Token Metric Analytic Platform
Token Metrics provides AI-driven cryptocurrency analysis through real-time trading signals, token ratings, price predictions, and market intelligence. The platform processes data from exchanges, blockchain networks, and social media to deliver investor and trader grades, sentiment analysis, and quantitative metrics. Users access an integrated AI chatbot for personalized market insights, developer API with Python and TypeScript SDKs for building custom applications, and automated trading bot functionality for executing strategies on centralized and decentralized exchanges.
Token Metrics
Token Metrics is a crypto investment research company that now centres on a free daily market brief and paid research tiers. Its TMAI token moved from Base to Solana in 2026, and holders can use TMAI in place of a subscription.
The company has changed direction several times. It started as an AI-assisted ratings and analytics platform. In late 2025 it tried to become an on-chain index provider. Today its main product is a subscription research service. Anyone looking at Token Metrics should know which version they are dealing with.
Background
Token Metrics was founded by Ian Balina, a former IBM analytics executive who is still CEO. Balina became well known during the 2017 ICO boom for rating token sales with a data-driven approach and sharing his investment spreadsheet publicly. That work grew into Token Metrics, based in Austin, Texas. For several years the platform sold AI-generated token ratings. Each asset got a short-term "Trader Grade" and a long-term "Investor Grade", along with price predictions, research reports and a developer API.
The TMAI token launched in December 2024, with trading starting on Gate.io, MEXC and Bitpanda. In an official blog post, Token Metrics said it had raised $8.5 million and set out a 2025 roadmap built around AI agents. That roadmap included an automated X account (0xTMAI), trading agents that acted on the platform's buy and sell signals, and a marketplace for trading bots.
The 2025 pivot to indices
In November 2025 Balina announced that Token Metrics would shut down its Analytics platform and API. The goal was to focus on "a non-custodial, rules-based index that lets you invest in the crypto market with a single token." The flagship index was TM100. The company said interest in its indices had outgrown interest in new analytics features. It also said it would become "a smaller, leaner company."
The announcement set these dates:
- Analytics and the API became read-only right away.
- Subscribers had until November 27, 2025 to choose compensation: index-fee credits worth 3x their unused balance, a TMAI airdrop worth 1.5x vesting over 30 days, or a 1:1 pro-rata refund.
- Early access to TM100 was planned from November 28, 2025.
- The Analytics platform and API endpoints were to shut down on November 30, 2025.
Holders of Astrobot, an earlier Token Metrics product, were promised an airdrop of permanently staked veTMAI. Independent coverage from Quantify Crypto confirmed the shutdown.
Current product: Daily Pulse and paid tiers
As of September 2026, the Token Metrics homepage offers a subscription research service. It does not lead with the index product. The tiers are:
- Daily Pulse (free): a sourced morning email on crypto markets. Token Metrics says it draws on more than 50 market sources and has over 100,000 readers. The brief also comes out as a podcast and on YouTube.
- Signal ($49/month): trade alerts on tokens and prediction markets, each with a setup, risk notes and the conditions that would invalidate it.
- Alpha ($199/month): a weekly Alpha Report, a monthly playbook, "Hidden Gems" low-cap research and member Q&A.
- The Roundtable ($499/month): an AI portfolio defense report, a live monthly session with investors and a private investor channel.
The official X account posts daily market news and brief episodes, which shows the research operation is still running.
TMAI on Solana
Instead of paying for a subscription, users can hold TMAI. The homepage lists the thresholds as 30 million TMAI for Signal, 135 million for Alpha and 330 million for The Roundtable. The best tier a wallet qualifies for is applied automatically.
TMAI started as a token on Base. In 2026 Token Metrics moved it to Solana. The company said the move followed the compromise of an admin wallet for its Base staking and vesting contracts. Token Metrics' own figures say the attacker drained about 2.11 billion TMAI from those contracts, roughly 21% of the 10 billion Base supply. The company said the token contract itself was not hacked and user wallets were not drained. It also said it repaid 368 eligible veTMAI stakers a combined 1.69 billion TMAI, including staking rewards, from the TM Foundation treasury. It then moved Base proxy upgrade control to a multisig and committed to not using single-signer admin wallets in future deployments. Wallets it linked to the attacker were left out of the migration.
The migration used a fixed Base snapshot (block 45094609) and a Solana claim program. Holders proved they owned their Base wallet by signing a message, then approved one Solana transaction to receive the new token. The automatic claim set covered 76,017 wallets holding about 7.23 billion TMAI. The claim window opened on May 5, 2026 and closed on August 3, 2026. Exchange-held tokens had a separate process. After the window, Base TMAI is no longer supported.
Solana TMAI (mint JBH3sZw1MFHunc4ifgLFkUKGecDpB1FwSXkEo8PnCD4Z) has a total supply of 13 billion tokens, split three ways:
- 10 billion as the migration reserve. Unclaimed tokens go to a TM Community Reserve.
- 2.11 billion to the TM Foundation treasury, replacing the tokens that Token Metrics says were drained on Base.
- 890 million as a liquidity reserve. Token Metrics says this supports liquidity on Solana after exchange delistings.
The official trading venue is a TMAI/USDC DAMM v2 pool on [[PROJECT:241]] (Meteora). Token Metrics also links to [[PROJECT:219]] (Jupiter) for routed swaps.
Things to consider
Token Metrics is an established name in crypto research, but its product line has changed several times in a short period. It moved from ratings and an API, to on-chain indices, to a newsletter and signals business. Its token also moved chains after a security incident. The details of that incident and the token allocations come from Token Metrics itself. We found no independent security post-mortem. Anyone thinking about holding TMAI or buying a subscription should check the current terms and contract addresses on official Token Metrics channels.
