About

FoxWallet

FoxWallet is a decentralized, non-custodial multi-chain cryptocurrency wallet serving as a unified Web3 gateway for over 100 blockchain networks including Solana, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Aptos, Sui, Filecoin, Aleo, IronFish, Tron, TON, Cosmos, and Spacemesh.

What It Is

Developed by BlockHill Tech Limited and launched in 2021, FoxWallet positions itself as a single application for users managing assets across disparate blockchain ecosystems. Rather than specializing in a single chain, it takes a breadth-first approach: one wallet interface, one seed phrase, and one DApp browser spanning every supported network. The application is available on iOS, Android, and as a Chrome browser extension.

The core philosophy is self-custody. Private keys and mnemonic phrases are encrypted and stored locally on the device. They are never uploaded to centralized servers, meaning FoxWallet cannot access or freeze user funds. This architecture embodies the non-custodial model: users bear full responsibility for safeguarding their credentials, and the wallet functions as software tooling rather than a custodian.

Core Mechanism

FoxWallet stores keys using multi-layer device-level encryption. When a user creates or imports a wallet, the resulting private key material is encrypted on the device and never transmitted externally. Users who lose their device or seed phrase have no recovery mechanism through FoxWallet servers, which the company communicates actively to its user base.

The wallet derives accounts across supported chains from a single seed phrase where the underlying derivation standards allow it, and supports importing existing wallets from other providers. For each supported chain, FoxWallet connects to that network's RPC endpoints to broadcast transactions and query balances.

Key Features

Multi-chain asset management is the wallet's primary value proposition. Users can view balances, send and receive tokens, and manage NFTs across 100+ chains from a single interface. The token list is maintained in a public GitHub repository, allowing community contributions for new token listings.

A built-in DApp browser lets users connect to Web3 applications directly within the wallet on mobile, covering DeFi protocols, NFT marketplaces, and staking interfaces across supported chains. On desktop, the Chrome extension injects a Web3 provider into browser tabs, enabling interaction with DApps in the same way as competing wallets.

Cross-chain swap aggregation allows users to exchange assets across different chains through aggregated liquidity sources. FoxWallet routes swap transactions through third-party protocols without requiring users to bridge funds manually through separate interfaces.

NFT and BRC20 support includes display and management of NFTs across Ethereum-compatible chains and Bitcoin's BRC20 token standard.

Approval management gives users a view of active token approvals granted to smart contracts, enabling revocation of unnecessary permissions — a security-hygiene feature increasingly common in wallet interfaces.

Address book and bookmarking functionality provide basic organizational tools for users managing many counterparty addresses.

Solana Support

FoxWallet supports Solana as one of its major Layer 1 networks. On Solana, the wallet handles SOL and SPL token storage and transfers. Users can connect to Solana DApps through the built-in browser on mobile or the Chrome extension on desktop.

FoxWallet positions its Solana offering as suited for users who want self-custody Solana access inside a multi-chain wallet, rather than competing directly with Solana-native wallets like Phantom or Solflare. Cross-chain swaps involving SOL are available through aggregated routing. The wallet does not claim direct in-app native SOL staking as a confirmed built-in feature; users who want to stake SOL can access staking DApps through the browser interface.

Security

FoxWallet's security architecture centers on local key storage with no server-side key handling. Active protections built into the application include automatic phishing site detection that flags known fraudulent Web3 domains in real time; high-risk signature warnings surfaced before users sign transactions involving unusual contract interactions; and malicious authorization checks that inspect token approval requests and warn users before granting broad spending permissions to unknown contracts.

The project maintains a public security-audit-certification repository on GitHub housing third-party audit documentation. A separate blacklist repository tracks malicious addresses and domains, feeding into the application's real-time detection systems. Open-source components of the wallet are available for public review, supporting independent verification of security claims.

Team and History

FoxWallet was founded in 2021 by BlockHill Tech Limited. The project has grown to report over one million users globally. The wallet achieved particular traction in several niche blockchain communities and is described as the most popular wallet on Filecoin, IronFish, and Spacemesh networks, with recognition from the Filecoin Foundation as a key ecosystem project.

The wallet maintains active development with regular version releases. As of early 2025 the application was on version 5.5.x, with updates addressing new network integrations, staking features including Aleo staking added in September 2024, and security improvements. FoxWallet publishes utility libraries on GitHub including a React Native crypto utilities library combining Rust and Go functions, a fork of the snarkVM zero-knowledge execution environment for Aleo support, and a Web3 provider library for mobile based on Trust Wallet's open-source provider.

Positioning

FoxWallet targets users who need to operate across many blockchain ecosystems from a single interface. Its strongest fit is with users active in ecosystems like Filecoin, Aleo, IronFish, or Spacemesh — networks where dedicated wallet options are limited — who also hold assets on major chains including Solana, Ethereum, and Bitcoin. For users whose activity is primarily on Solana, Solana-native wallets offer deeper feature integration; FoxWallet's Solana support serves users who want Solana as part of a broader multi-chain portfolio under a single self-custody solution.
