On-chain activity
Pipe CDN
Pipe CDN provides decentralized content delivery through a global network of hyperlocal Points of Presence nodes. The system positions nodes within close proximity to end users to reduce latency below 50 milliseconds, implements zero-knowledge enhanced TCP and QUIC protocols for verifiable data transfers, and coordinates node activity through Solana smart contracts with reputation-based performance measurement.

What Is Pipe Network?
Pipe Network is a decentralized content delivery network (dCDN) built on Solana that incentivizes node operators to cache and deliver web content at the edge of the internet. Where traditional CDNs like Cloudflare, Fastly, or Akamai centralize infrastructure ownership in a handful of large corporate data centers, Pipe Network distributes this function across thousands of independently owned cache nodes around the world. Publishers pay to use the network in PIPE tokens; node operators earn PIPE tokens for serving content reliably from their geographic location.
The Problem With Traditional CDNs
Static assets — images, JavaScript bundles, video files, font files — must be geographically close to end users to load quickly. CDNs solve this by caching copies at Points of Presence (PoPs) distributed around the globe. However, traditional CDN infrastructure is expensive to run and controlled by a small number of large vendors. Web3 projects frequently have traffic patterns (sudden spikes during token launches or NFT mints) that standard CDN pricing handles poorly, and there is no native crypto-payment integration.
Pipe Network addresses both issues: the infrastructure is crowd-sourced from anyone running a compatible cache node, and payments are settled natively in PIPE on Solana.
Core Mechanism
Pipe Network works through three roles:
Publishers point their content origins (e.g., an IPFS gateway, an S3 bucket, or a web server) at their Pipe Network CDN endpoint. They deposit PIPE tokens into an escrow smart contract on Solana to fund delivery.
Cache Nodes run the Pipe Network daemon on commodity hardware — servers, desktop computers, or dedicated edge boxes. The daemon pulls cacheable content from the origin on demand, stores it locally, and serves subsequent requests from that location. Node operators register on-chain and receive PIPE rewards proportional to verified content delivery.
Solana Smart Contracts handle node registration, operator staking, payment escrow, and reward distribution. The on-chain settlement layer ensures that payments and reputation scores are transparent and tamper-resistant.
Key Features
Permissionless node entry. Anyone can run a cache node and start earning PIPE without approval. Hardware requirements are modest: a modern CPU, SSD storage, and a stable internet connection.
Geographic distribution. Because node operators join from any location, the network organically builds PoPs wherever operators live — including markets underserved by traditional CDNs.
Native crypto payments. Publishers pay in PIPE tokens; no credit card, no corporate account required. This makes the service accessible to Solana projects and DAOs.
Content-addressed caching. The protocol uses content hashing to ensure cached copies match the origin, preventing cache poisoning.
PIPE Token
PIPE is the native utility token of Pipe Network. It is used for:
- Publisher payments for content delivery
- Node operator rewards
- Staking (node operators stake PIPE to participate and receive a share of fees)
- Governance (planned)
PIPE is deployed as an SPL token on Solana. Node operators accumulate PIPE rewards proportional to bandwidth served, verified on-chain.
Solana Ecosystem Fit
Pipe Network is a direct complement to Solana's web3 application ecosystem. DeFi frontends, NFT marketplaces, and gaming applications built on Solana require fast, reliable delivery of static assets. By building settlement directly on Solana, Pipe Network integrates natively with the same wallets and token infrastructure that Solana dApp users already use. High-throughput, low-fee Solana transactions make micropayment-per-delivery settlement economically feasible in a way that would be impractical on higher-fee chains.
Status
Pipe Network was in testnet phase as of mid-2025, with mainnet launch planned. Node operator sign-ups and publisher onboarding were open ahead of the mainnet launch.
