About

Transfero

Transfero is a Brazilian fintech infrastructure company that bridges traditional banking systems and blockchain networks through a unified API layer. Founded in 2015 by Guilherme Murtinho and Claudio Just and headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, the company has grown into Latin America's largest fiat ramp provider, spanning 168 payout markets globally. The platform operates under a Swiss corporate structure and adheres to The Bahamas' Digital Assets and Registered Exchanges Act (DARE Act), giving it a regulatory foundation suited to cross-border digital asset services.

What Transfero Does

Transfero positions itself as financial infrastructure-as-a-service, offering three interconnected product lines:

Banking as a Service (BaaS) gives clients the ability to process Pix payments, wire transfers, KYC verification, and account management within Brazil. Pix, Brazil's instant payment rail, operates around the clock, and Transfero's BaaS layer lets fintechs and enterprises plug into this infrastructure without building their own banking integrations from scratch.

Crypto as a Service provides businesses with cryptocurrency transaction processing and multi-chain asset management. Supported assets include Bitcoin, Ether, Solana (SOL), Binance Coin, USDT, USDC, and EURC, alongside the company's own emerging market stablecoins.

Cross-Border Payments enable 24/7 settlement across multiple currencies and regions. Transfero's Payment Gateway allows merchants to accept crypto and settle in local fiat, reducing exposure to crypto volatility while preserving the speed and programmability of blockchain rails. The company has processed over 8.8 million transactions with 100 million USD in volume during 2025, serving clients across 168 payout markets.

BRZ: The Brazilian Real Stablecoin

Transfero's flagship product is BRZ, the first and largest digital representation of the Brazilian Real (BRL). Launched in 2019, BRZ maintains a 1:1 peg with the BRL through a controlled mint-and-burn mechanism. Every BRZ in circulation is backed by an equivalent Brazilian Real held in reserve by regulated partners. Independent reserve audits are performed by Parsiq, and reserve reports are made publicly available alongside a whitepaper. Recent reporting showed R$15.2 million in collateral held against R$12.3 million in circulating supply — meaning reserves exceed outstanding supply as a safety margin.

BRZ operates across more than a dozen blockchains: Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Avalanche, Algorand, Stellar, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Celo, Moonbeam, Chiliz Chain, and Solana. As of mid-2026, approximately 200 million BRZ tokens reside on Solana — the single largest chain by token count in the BRZ ecosystem — out of a total circulating supply of roughly 276.9 million. With over 200 million USD in monthly trading volume and more than 9,000 holders, BRZ is recognized as the largest non-USD stablecoin globally by market activity.

ARZ and CLZ: Expanding the Emerging Market Stablecoin Suite

Beyond Brazil, Transfero has issued ARZ, an Argentine peso-pegged stablecoin, and CLZ, a Chilean peso-pegged stablecoin launched more recently. These products extend the same reserve-backed model to two of Latin America's other major economies, giving regional businesses and developers a fiat-anchored instrument that operates natively on-chain.

In November 2024, Transfero selected Wormhole's Native Token Transfers (NTT) framework as its exclusive interoperability solution, enabling BRZ, ARZ, and CLZ to move natively across multiple blockchain networks without relying on wrapped token bridges. The NTT framework preserves each token's native properties — supply control, upgrade authority, and access lists — on every chain it touches.

Solana Ecosystem Role

Solana is Transfero's largest single deployment for BRZ by token count, and the chain has become the fastest-growing venue for BRZ-denominated activity. Unique senders of non-USD stablecoins on Solana nearly tripled year-over-year as of early 2026, with BRZ alongside EURC driving most of that growth.

In March 2026, the Loopscale protocol launched the first credit market denominated in Brazilian Real on Solana, pairing BRZ with Etherfuse's TESOURO — tokenized Brazilian federal treasury bonds. Depositors can supply BRZ or TESOURO to earn yield, establishing a fully BRL-denominated lending loop on Solana: local-currency collateral, local-currency borrowing, and yield sourced from sovereign Brazilian fixed income. This pairing represents a meaningful step toward non-USD DeFi primitives on Solana.

Transfero's integration with Wormhole NTT further deepens its Solana presence. Because Wormhole is natively deployed on Solana, BRZ can flow in and out of the Solana ecosystem with the same unified supply controls that govern every other chain deployment.

Infrastructure and API Layer

Beyond stablecoins, Transfero's API layer connects its banking rails and crypto rails through a single integration point. Businesses access Pix payment processing, fiat on-ramps and off-ramps, OTC liquidity through a partnership with Finery Markets' crypto ECN, and multi-currency accounts — all through a unified API. Supported fiat currencies include BRL, USD, EUR, CNY, and MXN.

Team and Company

Transfero was founded in 2015 and is led by CEO Marlyson Silva. The company employs approximately 110 people and operates under a Swiss corporate structure while maintaining its roots in Brazil.
