Deks

Deks combines a non-custodial wallet with gifting and trading. Create customizable gift cards, load them with crypto (including Solana tokens) or stocks, and share via email, SMS, link, or a physical card. Recipients claim in seconds, then hold, trade, or move funds using the app’s wallet and dashboard features.

Deks

Deks is a Solana-based consumer app that wraps any SPL token or tokenized stock into a customizable gift card — delivered by email, SMS, or physical print — that recipients can claim in a single tap without any prior crypto knowledge.

What Deks Does

The premise is straightforward: crypto is hard to give to someone who does not already have a wallet. Deks solves that by hiding the wallet-creation step. A sender loads any Solana token into a card, personalizes it with a message and image, and chooses a delivery method. On the recipient side, a Privy-powered embedded wallet is created automatically on claim — no seed phrase ceremony, no exchange account, no setup friction. The card holds actual on-chain assets, not a voucher redeemable for fiat.

From there, recipients have two paths: keep the crypto as a portfolio holding, or spend it immediately at real-world retailers via the Deks Debit Card, which settles purchases at more than 4,000 stores worldwide.

Core Features

Gift cards for any Solana token. Deks supports the full range of SPL tokens, meaning community projects can issue branded gift cards in their own token. Magic Eden's Spanish-language community, for instance, ran a partnership distributing custom $ME-denominated cards at events and giveaways. Other ecosystem projects including Strategic Super Reserve, NovaAI, and MIDA DAO have used the platform for community distributions at conferences including Token2049 and Solana Breakpoint.

Tokenized stocks. Beyond crypto assets, Deks has supported tokenized equity products through integrations with on-chain stock platforms. Users have sent Netflix, and other stock tokens as gift cards — extending the use case from crypto-native audiences to anyone familiar with equity investing.

Delivery options. Cards can be sent digitally via email or SMS, or generated as printable physical cards. Physical distribution has become a visible community tactic: Deks cards were handed out at events like Solana Breakpoint and MonkeDAO's Barcelona anniversary celebration.

Non-custodial wallet. The underlying wallet infrastructure uses Privy embedded wallets, meaning Deks does not hold user funds. Recipients who claim a card receive a self-custodial wallet from which they control their assets outright. This keeps the custody model clean even for first-time users.

Debit card spending. The Deks Debit Card allows users to spend their crypto balance at over 4,000 merchants globally. The card draws directly from the user's self-custodial wallet rather than requiring a pre-loaded custodial balance, which differentiates it from top-up card products.

Cashback rewards. Purchases through the platform earn SOL and SKR (Solana Mobile's Seeker token) cashback. SKR integration ties Deks into the Solana Mobile hardware ecosystem: the app is available natively on the Seeker device in addition to iOS and Android.

Token swap. Users can instantly swap between supported Solana tokens inside the app, rounding out the product into a lightweight spending wallet with gifting as its primary entry point.

Mechanism in Brief

When a sender creates a gift:

  1. They select a token and amount, add a custom message and card design.
  2. Deks generates a unique claim link tied to an on-chain escrow or smart wallet holding the assets.
  3. The link is delivered by email, SMS, or printed on card stock.
  4. On claim, Privy provisions a new non-custodial wallet for the recipient and the assets transfer in.

The recipient needs only an email address or phone number to receive crypto — no exchange account, no existing wallet address required.

Team and Backing

Deks was founded in March 2025 and is incorporated as DEKSxyz, Inc. in New York. The team includes Simón Gómez, Kevin Webster, and Lautaro Navarro. The company is a portfolio member of Alliance DAO, an accelerator focused on B2B, Solana, and Ethereum projects.

The project placed fifth in the Consumer Track at the Colosseum Breakout Hackathon — Solana's flagship developer competition — competing against more than 1,500 final submissions. The hackathon showing gave Deks early visibility within the Solana builder community and preceded a period of active ecosystem partnership activity.

Solana Ecosystem Fit

Deks occupies the consumer onboarding layer of the Solana stack, a segment the ecosystem has historically struggled to fill. Most Solana consumer apps assume users already hold SOL and a wallet; Deks assumes neither. By making gift receipt the first crypto interaction, it converts the awkward "how do I set this up?" conversation into a single tap.

The platform's integration with Solana Mobile's Seeker device and SKR cashback positions it within the broader hardware-software consumer push Solana Mobile is making. Seeker targets mainstream smartphone buyers who are not yet crypto users, and Deks provides exactly the kind of friction-free entry experience that makes onboarding credible for that audience.

Partnership density with Solana-native communities — NFT DAOs, token communities, conference organizers — also suggests the platform has found a repeatable distribution motion: projects sponsor branded gift cards as a marketing and community-building tool, which in turn generates first-time wallet holders for the Solana ecosystem.

Audits and Security

No public security audit was found at time of writing. The non-custodial design via Privy embedded wallets limits the custodial risk profile compared with platforms that hold user funds on a centralized backend. Users holding meaningful balances should note that Privy embedded wallets are a social recovery model — access recovery depends on the linked email or phone, not solely a seed phrase.

Status

Deks is active as of mid-2025, with live apps on iOS, Android, and Solana Seeker, ongoing ecosystem partnerships, and a visible presence at Solana community events. The platform is backed by Alliance DAO and shows consistent product iteration since its March 2025 launch.
