Crypto Trader rasmr Wins Inaugural WSOP Solana Showdown as Season Closes With $23M in Payments
Crypto trader rasmr won the WSOP Solana Showdown for $50,000 and a custom bracelet. Solana's first season at the WSOP closed with $23M in crypto payments.
Crypto trader rasmr won the inaugural WSOP: Solana Showdown on August 4, taking a $50,000 top prize and a custom Solana SOL$75.47+0.4%-branded bracelet after outlasting eight other crypto personalities in a nine-player invitation-only tournament at Paris Las Vegas.
The official @solana account confirmed the win to 294,000 views on X: "WSOP: Solana Showdown has its first champion. @rasmr_eth takes the bracelet."
Showdown Field, Format, and Final Table
The invitational brought together nine known figures from the crypto world: MinhxDynasty, Gabriel Haines, Ansem, Bangerz, CryptoWendyO, Banks, King Solomon, AshleyDCan, and rasmr. All received a pre-tournament coaching session from Jamie Gold, who won the 2006 WSOP Main Event and serves as a Solana ambassador, covering strategy, table reads, and tournament psychology before the first hand.
The format was a turbo sit-and-go: 100,000 chip starting stacks, 15-minute blind levels. rasmr, described by PokerNews as a live streamer and capital markets trader with limited prior tournament experience, said he felt close to elimination midway before recovering to beat MinhxDynasty heads-up for the title.
| Place | Player | Prize |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | rasmr | $50,000 |
| 2nd | MinhxDynasty | $25,000 |
| 3rd | Gabriel Haines | $10,000 |
| 4thβ9th | Ansem, Bangerz, CryptoWendyO, Banks, King Solomon, AshleyDCan | $2,500 each |
The $100,000 prize pool was distributed across all nine places, per PokerNews. rasmr also receives an invitation to December's WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas, where the Solana Foundation plans to offer stablecoin prize settlements for the first time. The tournament was streamed live on Solana's X and YouTube channels.
Gold described the partnership's practical appeal in a PokerNews interview before the event:
$23 Million in WSOP Payments at Season Close
The same evening, the official @solana account announced the full season total: Solana processed $23,000,000 in payments at the 2026 World Series of Poker. Vibhu Norby, Chief Product Officer of the Solana Foundation, was interviewed by PokerNews on the same evening, discussing the details of the year-one Solana Γ WSOP integration.
As we first reported in July, the running total had reached $22.9 million at that point, representing 6,176 tournament entries settled in crypto at 5.3% of total WSOP dollar volume for the season. The August 4 announcement closes the books at $23 million.
MoonPay handled the payment infrastructure through the WSOP LIVE app. Players entered any WSOP tournament by scanning a QR code and paying in SOL, USDC, or USDT; zero fees, no currency conversion, cleared in seconds.
ESPN Broadcast and Stablecoin Payouts Planned for December WSOP Paradise
Solana has served as presenting sponsor throughout ESPN's 2026 WSOP coverage, with the Main Event final table airing in prime time from August 3β5. The ESPN deal announced in June put Solana's brand on broadcast TV for the first time across 100+ hours of coverage reaching 300+ million homes via ESPN's networks. The $23 million payment total is what that partnership produced at the table level in year one.
The extension the Solana Foundation has signaled is prize payouts. When WSOP Paradise opens in December, winners are scheduled to receive settlements directly in stablecoins on Solana, extending the integration from payments in to payments out. For international players, settling in stablecoins bypasses the bank-transfer complexity that currently affects prize delivery for non-US winners. That would complete a full crypto-native payments loop inside the world's largest professional poker series.
Ty Stewart, World Series of Poker CEO, described the rationale for the partnership on the official Solana announcement page: "Solana's speed and efficiency mirror the fast-paced energy of our tournaments." The $23 million first-year figure gives that framing a number to stand behind.
