Solana Hits ESPN Broadcast TV for the First Time on July 2 as WSOP Presenting Sponsor
ESPN confirmed 100+ hours of WSOP 2026 coverage starting July 2, with prime time finals August 3-5 on ESPN, marking Solana's broadcast TV debut as presenting sponsor.
Solana SOL$68.74-0.7% (SOL) will appear on ESPN broadcast television for the first time starting July 2, when ESPN begins airing the 2026 World Series of Poker, a tournament the Solana Foundation is presenting sponsor of. On June 24, ESPN's press room published the full broadcast schedule, confirming over 100 hours of multiplatform coverage and a three-night live prime time finale on August 3-5. The Solana official account confirmed the milestone the same day: "Shuffle up and deal with Solana on broadcast TV for the first time, starting in July and prime time live in August."
The Broadcast Schedule: July 2 Through August 5
ESPN's coverage of the WSOP Main Event (the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em World Championship) spans six weeks. Streaming coverage on ESPN+ begins July 2 (8 p.m. to 2 a.m. ET) and continues through July 13, carrying live action from the earliest starting flights. Edited linear episodes air on ESPN2 on July 21 and July 28, then again on August 10.
The Main Event Final Table gets three live nights in prime time: ESPN2 on August 3 (9 p.m. to midnight ET), ESPN on August 4 (9 p.m. to midnight ET), and ESPN on August 5 (10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. ET). That final-table run is where Solana's brand will reach the broadest audience, with the WSOP Main Event finale historically drawing millions of US viewers.
Beyond domestic reach, the deal distributes via ESPN's global network to over 400 million homes worldwide, including TSN in Canada, Disney+ in select markets, Groupe M6 in France, Abema Japan, and Eurosport across Europe.
WSOP's First Return to ESPN Since 2021
The WSOP last aired on ESPN in 2021. The multi-year agreement announced in March 2026 marks the event's return to its longtime broadcast home. For Solana, the timing is significant: the presenting sponsorship was already in place when the ESPN deal was sealed, meaning the blockchain's brand will be woven into what WSOP CEO Ty Stewart called a return to "a new generation of viewers."
The Solana Foundation's presenting sponsorship, first reported by Solana Compass on June 10, covers the 2026 WSOP in Las Vegas and extends to WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas in December, where stablecoin payouts on Solana are planned for tournament winners.
On-Chain Integration: Zero-Fee Buy-Ins via MoonPay
The sponsorship carries on-chain substance. MoonPay processes tournament buy-ins through Solana's network, enabling players to purchase tournament seats with SOL, USDC, and USDT at zero processing fees, a first for WSOP. Solana's throughput (thousands of transactions per second at fees below $0.001) is what makes the fee-free model viable at tournament scale.
WSOP CEO Ty Stewart, quoted in the WSOP press release, framed the fit directly: "Solana's speed and efficiency mirror the fast-paced energy of our tournaments." Vibhu Norby, Solana's Chief Product Officer, made the parallel from the other direction: "Trading shares many of the same characteristics as poker: hard decisions, incomplete information."
What 100+ Hours of ESPN Coverage Means for Solana's Brand
Sponsorship of digital-native events and crypto-aligned properties is common for Layer 1 blockchains. Broadcast television at prime time scale is different: the WSOP Main Event finale brings in an audience that does not follow crypto news and may encounter the Solana name for the first time across three consecutive nights of ESPN programming.
The scale also inverts the usual exposure dynamic. Most crypto sponsorships reach existing holders and adjacent demographics. A multi-week ESPN run with a live prime time finale reaches the broad American sports audience, the demographic that drives mainstream retail awareness and has historically been hardest to reach through on-chain or crypto-media channels.
The December extension to WSOP Paradise adds a second wave: stablecoin payouts on Solana mean winners at that event will interact with the network directly, not just see the logo in a broadcast lower-third.
