What TipLink Does

TipLink is a Solana-based platform that collapses the distance between a new user and their first crypto wallet to a single click. Instead of requiring a seed phrase, a browser extension, or any prior knowledge of blockchain infrastructure, TipLink encodes a wallet directly into a URL. When a sender creates a TipLink, the link itself becomes the wallet: the recipient clicks it, signs in with a Google account, and receives the funds—no separate wallet setup required. The result is a distribution mechanism that works for people who have never touched crypto before.

How It Works

Every TipLink URL carries an embedded private key. When a sender deposits SOL, SPL tokens, or NFTs and generates a link, TipLink creates a new on-chain account for that link. The recipient claims the account by authenticating through Google OAuth, which maps to a non-custodial wallet secured behind TipLink's access controls. Private keys are deliberately kept out of reach of phishing vectors, and TipLink vets the dApps permitted to interact with the wallet to limit exposure to malicious sites.

Because TipLink is built on Solana, transaction costs are minimal. Sending $100 of USDC, for example, costs less than one-tenth of a penny. The platform also uses Solana Pay under the hood for payments workflows, and compressed NFTs to power dynamic QR codes—used for event-based digital asset distribution at physical venues.

Products

TipLink Wallet is the consumer-facing product, described by the team as the world's simplest wallet. Funded by a Google login rather than a seed phrase, the wallet supports managing tokens and NFTs, buying and swapping crypto, and withdrawing balances to a bank account or gift card across more than 60 countries. Stripe, Moonpay, and Coinflow handle the KYC/AML compliance layer for fiat off-ramps.

TipLink Wallet Adapter, launched in 2024, extends the Google-login experience across the Solana application ecosystem. It plugs into any site that supports the standard Solana wallet adapter interface, letting developers offer their users a TipLink wallet alongside conventional options like Phantom or Solflare. By mid-2024 the adapter had already been integrated into several major Solana applications, including Jupiter, Tensor, Drift, Sphere, and Helio. For end users the experience resembles an Apple Pay tap: they are not downloading a browser extension or copying a wallet address—they are approving a transaction the same way they would authorize any web login.

TipLink Pro targets organizations and developers who need to distribute digital assets to large audiences. The product supports in-person events, email campaigns, and airdrops. Features include customizable TipLinks, dispenser links that generate fresh wallets on demand, and rotating QR codes suited to live events or printed materials. The platform can distribute existing tokens and NFTs or mint new ones during the campaign.

TipLink API (published to npm as @tiplink/api) exposes programmatic wallet generation so developers can build TipLink-powered distribution into their own applications without manually constructing Solana transactions.

Team and Funding

TipLink was co-founded by Ian Krotinsky, who serves as CEO, and Aashiq Dheeraj. The company was founded in early 2022 and announced a $6 million seed round in February 2023, co-led by Sequoia Capital and Multicoin Capital. Additional participants included Asymmetric, Big Brain Ventures, Circle Ventures, Karatage, Monke Ventures, Paxos, and Solana Ventures. Angel investors included Vinny Lingham, Liu Jang, and Sarah Guo. The raise was intended to expand the engineering team, improve the API, and build out a pipeline of distribution partnerships.

Ecosystem Fit

TipLink addresses one of the most persistent friction points in crypto adoption: the recipient has to know what they are doing before they can receive anything. By flipping that assumption—by treating the link as the wallet and Google as the identity layer—TipLink can distribute assets to audiences that have no prior exposure to on-chain infrastructure. This makes it useful for several categories of use case: retail NFT drops, payments at physical events, corporate rewards programs, gaming onboarding, and developer previews where the target audience is not yet a crypto user.

The Wallet Adapter integration strategy extends TipLink's reach into the existing dApp ecosystem. When a developer adds the TipLink adapter to their site, their existing user base gains the option to sign in with Google rather than connect a dedicated wallet—a meaningful accessibility improvement for any application targeting mainstream audiences on Solana.

A real-world proof of concept came through a partnership with the Boba Guys bubble tea chain in New York, where TipLink powered a payment and digital asset experience at a launch event. The integration demonstrated that the platform's QR-code-driven distribution model could operate in a physical retail environment with no prior crypto literacy required from customers.

TipLink maintains an open-source presence on GitHub with several repositories covering compressed NFT demos, embedded wallet tooling, and the core tiplink-open-source codebase. The project is active as of mid-2025 based on repository update timestamps and its presence across the Solana wallet ecosystem roundups published by Solana.com.
