Huma V2 Protocol
Huma V2 is a yield platform on Solana enabling users to earn returns from real-world payment financing activities through liquidity provision. Users deposit USDC to receive liquid PST tokens representing their share, choosing between Classic mode for stable yield or Maxi mode for reward multipliers. The platform generates returns through transaction fees paid by businesses accessing payment settlement liquidity.
Huma Institutional
Huma Institutional is a permissioned protocol providing institutional investors with access to curated payment financing opportunities through compliance-verified liquidity pools. Licensed financial institutions participate in funding cross-border settlements, card payments, and marketplace seller advances. The system enforces smart contract-based risk management with comprehensive AML screening and investor qualification requirements.

Breakpoint 2024: Product Keynote: Huma (Erbil Karaman)
Huma Finance is set to revolutionize the world of payment financing with the launch of Pay-Fi on Solana. ... Erbil Karaman, co-founder of Huma Finance, introduced Pay-Fi, the first payment financing network built on blockchain technology.
Huma Finance
Huma Finance is the first PayFi network — a protocol that channels on-chain liquidity into the real-world payment infrastructure that underpins cross-border settlements, trade receivables, card payments, and payroll financing. Where traditional DeFi lends against volatile crypto collateral, Huma lends against verifiable payment flows, enabling businesses to access working capital in minutes rather than waiting days or months for funds to settle.
The PayFi Concept
PayFi (Payment Finance) is Huma's framing for a category of DeFi that finances expected income rather than speculative assets. A supplier waiting 60–90 days for a trade receivable, a marketplace seller whose payouts are batched weekly, or a payments processor needing bridge liquidity between settlement windows — all represent predictable cash flows that can be underwritten on-chain. Huma provides credit against those flows, disbursing and repaying in stablecoins with settlement finalized on-chain rather than through correspondent banking networks. The premise is that stablecoins and programmable settlement can replace fragmented legacy infrastructure — SWIFT, ACH, card rails — with real-time, borderless money movement.
How the Protocol Works
Huma pools capital from liquidity providers and deploys it through credit facilities to vetted payment businesses (borrowers). Borrowers submit receivables or payment flows as collateral; Huma advances a percentage of their value (advance rates below 100%) and is repaid as those receivables settle. The protocol structures pools around specific payment asset types — cross-border settlements, trade finance, DePIN financing — so capital is matched to the appropriate risk profile.
Pool mechanics come in two broad forms. Revolving credit lines allow borrowers to draw down and repay repeatedly within an approved limit. Receivable-backed credit lines advance funds specifically against tokenized invoices or settlement obligations. Lenders in senior tranches receive fixed yields with first-loss protection; junior tranche participants accept higher risk for higher returns. Redemptions process epoch-by-epoch to preserve pool solvency.
Products
Huma 2.0 (Permissionless) launched on Solana in April 2025, removing the KYC/KYB and accredited-investor requirements of the earlier institutional version. Liquidity providers deposit USDC or USDT and receive one of two token types:
- PST (PayFi Strategy Token) — Classic Mode. Minted 1:1 with deposited stablecoins. Earns approximately 8–9% base APY in USDC plus Huma Feather rewards redeemable for HUMA tokens. Lockup options of 0, 3, or 6 months apply reward multipliers of 1x to 5x.
- mPST (Maxi PST) — Maxi Mode. Forgoes the base stablecoin yield in exchange for maximum Feather accumulation for users who prioritize HUMA token allocation.
PST tokens are tradeable on Solana DEXs — Jupiter, Meteora, Kamino, and RateX are integrated — allowing holders to exit positions without waiting for redemption epochs. Huma 2.0 also includes a referral program that distributes 10% of referred Feathers to the referring wallet.
Huma Institutional (Permissioned) targets licensed financial institutions and large capital allocators. It offers structured finance with tranches, tokenized real-world assets, and transparent on-chain receivable lifecycle management. Much of the institutional volume runs through Arf Finance.
