Basis Markets
Delta-neutral trading automation across centralized exchanges.
On-chain activity
Basis Trade eXecutor (BTX)
Basis Trade eXecutor (BTX) is a platform that provides next-level automation, delta-neutral yield, and real-time insights for basis trading
Basis Trade Engine (BTE)
Basis Trade Engine (BTE) is a web3 application that streams data from crypto exchanges to identify delta-neutral trade opportunities in real-time.
Basis Markets
Basis Markets is a DAO-governed trading automation platform on Solana designed to help users capture yield from delta-neutral strategies—trades that earn returns from funding rate differentials across centralized exchanges without taking directional price exposure.
What It Does
Delta-neutral basis trading involves simultaneously holding a spot position and an equal short position in perpetual futures for the same asset. When perpetuals trade at a premium to spot—meaning the funding rate is positive—the short position earns funding payments while the spot leg remains flat, generating yield regardless of which direction prices move. Basis Markets provides the tooling to identify, execute, and manage these trades across multiple exchanges from a single interface.
Products
Basis Trade eXecutor (BTX)
The BTX is the primary user-facing product. It connects to a user's centralized exchange accounts via secure API keys, scans for available basis trade opportunities across Binance, Bitget, Bybit, KuCoin, and WOO X, and provides one-click execution with automated position management.
The platform displays historical APR data across 7-day, 30-day, and 90-day windows to help users evaluate opportunity quality, and offers batch position controls for managing multiple trades simultaneously. Users can filter opportunities by exchange, asset pair, and risk parameters.
The BTX launched in closed beta for BASIS NFT holders in Q1 2023. Multi-exchange capabilities—adding support beyond the initial exchange set—were released in Q2 2024. In June 2025, the platform removed the NFT gating and opened public access: any user with a Solana wallet, BASIS tokens for fees, USDC as collateral, and CEX API keys can use the BTX.
Basis Trade Engine (BTE) / BTE 2.0
The BTE is an analytics dashboard that scans more than 12 exchanges in real time to surface delta-neutral trade opportunities and flag market inefficiencies with positive expected-value returns. Users can filter by exchange, asset, or risk profile and visualize projected returns through interactive charts.
As of the most recent documentation update, the original BTE is under maintenance and is being relaunched as BTE 2.0 with a rebuilt infrastructure designed for faster exchange integration, expanded market coverage, and an improved user interface.
Token and Governance
Basis Markets operates as a DAO with a two-tier membership structure.
BASIS NFTs: A fixed supply of 5,000 NFTs grants core membership benefits: DAO voting rights, access to the BTE, a discounted trading fee rate on the BTX, and entry to a private Discord community. The supply is permanently capped and no additional NFTs will be created.
BASIS Token: The protocol's utility and governance token has a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000 on Solana (contract address: Basis9oJw9j8cw53oMV7iqsgo6ihi9ALw4QR31rcjUJa). BASIS is required to use the BTX—paid as trading fees—and can be staked to earn a proportional share of protocol revenue.
The fee structure allocates a 24% performance fee from the platform's liquidity pool operations, distributed as: 16% to BASIS token stakers, 6% to NFT holders, and 2% for token buybacks to support liquidity.
The Decentralized Basis Liquidity Pool (DBLP) channels pooled capital into basis strategies using signals from the BTE, with returns distributed to staked BASIS holders. Minimum deposit into the DBLP starts at $1.
Fundraising and Controversy
Basis Markets raised substantial capital at launch: approximately $7.5 million through a November 2021 NFT presale (32,000 SOL) and a further $20.725 million USDC via a token IDO in December 2021, totaling roughly $28 million.
A detailed 2023 investigation by Crypto Sleuth Investigations, based on on-chain transaction analysis, alleged that approximately 79.5% of raised capital—around $22.6 million—was transferred to personal wallets controlled by founding team members within hours or days of each fundraising event, rather than retained in a project treasury. The investigation traced funds through FTX to six pseudonymous founders, with individual amounts ranging from approximately $2.5 million to $12 million each (operating under handles including TraderSkew, Andreas, TedTalksMacro, CryptoBoole, DeltaOneDennis, and Comguito).
Additional allegations included: early sales of tokens that had been publicly represented as locked for 12 to 24 months; coordinated trading activity around a HotBit exchange listing in April 2022; and the unilateral cancellation of a promised hedge fund product in June 2022—two weeks before its scheduled launch—without a DAO vote, citing regulatory concerns.
The BASIS token reached its all-time high of approximately $0.231 in December 2021, shortly after the IDO, and has since declined by roughly 99.97% from that peak. The project received a CertiK security review score of 2.6 out of 10.
Current Status
As of mid-2026, Basis Markets' public infrastructure shows significant signs of neglect. The main website (basis.markets) returns a 404 error and the blog subdomain (blog.basis.markets) presents an expired SSL certificate. Technical documentation at docs.basis.markets remains accessible. The most recent confirmed product activity was in June 2025, when the BTX was expanded to all users without an NFT requirement, and the platform described a rebuilt BTE 2.0 infrastructure with new exchange integrations. The BASIS token continues to trade on secondary markets.
Context in the Solana Ecosystem
Basis Markets occupies a specific niche within Solana-adjacent DeFi focused on cross-exchange yield extraction rather than on-chain liquidity provision. Rather than deploying capital into Solana-native AMMs or lending protocols, the platform connects users to centralized exchange markets where funding rate opportunities occur. Its integration with Solana is primarily through wallet authentication, the BASIS token contract, and the DAO's on-chain governance infrastructure.
The strategy Basis Markets is built around—capturing CEX funding rate yield while remaining market-neutral—has attracted broader interest across Solana DeFi as the ecosystem's derivatives infrastructure has matured and institutional participants have explored structured basis trades at scale.
