Block Logic

Block Logic is a Solana infrastructure company headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. Founded in 2020, the team engaged with Solana in late 2019 and has been a continuously operating validator since the network's mainnet genesis. Over the years, Block Logic has expanded beyond running a single validator to building community tooling, co-developing critical RPC infrastructure, and organizing one of the ecosystem's flagship validator events.

Validator and Staking Operations

Block Logic operates a Solana validator under the vote account 9GJmEHGom9eWo4np4L5vC6b6ri1Df2xN8KFoWixvD1Bs. The validator runs with MEV and Triton support and carries a 2% commission on staking rewards, with approximately 2.5 million SOL delegated.

Staking with Block Logic is non-custodial: delegators hold their SOL in their own wallets at all times and simply assign voting rights to the validator. Rewards accumulate automatically each epoch and delegators can withdraw at any time subject to the standard Solana cooldown period.

The validator runs on redundant bare-metal servers across two data centers in Frankfurt, Germany and New York, USA, providing geographic failover. Remote access to the servers is secured by hardware keys rather than password-based authentication, and the team targets a failover window of under ten minutes during any single-site outage. Support and monitoring run around the clock from teams in Boulder and Calcutta.

Validators.app

One of Block Logic's most visible contributions to the ecosystem is Validators.app, a free community analytics platform for the Solana validator set. The platform provides:

• A comprehensive validator directory with performance metrics, commission history, and data center breakdowns
• A watchlist feature that sends email alerts when a monitored validator changes its commission rate
• A "Ping Thing" tool that measures real-world transaction latency across validators, helping delegators evaluate confirmation speed alongside yield metrics
• Stake pool listings that show how automated delegation strategies spread stake across many validators for improved decentralization
• An authority change tracker and API documentation for developers integrating validator data into their own products

Validators.app is designed to improve transparency in the delegation market and notes that all data should be independently verified before making delegation decisions.

RPC Infrastructure

Block Logic partnered with Stake Economy to build Solana's first global bare-metal RPC server pool. Rather than routing RPC traffic through cloud-provider virtual machines, this initiative deployed dedicated physical hardware across multiple regions to reduce latency and increase throughput. The collaboration established an early model for geographic distribution of Solana's RPC layer that influenced broader efforts to professionalize the network's read-path infrastructure.

Open Source Tooling

Block Logic publishes its tooling on GitHub under github.com/Block-Logic. Key repositories include:

The majority of Block Logic's open source work targets developers who need data about the validator set or want to build monitoring tooling around it.

Block Zero Validator Summit

Brian Long, Block Logic's CEO, co-organizes Block Zero, an annual in-person summit for Solana validators. The event focuses on base-layer network health, validator economics, decentralization, and community coordination. The inaugural edition was held in Amsterdam in 2023. By 2024, co-located with Solana Breakpoint in Singapore, Block Zero had grown to more than 500 participants from around the world, with sessions covering validator economics, regulation, and network governance. The summit has become a dedicated forum outside of Breakpoint where independent validators can engage directly with core developers and other infrastructure operators.

Team

Block Logic is led by Brian Long (CEO and Co-Founder) and Jennifer Long (Co-Founder). The technical team includes software developers Tyler, Maciek, and Klaudia, alongside Linus as Administrator and DevOps lead.

Ecosystem Position

Block Logic occupies a distinct position in the Solana validator ecosystem: it operates a production validator while building public goods that benefit the broader staking community. Validators.app, the Ping Thing, and the open source Ruby tooling each reduce friction for delegators, independent validators, and developers who would otherwise lack accessible on-chain performance data. The Block Zero summit fills a complementary role at the community layer, creating a dedicated annual venue where validator operators discuss technical and economic issues specific to running infrastructure.

Block Logic has operated continuously since Solana's mainnet launch, making it one of the longer-tenured independent validators in the ecosystem.
