Bullish Exchange became the first GFSC-regulated venue to host live tokenized equity trades, with BLSH ordinary shares settling against a USD stablecoin on Solana.

On August 12, 2026, Bullish announced that several institutional market participants had executed the first live trades of its tokenized ordinary shares on Bullish Exchange, settling against a USD stablecoin. The trades mark the first time tokenized equity has cleared on a Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC)-regulated digital asset exchange.

Bullish is NYSE-listed under the ticker BLSH. Its shares exist on Solana as tokens, contract address 6d5zakCaxjjRALNRyudC6ArivxeBGT3XUAci7ybWQY8U, with trading and settlement running directly on the Bullish Exchange order book, per the August 12 press release.

How BLSH Tokens Carry Direct Legal Share Ownership

The legal distinction is the headline. These tokens are issuer-sponsored and recorded at the share registry level by Equiniti (EQ), the SEC-registered transfer agent that administers BLSH's cap table. Token holders carry direct legal ownership of Bullish ordinary shares, with the same standing as any conventional shareholder, rather than a derivative position or a third-party offshore SPV approximation.

Equiniti maintains the official record of ownership "whether shares are held in book-entry form or token form," according to the Bullish blog post announcing the May 2026 tokenization. Shareholders can move between tokenized and book-entry forms through EQ's Shareholder Central portal.

Wallet-level restrictions enforce that legal structure: bilateral transfers are limited to EQ-whitelisted addresses only, with non-whitelisted addresses rejected at the smart-contract level. Trading on public AMMs or decentralized exchanges is not enabled. As of August 14, 2026, Solana Compass data shows four on-chain wallets holding BLSH tokens, consistent with the token's restricted issuance to institutional launch participants.

GFSC License, Solana, and Equiniti's Registry

The foundation for August 12's trades was assembled in stages. Bullish became the first NYSE-listed company to fully tokenize its own equity cap table in May 2026, when BLSH ordinary shares went on-chain on Solana at Consensus Miami. Trading required a separate regulatory step: in June 2026, Bullish received GFSC approval to offer tokenized securities trading on its Gibraltar-licensed, institutionally focused venue.

Solana was chosen for sub-second finality, low transaction fees, and its established position in on-chain equity activity. Solana-based tokenized equity logged $10 billion in trading volume in June 2026 alone, capturing 95% of global on-chain equity trading, and tokenized assets surpassed memecoins in Solana spot volume earlier this summer.

Trading on Bullish Exchange runs 24/7, with near-instant settlement in place of the T+1 batch cycle of conventional equity markets. August 12's trades demonstrated 24/7 execution in a GFSC-regulated venue for the first time.

Institutional Participants at Launch

Wintermute, one of the world's largest algorithmic trading firms, is providing liquidity at launch. Additional institutional participants at the August 12 open include Qube Research & Technologies, Annamite Capital, Fasanara Digital, and Star Beta Technologies, according to the press release.

That roster frames the trading as institutional from the outset. Bullish Exchange positions itself as an institutionally focused venue, and BLSH tokenized shares trade within that perimeter rather than on public DEXs.

The Equiniti Acquisition and What Bullish Is Building

Equiniti's role here extends beyond a service arrangement. Bullish has a pending $4.2 billion agreement to acquire Equiniti, the global transfer agent and registry firm that serves as the system of record for nearly 3,000 issuer clients and supports more than 20 million shareholders worldwide, with closing targeted for January 2027, per the press release.

The stated rationale is vertical integration: a regulated exchange, tokenization technology, and a transfer agent in a single stack. Once Equiniti is inside the corporate structure, Bullish says the same infrastructure can extend to a broader range of securities.

"Bullish is assembling the full complement of services required to tokenize equities: the regulated exchange, the tokenization technology, and the transfer agent. We're starting with our own stock," said Tom Farley, CEO of Bullish. The ambition is a regulated venue spanning the full lifecycle of a tokenized security: issuance, registry, and trading, built around a GFSC-licensed exchange and an SEC-registered transfer agent. Whether other issuers will follow BLSH onto the Bullish infrastructure, and on what timeline, has not been disclosed.
