol for issuing verifiable credentials on-chain. The flow works as follows:

- They link their verified identity to a self-hosted Solana wallet.

- Participating dApps read the attestation to confirm identity status without the user re-submitting any documents.
Personal data never touches the chain. The attestation functions as a verified signal — confirming that the wallet holder has passed identity checks with a trusted provider — while keeping underlying documents private. Future iterations are expected to incorporate zero-knowledge proofs for additional privacy guarantees.
The live demonstration at Solana Accelerate featured Roam, a virtual SIM provider, where a user who had already completed Sumsub KYC linked their wallet and instantly onboarded to Roam without a second verification step. Sumsub Chief Growth Officer Ilya Brovin described the integration as "a key first stepping stone in evolving reusable digital identity" for Web3 users.

Cross-Chain Expansion
In May 2026, Sumsub announced a partnership with Chainlink to extend privacy-preserving identity credentials to Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Polygon, and Base through Chainlink's Automated Compliance Engine (ACE) and Cross-Chain Identity (CCID) framework.