Huma Prime, introduced in January 2026, is a looping vault that uses Defensive Looping technology to build leveraged exposure to Huma Classic yields. It includes automated leverage and deleverage, primary-market redemptions, and isolated reserve mechanisms to limit liquidation risk.
Arf Integration
In April 2024, Huma merged with Arf, a regulated cross-border payments liquidity provider. The two brands continue operating independently under a unified holding company. Arf processes correspondent-banking-style settlement flows through Huma's credit infrastructure, providing the real-world payment volume that underlies much of the protocol's transaction throughput.
Solana Deployment
Huma launched on Solana in November 2024, deploying the permissioned institutional product first and following with the permissionless Huma 2.0 in April 2025. Solana's sub-$0.001 transaction costs and approximately 400-millisecond finality are operationally important for payment use cases that require high-frequency, low-latency settlement — characteristics unavailable at comparable cost on EVM chains. The protocol's Solana program address is HumaXepHnjaRCpjYTokxY4UtaJcmx41prQ8cxGmFC5fn. Huma also maintains institutional pools on EVM chains (Polygon, Celo, Scroll) and Stellar.
Within two weeks of the Huma 2.0 Solana launch, total transaction volume surpassed $4 billion and active wallet addresses grew more than 490%, from approximately 5,600 to 33,000. The protocol reached over $7 billion in cumulative on-chain transactions as of late 2025, with annualized revenue of $17 million in August 2025 — a 16x year-over-year increase. Huma has reported zero credit defaults since inception.
HUMA Token
The $HUMA token launched in August 2025 via the Huma Foundation. It serves as the protocol's governance and incentive token. Historical Feather-to-HUMA conversion ratios varied by season: Season 0 at 8.3, Season 1 at 23.5, and Season 2 at 30. Staking rewards and additional protocol incentive mechanisms were introduced alongside the token launch.
Team and Background
Huma Finance was co-founded in 2022 by Richard Liu and Erbil Karaman, alongside Ji Peng, Lei Du, and Michael Liu. Richard Liu previously served as Engineering Director at Google, where he launched Google Fi, and held the CTO role at EarnIn. He also founded Leap.ai, acquired by Facebook. Erbil Karaman led product and growth at Lyft, EarnIn, and Meta. The team's background in consumer finance and payments infrastructure is directly relevant to Huma's focus on real-world credit flows. Huma won the DeFi track at ETHDenver 2022.
In September 2024, Huma raised a $38 million Series A composed of $10 million equity and $28 million deployed directly into real-world assets on the platform. Investors include Distributed Global (lead), HashKey Capital, Folius Ventures, Stellar Development Foundation, Galaxy Digital, Circle, and Solana Foundation.
Security and Audits
Smart contracts across Huma's deployments have been audited by Halborn (Huma 2.0, March 2025), Sec3 (Solana contracts), Spearbit (EVM), and Certora (Stellar). Halborn's audit specifically verified that funds are correctly managed and accessible only by liquidity providers and the pool's authorized strategy manager. Administrative functions use multisig controls to prevent unilateral access to user funds. Huma also conducts penetration testing and maintains endpoint protection protocols.
Ecosystem Position
Huma's strategic backers — Solana Foundation, Circle, and Galaxy Digital — reflect both the institutional and blockchain infrastructure dimensions of the project. On Solana, Huma integrates with Jupiter (DEX aggregation), Kamino (lending), Meteora (liquidity), and RateX (rates). Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) was selected in April 2026 to power cross-chain yield functionality for PST holders. Huma also joined the Circle Payments Network as a service provider in October 2025, positioning itself to extend credit capabilities directly into stablecoin payment flows.
The protocol's core thesis — that the world's $22 trillion annual payments volume represents an underserved credit market that on-chain infrastructure can serve more efficiently than legacy finance — remains the organizing principle behind each product decision and partnership.
