Chakra Labs entered the Solana ecosystem with an ambitious premise: turn the open web into a community-owned, AI-ready database by building the first verifiable data warehouse on decentralized infrastructure.
What Chakra Set Out to Build
At its core, Chakra Labs positioned itself as the "read layer for the internet." Rather than relying on centralized web crawlers controlled by large corporations, Chakra proposed distributing that work across thousands of ordinary users via a lightweight browser extension. The resulting data would be structured, verified, and made available through an open marketplace that any AI developer, researcher, or data practitioner could query.
The tagline — "The First Verifiable Data Warehouse" — captured the dual claim: not just decentralizing data collection, but attaching on-chain provenance so consumers could verify where data originated and whether it had been tampered with. The Scout Extension: Crowdsourced Data Collection
The primary onboarding mechanism for Chakra's network is the Scout browser extension, available through the Chrome Web Store. Once installed, Scout runs passively in the background during normal browsing and captures publicly accessible web data — from platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, and GitHub — without intercepting private content or credentials.
The privacy model is explicit: Scout collects only data that is already public, allows users to configure which sites it monitors, and stores no personally identifiable information. Users earn points for their contributions, and those points are expected to translate into token allocations when Chakra's Solana-based token launches. Early participants — the project reports approximately 5,000 Scout users — accumulate points that feed a visible leaderboard, introducing competitive incentives into an otherwise passive contribution model.
This DePIN-style architecture lets Chakra scale data collection without the capital expenditure of a conventional crawler infrastructure, while giving contributors a financial stake in the value they generate.
The Verifiable Data Warehouse
Beyond collection, Chakra built the warehouse layer itself. The product, which entered public preview on January 30, 2025, is built on DuckDB — a high-performance analytical engine that runs in-process and makes Chakra significantly cheaper to operate than legacy cloud warehouses like Snowflake or Databricks.
The warehouse supports:
- Data transformation: ingesting raw structured and semi-structured datasets and reshaping them for downstream use
- Data monetization: an open marketplace where data contributors can package and sell datasets, and where buyers can access curated structured information with verified provenance

- Model Context Protocol (MCP) support: connecting Chakra's data directly into AI chat interfaces such as Claude Desktop and ChatGPT via local MCP servers, allowing LLMs to inspect and retrieve from the warehouse during inference
The combination of cheap storage (DuckDB on commodity hardware) and cryptographic verification (provenance anchored on Solana) is what distinguishes Chakra's offering from a conventional hosted analytics product.
Chakra Drive: Decentralized File Storage on Solana
A separate product, Chakra Drive, extends the infrastructure layer into encrypted file storage. Built on the Solana blockchain and powered by Irys Network for permanent storage and Lit Protocol for encryption, Chakra Drive offers:

Solana Ecosystem Fit
Chakra Labs was selected as part of Solana Incubator Cohort 2, placing it among projects that received structured support and mentorship from Solana Labs. The choice of Solana as the settlement and verification layer reflects the network's strengths for this use case: high throughput, sub-cent transaction fees, and fast finality make anchoring data provenance records economically viable at the scale of millions of web data events.
The project's investors include Castle Island Ventures, Collab+Currency, Hash3, and Race Capital, in addition to the Solana Incubator. Chakra raised a $10.1 million Series B in December 2025, providing a funding runway that outlasted many early-stage DePIN projects from the same period.
Audits and Security
Chakra states that its data collection undergoes holistic security audits and that the Scout extension is designed to avoid capturing private data. However, no specific audit firm names or published audit reports have been identified in publicly available sources. The privacy architecture — public-only data capture, user-configurable site lists, anonymized contribution records — is described at a policy level rather than with detailed cryptographic proofs.
Pivot to AI Agent Infrastructure
By mid-2025, Chakra Labs had begun shifting its public identity. The Series B funding secured in late 2025 suggests the broader company is operationally active even as its Solana-specific product surface has narrowed.
