SecuX Technology is a Taiwanese hardware wallet company that builds cold storage devices with large color touchscreens, Bluetooth connectivity, and a CC EAL5+ certified secure element — making it one of the few hardware wallet makers to combine enterprise-grade key isolation with a user interface that goes beyond the typical two-button controls of most competitors.

Company Background

SecuX was incorporated in 2018 and launched its first products at CES Las Vegas in January 2019. The company is headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and was co-founded by three technologists with backgrounds in semiconductor IP and digital imaging. Dr. Charles Hsu, one of the founders, is also Chairman of eMemory Technology, a global leader in embedded non-volatile memory and Physically Unclonable Function (PUF) chip technology — expertise that directly informed SecuX's hardware security architecture. Co-founders Dr. Peter Chen and Dr. Gregory Chu previously built AIPTEK, a digital imaging firm that listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. By 2025, SecuX had reached its seventh anniversary, serving users across retail and enterprise segments.

Product Line

SecuX produces four primary hardware wallet models:

W10 is the entry-level device, offering the same secure element and display as the rest of the lineup but without Bluetooth or an internal battery, requiring a wired connection for every session.

W20 is the mid-range option priced at $99. It adds Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless transaction signing, a 2.8-inch full-color touchscreen, and a Micro-USB port. Its large display distinguishes it from most competitors in the same price tier, and it supports hidden wallet functionality via BIP39 passphrase.

V20 is the flagship model. It replaces the W20's plastic housing with aluminum, upgrades the port to USB-C, and retains Bluetooth 5 and a large touchscreen.

Nifty and Nifty-X are purpose-built NFT hardware wallets with a 2.8-inch color display that renders NFT artwork directly on the device. SecuX markets the Nifty as the first cold wallet to visually display Solana NFTs on the device itself, allowing users to confirm the artwork, collection name, and token details on the screen before approving any transaction — reducing the risk of blind signing unknown assets.

Security Architecture

All SecuX devices store private keys inside an Infineon SLE 97 secure element chip certified at CC EAL5+. This certification is evaluated against tampering, side-channel attacks, and fault injection under Common Criteria standards. Private keys are generated and remain inside the chip; signed transactions leave the device, but raw key material does not.

Transaction verification happens on the device's touchscreen rather than on a connected computer or phone, which is the critical point of protection. A PIN entry screen uses a dynamically shuffled numeric keypad, ensuring physical button positions vary each session. After five incorrect PIN attempts, the device resets. Seed backup uses a standard BIP39 24-word mnemonic.

One architectural tradeoff is that SecuX devices are not fully air-gapped: most models rely on USB or Bluetooth for transaction signing. Bluetooth serves only as a transport channel for signed data; private keys are not transmitted wirelessly.

Solana Support

SecuX extended its support to the Solana ecosystem in a product update that added native SOL balance management, SPL token sending and receiving, and on-device transaction approval for Solana network operations. Users manage Solana assets through the SecuX Wallet mobile app on iOS and Android, or through the SecuXess web interface.

In July 2025, SecuX released an app update that added Solana Token 2022 support, enabling users to securely store, send, and receive assets built on the Token 2022 standard — Solana's extended token program that underpins newer DeFi and payment use cases.

The Nifty hardware wallet adds a deeper Solana integration through WalletConnect, allowing direct connection to Solana DApps from the cold wallet. Supported protocols include Magic Eden and Tensor for NFT trading, Jupiter for aggregated token swaps, Orca and Raydium for liquidity provision, and Marinade and MarginFi for liquid staking and lending. Users can stake, swap, and interact with DeFi protocols while keeping private keys offline and verifying transaction details on the device screen before signing.

The Nifty also introduced on-device Solana NFT display, which SecuX claims makes it the first cold Solana wallet to render NFT artwork directly on the hardware.

Asset Coverage

Across all models, SecuX supports over 10,000 coins and tokens spanning more than 300 blockchains. This includes Bitcoin, Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens, BNB Chain, Polygon, Solana and SPL tokens, and many EVM-compatible networks. Firmware updates are delivered over-the-air for supported models.

Distribution and Availability

SecuX devices are sold through the company's own website, major retail platforms including Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, and through authorized resellers in multiple countries. SecuX also operates a business-focused division offering merchant terminals and enterprise custody solutions alongside its consumer wallet lineup.

Fit Within the Solana Ecosystem

SecuX occupies a specific niche in the Solana hardware wallet landscape: it is one of the few options providing a large color touchscreen for on-device transaction review combined with NFT display capabilities and DApp connectivity through WalletConnect. For Solana NFT collectors and users who want to interact with DeFi protocols without exposing private keys to hot wallets, the Nifty provides a relatively direct path — at the cost of accepting Bluetooth or USB connectivity rather than true air-gap isolation.
